View Full Version : Thane Krios- Mass Effect 2

I will be starting my major 2010 costume in a few weeks; Thane from Mass Effect 2. I've already done my research on how to make the foam latex mask I will be needing. Now, I need to figure out how to make his costume itself. It appears to be a kind of half-trenchcoat, with tight pants and a low-cut shirt/vest. While there are plenty of pictures out there, very few yet show his full outfit.
There is also the cinematic trailer. Thane appears in the dark quite early, but shows up in the daylight from 1:49-on.
I have plenty of time to work on this costume, but would love some help figuring out what kind of patterns to go for, and whether or not I will have to modify them heavily.

if you do this.

You will practically win at life.

Just saying.

Honestly, I can only think you'll need to HEAVILY modify the patterns you buy or just make your own pattern. A lot of long coats have baggy sleeves and Thane's costume is extremely form fitting. The only thing I can think of that you can modify is a Neo coat pattern http://www.simplicity.com/p-2235-costumes.aspx

You can make a sleeveless shirt and just alter the neck scoop into a square form. You can follow lots of sewing tutorials online but if you lack a lot of sewing knowledge you may want to hire someone else to do it. Sure its a lot of money but I personally wouldn't even touch this one, it'd be alot of frustration and tears ;-;

Also demi stop by the ME thread, there are more people there so they might have a better answer xD

I will probably die from fandom if you pull this off.
