didn't see a thread for it, hoping me starting one is ok lol.

anywho, I really enjoyed AOD this year! Almost didn't go today and only would have gone saturday, but I'm really glad I went both days:

Pros
-doing cosplay purikura
-playing various card games across the street near the fountains
-the epic trip to BK with friends
-the random game of "badminton" in the mall XD
-the Jango cosplayer at the masquerade (so awesome!)
-the Bleach panel & autographs with them, bunch of really nice guys
-just general derping around with friends <3

Cons
-small con was small D= but that can't be helped (and it was actually nice not having to run around everywhere)
-wish there could have been more activities to do
-make the con 3 days! lol

overall I had a really awesome time, and would be totally up for going again next year!

I agree we that AOD this year should of have more. I would love to see return of a dance or at least do something different like a formal ball. Our game room is success wit the return of Video Game tournament and hope to grow more later.

The WHOLE con was an epic win for me XD

-The dealers room was huge for a small con.
-The vendors were spaced out well downstairs.
-The New People party was so fun, great location and service (free stuff & DJ)
-The staff was super friendly
-Tons of cosplayers!!!
-The masquerade host was so entertaining, he made me lauph between skits.
- The masquerade skits were pretty darn good.
- Video game room was big for a small con and had teh wonderful DDR machine lol
- Kabuki Hotel was a beautiful location and great for photoshoots. I love how its right there next to Japantown.

Thank you everyone at AOD for an awsome time!!!

originally i wasn't going to AOD but i managed to go for a few hours on both days!

+ very little security *shifty eyes*
+ saw my friends perform in the karaoke contest
+ met a really nice photographer that gave us a Kuroshitsuji photoshoot. you know who you are!
+ hugged some fellow Grell fans
+ met and chatted with some really nice people
+ bought a Yuffie figure at the swap meet
+ my friend won a hall cosplay award! it was actually really funny. i literally just said, "i'll totally stand on a chair and cheer for you if you win" right before they announced her name.
+ con right next to Japan Town!

- very little security LOL
- the location of the swap meet and their round tables
- wished there were more things to do
- wished there were more space to hang out

i had fun cosplaying, but i'm not sure if i'll attend AOD again next year. Hotel Kabuki had some nice locations for photoshoots (plus it's next to Japan Town), but other than that, i can't say i liked the new location much. *ducks from tomatoes*

Even I have to admit the location was something of a problem. There just isn't enough event space and we couldn't run the iron cosplay because of it. On the other hand, the location at jtown is undeniably great.

Glad mostly people had a good time with cosplay at the con though!

The Good:
- Game tournaments. Sweet.
- Much more stuff at the dealer's hall, and more artists in the alley. Vast improvement from the small handful of artists and half-empty dealer's room of last year.
- New location adjacent to Japantown. This really improved things for people--the old location was too far from decent restaurants and parking would get tight later in the day.
- Tons more people this year, I was excited to see this con get more recognition.
The Bad:
- There might have been enough room, but it didn't seem well-managed. It was cramped in the dealer's room and artist's alley. And, probably just a personal thing of mine, but running the registration lines perpendicular to the path to the dealer's room really interrupted the flow and made it difficult for people returning to get to the dealer's room or back down towards the street.
- Staff didn't seem as prepared and well-informed as they should be. I even ended up having to show people where the bathrooms were several times because staff somehow didn't know.
The Ugly:
- The masquerade organization. There was no planning at all for the lines waiting to get into the masquerade, so two very long and stubborn lines formed in different directions. Repeated requests for information revealed that the staff had not only failed to plan ahead for this, but that most of them weren't even sure of when the masquerade was scheduled to begin.

Pros: +Just overall wonderful time enjoyable small con.
+ The attendees were great.
+ Staff was AMAZINGLY sweet and helpful! First time I didn't have ANY trouble with ANY staff at a convention.
+MC was hilarious at Masquerade.
+People staffing masquerade were very helpful especially since it was my first time entering a masquerade.
+Dealer's Hall wasn't cramped like most cons, rather spaced out compared to most.
+Registration was a breeze.
+Panels were awesome.
+Right near Japan Town.

Cons: -Layout was a little odd for the con.
-Artist Alley at the top where there were like 6 booths near the Dealer's Hall wasn't a good idea it got backed up really quick and it was hard to make it through.
-Artist Alley below was a little... Awkward as well.
-Photographers taking photos on the steps leading up from the AA to the Dealer's Hall.
-Wasn't three days, but I still had fun for the two days I was there. X3

Overall: Wonderful convention I WILL be returning for next year.

Repeated requests for information revealed that the staff had not only failed to plan ahead for this, but that most of them weren't even sure of when the masquerade was scheduled to begin.

I did not know that about the lines. Normally they're handled by security and volunteers and cosplay staff doesn't have to do anything about them. I'll try to make sure there's a line plan in place next year. Sorry that was a problem, but now that I know I can do something about it.

PROS:
-Extremely near the Japan Towns' Peace Plaza
-Purikura Purikura
-Easy access for japanese food.
-The hotel was great for photos that are Japanese related
-Bought stuff
CONS:
-WAY too small of a con
-There wasn't any space or time to mingle, so I didn't make any new friends >:
-The staff seemed pretty unorganized
-Only 2 days. sad sad.

even though i mainly worked at the con, here's my pro's cons~~~

I feel like AOD has so much potential honestly, but for one reason or another it hasn't gotten to reach that potential... I think being in j-town does help it attracts people to come. I think if the con had more entertaining events for attendee's to attend, it would counter-balance people to wander off into j-town if the con gets too boring. Make the con more exciting for people to buy a badge, and stick around!

pro's
-location had nice spots for photo's as well as places to eat.
-dealers room was good for a small con!
-photo studio booth in dealers room was a nice addition though has it's con's.

cons-
-location is good for many reasons, but has it's cons
-no centralized space for the con, has sooo many nooks and crannies that it's hard to
mingle.
-at times it felt like most attendee's were at j-town rather than the con
-layout of things seemed off/weird, but i'd assume that things can be fixed for next year.
-i like the idea of a photo booth that they had in dealers room, but it had no room to exist as it was right up on a vendor, and a table right up on it.

This was my first time going to AOD and I only went for a day, but it was nice. :)

Pro's:
- The mall was really cool.
- Somehow the con being in Japan town made explaining that there was an anime convention going on much more... socially acceptable and less confusing for onlookers? xD
- The Hotel was very pretty.
- There seemed to be a good amount of panels for a small con, i'm a little dissappointed that I missed some.
- Photobooths
- I never got to play in the game room, but it seemed like a really good idea and a lot of fun rather than just the usual console gaming.
- The Dealers room was nicly spaced.

Cons:
- Parking in SF. Eh, what are you gonna do. u_u
- Registering for the swap meet cost twice as much as the one in Sac-Anime, and with half the amount of people attening. ;-; </3 owch.

I can't wait to attend more cons in SF in the future, I need to visit this town more. xD

Hello everyone,

For those who don't know me, my name is Hank and I am the head of AOD. I just wanted to make a couple of quick points:

The con being small- Our growth was slowed for a few years because we kept changing the date around (spring > summer > back to spring). But now, I think we're more or less settled on this time of year.

If you had a great time, tell a few more of your friends about us next year. Post on your profile/signature/Facebook/Twitter/whatever you use that you're going. With good word of mouth, we will become bigger- and better.

Three days- Ultimately, it will be up to our staff and the hotel. This is definitely being considered for next year though.

We might not be able to respond to every single post, but we value your feedback and I promise you that we do read everything that's posted here (and on our own feedback forums (http://www.aodsf.org/bbs/viewforum.php?f=23)). So keep posting your comments!

Pros:
-lots of fun for a small con!
-masquerade skits were good
-dealer's hall and artist alley were good
-japanese garden was perfect for photos
-JAPANTOWN 8D

Cons:
-narrow hallways made lines chaotic, especially during the masquerade. Plus, as Pit, it was hard to get around even the dealer's hall with my wings.
-had to pay for another badge when I misplaced mine. There should be a way to recover information and get another badge, even if you have to pay a small fee...$40 for one day is painful. D:

This is actually quite common in all conventions. I haven't been to a convention where you get a free badge if you lose yours.

Having to pay for a new badge when you lose one is because there's a lot of people that lie about it to get free badges. They'll buy a badge, then give it to a friend, then claim they lost it to get another badge for free. I know it hurts the people that actually lose their badges, but too many people were abusing it.

yay AOD :D i will b back next yyeearr!! :3

Pros:
- con was closer to Japan Town
- people running masquerade were very nice, even with my extreme confusion, thank u XD
- dealers hall was bigger.. or better layed out XD
- (more personal) i got a lot of pictures taken XD
- the game show was hilarious as always XD i just wish i could press buttons faster 2 answer XD

Cons: ( i think its funny how we call conventions cons and cons is bad XD)
- Really small!!! even though it wasn't, it felt smaller than last year.
- interesting panels, for me there was only 2 events I acctually went to besides the masquerade (game show and vex mode) because none of the others were really interesting to me.
- to short! it felt way wwaayy shorter than last year. we arrived a 1/2 hr before the con started and let when it ended... it was still really short >.<
- Moveing.. going with the 2 small one, it was really difficult to move around, me with the wings on the back of my wedding dress and one of my friends as totro, to hard to move!
- some meanie bo beanie stole my video camara <.<
