I'm wanting to cosplay as Misty from Pokemon, but I really don't have a clue how to start. The style of her yellow tanktop seems like it'll be extremely hard to find, but I don't know if sewing it would work that well (I'm getting a sewing machine, but I'm really not great at things like that, and it'd probably turn out horrible -- any tips?). The shorts will be really easy, as will the shoes, but the suspenders are another problem. Is making them an option? Or is there anywhere that typically sells red suspenders?

Any help would be appreciated. ;___;"

Try a thrift store for the suspenders. I found the perfect pair at a Value Village on the first try. :) If that doesn't work, try looking at accessory stores like Claires or Ardene or something. I don't know about making them, I've never really thought of that - maybe someone else can answer that if you can't find them anywhere else.

Oh, and for the tanktop, again try looking into thrift stores. I had the exact tanktop in my closet already (I pretty much had Misty's whole outfit in my closet, actually x'D). If you can't find one I'd imagine it wouldn't be too hard to make - just flip through the some patterns. If you find something relativel close you can always tweak it a little and alter.

Hope this helps! I'm not sure what to suggest since I pretty much pulled everything for Misty out of my closet :crylaugh:

Hot Topic also have a pair of red suspenders, but they might be a little thin? Here's a link, anyway: http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/Accessories/Suspenders/Red-Skinny-Suspenders-899011.jsp

As for the tank top, would it be possible for you to take a yellow round neck t-shirt and alter it? I know you say you're not great at sewing, but that would really just be hemming the bottom and taking off the sleeves, which shouldn't be too difficult?

Hope that helps :)

For the tanktop, try Old Navy.

If you can't find the tank, just cut off half of a yellow t-shirt, that worked for my friend's cosplay
