I am wanting to make this and have it ready by Afest and our Cast's Comic theme show, but I am gonna need some help with a few things.

Things I will need help on are the bracers, coat, hat, and maybe the mask, "belt", and Power Battery/Lantern

1: Bracers: I have a slight Idea what to do for them. Using a foam armor tut I found, use Yellow FunFoam to make them, and then coat them in glue to harden them. Any other ideas would be helpful.

2: The Coat. I think I got this...maybe. Make the coat out of the leather-like faberic, then attach the yellow parts before adding the sleeves. That sound good? If you have a better way, please tell.

3: The hat. Ok...I am stumped. Any idea where I could get a hat like that?

4: Mask shouldnt be too hard, but I wanna hear your input.

5: the "Belt": This is gonna be tricky. It has no front to it and is armor-like. My guess is make it with foam like I wanna do with the bracers, and them pin/velcro/snap them onto my pants.

6: Lantern: I found one tut online, but it would be way too small for what I wanna do. Like...kid sized too small. Any ideas here?

1. Foam would work. Layer them like scales, almost, and glue each layer in place.

2. Sounds about right.

3. Look for some sort of farmer or cowboy hat, stores that sell Western style clothes should have something like that. Then, toss it into your driveway, drive over it, beat it up- whatever you can to weather it nicely.

4. Burlap and leather/hemp stitching for the mouth. The ropes tying it, you can easily fake by sewing them around the neck of the mask, leaving it open enough still to stick your head in and out.

5. It seems like it's a 'C' shape? That it doesn't actually go under any kind of beltloops in the bodysuit... I'd say get some aluminum armature wires and some plastic tubing and thread the wires through 3 tubes the size of your waist to get the shape- then lash them together in the center (where they would be hidden under your coat) OR glue the tubes together top and bottom. Hopefully the wires will be strong enough to hold them into shape, but if not, you can also attach snaps to the back where it would be up against your back and then snap them to your bodysuit.

6. Is there no way to upsize it?

While messing with the burlap today, I notiuced just how itchy the stuff is.
Any idea what I can do to the mask so that it doesnt screw with my face?

I don't see why you can't line the mask with something softer like a cotton jersey or some other knit fabric.

(and yay Yellow Lanterns!)

Ffffff--I was hoping to be the first Yellow Lantern Scarecrow cosplayer. TT-TT

Anyways, take a look at the cover for "Untold tales of the black lanterns". It gives a better view.

I already have that image. It seems his costume changes depending on what comic you are reading.

It is different in BLACKEST NIGHT, than it is in Green Lantern: Blackest Night, and that is different than the art for Untold tales of the black lanterns

...Yeah, I kind of already know that. ^-^;;

It's just that, that particular image gives much more detail. Anywhozzles, best of luck with yours. :)

I'm making the same costume for my fiance' for Dragon*con (with myself as Karu-sil). I can tell you how I'm taking care of these things. Granted, I'm making a more comic version (the coat appears black there, and I think it looks nicer in contrast to the other lanterns).

1: Bracers: I'm actually making mine in the same fabric as the yellow portion of the coat, interfaced heavily, top stitched, and directly attached to the coat. Since the ring projects the outfit the Lantern wears, I figured the bracers would be part of the coat itself.

2: The Coat. Yes, pretty much making it as well. I'm not using leather though, since the way it moves (in the comics) suggests heavy broadcloth or trench coat material. With the brown coloring, leather could work for a more weathered look.

3: The hat. Eh, I made mine. Sorry I could not help more u.u; You could probably look up hats on ebay, as I'm sure there has to be one there.

4: The mask. I already owned mine (you can see it in my gallery), so this was a break for me. Otherwise I'd say simply to make it out of burlap. To prevent irritation, you can buy (or make) a secondary hood of a different fabric and wear it under the mask to make it comfortable.

5: the "Belt": I've already made one of these for Karu-sil, which was foam core, wrapped in silver fabric and handstitched details. For Scarecrow, I was going to use super heavy interfacing and have it attach with snaps to his pants.

6: Lantern: I'm not doing this for his costume. I would say a good substitute is doing the yellow projection pitchfork, if you can't find a lantern.

Ok.

Main Body: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/productImages/300/0a/0afc2a97-f1fa-45b8-bc14-4137e06bf5e3_300.jpg
8in acrylic globe from home depot
Base: 3 different sized PVC caps. I just took the globe over to the PVC department while at Home Depot and just dry fitted PVC till I got a look I liked.
light source: http://tinyurl.com/288ufqy
With that Mini Lantern, I chopped off the outside covering and left just the inside
http://i33.tinypic.com/23if2nb.jpg
I then took the clear plastic part and cut off the top threads so I could use them later.
top: The Top is really the bottom of the globe. I glued the threads from the clear part onto the globe so I could screw the lantern's top/handle onto the globe.

Outward facing thingy: This part is the clear part of the mini lantern. I used the covering for an old white Tap Light and placed that onto the bottom threads of the clear thing. That what then glued to the globe

that should be all the into you need.

My Lantern is a custom design since I didn't want mine to look like everyone else's.
