In need of some help from those who know Montreal better than I :

I tried to look at rates for Holiday Inn Select (at Viger) and Travelodge, but it seems like what is left is way out of my budget unfortunately :(.

I wanted to know if the Candlesuites Inn (191 Rene Levesque blvd E) or Days Inn (215 Rene Levesque blvd E) are close enough to the Palais de Congres.

Hotel Le Dauphin (1025, rue De Bleury) is also on my maybe list, but it's a bit more expensive. However I wouldn't mind paying more if it is definitely closer to the congress centre.

Thanks!

What I can suggest is try the Hotel's near the central station. Because you just walk down the street and your at the con. Beside those and the Holiday Inn (which your LITERALLY across from the con. and Travel Lodge) there isn't anything else closer then them :/ not to my knowledge anyway.

Both the Days Inn and Candlesuites Inn look very close to the Palais des Congres. I got directions on Google Maps and it says it's about a 3 minute walk. Another hotel I considered booking was Le 1 René-Lévesque. It's also very close to the Palais des Congres (though a little farther than the first 2) and not too expensive. You might want to check it out: http://le1renelevesque.com/index.php?lang=en

Even though I'm a Montrealer, I'm ready and willing to room with any out-of-towners to help them bring down their costs. :)

really? Can I keep you in mind in case I run into massive difficulty filling our 4th spot? We're staying 4 nights, and approx $100 per person.

also thanks to everyone for the suggestions and helping me research! I ended up booking at the Hotel Le Dauphin

Good luck! Le Dauphin doesn't seem like that bad of a choice. it's right besides the back entrance of the convention center so all you have to do is cross the street and you're in ! At least you won't have to worry about the weather if it gets bad.

I say that, only because last year's Otakuthon Sunday had pretty bad rain. :/ We had to run for cover using a Shinigami-sama's hands to protect ourselves lol.

And you'll be right next to the steam/fire fountain :D

No problem!!

The fountain is something that is active throughout the summer here in Montreal. Every hour the small park right besides the convention centre / Le Dauphin is covered in steam and a fire ignites around the middle portion of the fountain. It happens for about 10-15 minutes every hour or so every night. It's a slow process that builds up to the fire so when the steam starts appearing throughout the park, the "show" is starting.

It allowed me to get some pretty nice pictures last year with Henrickson a few days prior to AN2009.

You can see some shots here to get the idea.

In the third picture, you can see the Dolphin hotel :P Just to give you an idea of how close to the con it really is. The park itself is across the street from the convention centre.

And by the way you looked amazingggg in Astharoshe at Anime North X_X! Wish I had my camera on me >.< Are you bringing it to Otakuthon?

~Koopat, that is EPIC! O_O and I mean that!! Really awesome pics, and it looks really good with your Viral. Now I want to hang out there every spare hour...forget going to Notre Dame Basilica

And thanks for the compliment on Astha =). I'll definitely be wearing it to Otakuthon....it was made for the beauty of Montreal ;)

Thanks, Vicky ^^ You could always do both! The Basilica Notre Dame is roughly 2 corners away from the Fire Fountain (if I am thinking of the proper one)

If you're around at the fire fountain as often as you say you might be, odds are we'll bump into each other there then to the very least ^^ Def. gonna chat it up if that's the case!

You are? Awesome, I'll keep an eye out. I'm bringing Zero and Viral this time around, no Dark Link.

See you around~!

Hey Vicky, please tell me if you still want a roommate (ie., me) in your hotel room. :) I'm trying to finalize my lodging plans in early August.
