I'm about 60% sure this is in the right place. Forgive me if it's not. ^^;; :alien:

Anyways, the way I came up with this idea is because I looked at the Gothic Lolita part of CosplayMagic.com, and saw a few dresses that automatically made me think of Naminé and Kairi. (And Axel and Roxas, but that's beside the point! XD) I'd really love to do a Naminé Lolita cosplay, but with this dress in particular (can't sew AT ALL): http://www.cosplaymagic.com/gothic-lolita-criss-cross-dress.html

I was wondering if anyone else has ever thought of something like this, or would be willing to do it as well. Though I can't guarantee it'd be possible to do meetups unless you live around Atl, Georgia or Gainsville, GA. ^^;; Eh, that problably drove a heckload of you off....Crap.

Best wishes,
<3~ Nami-Chan :angel::burger:

-personally- i think that cosplaymagic.com is WAY over priced, i got my lolita dress from Milanoo.com. i'm not 100% sure if they have the style that you want, but the dresses are cheaper. saving money is good :)

A couple of things. Firstly of all, most lolitas aren't terribly fond of this whole "I'm going to make x character a lolita!" thing. Not trying to be mean or anything, but just a warning.

Secondly, DO NOT ORDER FROM MILANOO. Their business practices are highly suspect. If you want links to bad reviews I can certainly supply them. I'm not familiar with Cosplay Magic, but I am familiar with Fan Plus Friend, and they make a replica of this dress (it was originally from a brand called Mary Magdalene): http://www.fan*plus*friend.com/servlet/the-229/Dolly-Gothic-Lolita-cln--Cross/Detail (take out the asterisks, copy and paste)

I've made my own "Loli Heartless" design and yeah, "real" lolis will bite your head off immediately. Original= unacceptable around them.

If you want to go through with it be extremely wary of lolis, otherwise go wild.

But yeah, milanoo is awful. Just awful.

Was that snide remark really necessary? The problem most lolitas have with things of this nature is a couple of things. One is that it's using the fashion as a costume, which it is not. The other is that most people who do this sort of thing learn one thing about the fashion: there's lace involved. Which means that most of them find whatever they can, stick about 18 yards of cheap lace on it, and label it as lolita. If you bother to do your research, and a lot of it, and do it tastefully, then you'll have no problem.

I might suggest to the OP doing a themed outfit, rather than converting the original character design? Like...putting a KH-themed design on a skirt or a dress. This was posted just today and gives you a general idea of what I mean: http://community.livejournal.com/sew_loli/1276224.html#cutid1

I think that if you are taking a character and trying to dress them up in lolita, I like to think of it as "If this person loved lolita, what would they wear?" not like "I'm gonna make a lolita version of this character." Do you get what I'm saying? Maybe I just can't word it right... Adding a a game theme to the outfit (like maybe for Namine, you can add a crayon stencil to the skirt portion of whatever you choose to buy) would be a good way to add some character without going overboard.

Also if you have more questions about lolita worn for characters, I would advise you to post in the EGL forum. I think you might be able to get more constructive advice there since the people who post there are actual lolitas and typically fellow cosplayers and know what they are talking about.

It wasn't a snide remark. It's true. Lolis buy the same design off site and just mix and match to make it original. Having something someone thought of completely made then worn only gets negativity from them rather than some sort of positive input for going an extra mile.

Lolis have to have this snotty attitude, it's part of their rules. Cosplays are much loser where it's basically," do your best, do the character justice" vs Lolita where it's "look like a doll, act like a princess, nothing less."

I didn't say everyone of them did, since many break the rules but overall any original design even themed outfits are looked down upon by them.
I warning her of the nature of "real" lolis.

Speaking as a lolita, I don't expect anyone to act like a princess, and I don't approve of anyone acting snotty. I apologize if whoever you interacted with previously gave you such bad impressions of us. Yes, it is true that there are communities out there that will mock whoever they can get their hands on, but that includes even girls who wear the fashion well for stupid reasons, they'll attack pretty much anyone for no good reason. However, most lolitas are not like that, especially not in person. All the girls I've met have been very welcoming and friendly, especially to people new to the fashion.

Plenty of girls make their own clothing. And lolitas fully accept themed outfits, providing they are well thought out, as you can see from all the positive comments on the post I linked previously. I myself have made themed outfits and never got any crap for it.

I agree with eleksin- maybe don't try and make namines outfit lolita but make a lolita outfit for namine. If that makes sense. I'm actually curious to see how it turns out! Goodluck!
(oh, and I've ordered from fan plus friend several times and was very please with the result everytime. I have read terrible things about milanoo... Dont shop there, it sounds like a terrible waste of money)

the only problem with this...in my personal opinion, is that no matter what, it wouldn't be namine.

you could SAY it was her, but it just...wouldn't be her, and I know that sounds kind of rude or short.

but...there's a big difference between people designing Halloween town outfits for the characters and other world outfits for the characters as opposed to finding something cute to wear, and being like "oh, it's namine...in a different outfit"

in my honest opinion, it would only be lolita with blonde hair :\
