I haven't seen too many Edea cosplays, but I have seen a few really really good ones. I just wanted to know what you guys thought of my Edea costume. All critisism welcome. Minus the fact that I already know the backpeice sucks and my veins suck haha. I know I criticize it all the time haha. Here are some links to some pics:

i'd like to note how I LOVE YOU for having the color at the bottem of the dress. a lot of edeas don't go tht far. thank you! ::grins:: it's one of my pet peeves with an edea cosplayer. lol it's the first think i look at. "do they have the purple/red whatever color at the bottem?" ^^

anyhow... i think the whole costume looks great. i'm not a good critic for costumes... i just wanted to give ya props on the dress!

It looks pretty good, but you might think about revising the gloves a little bit. You might want to make them so that they conform to the shape of your figures a little better (they look kinda long), and maybe wear them inside the sleeve of your dress, not over. Also, it might help if they were made of Velvet, or the same material that the dress is made of. ^_^

Also, on her little "fan" on the back, you might want to use a different kind of fabric, or maybe gather it a bit, so it has some shape. Most pictures show it as being white, so it might look better if you used a flowy white fabric. The fan came out awesome, though! ^_^

I think it looks nice, though! Again, props to having the color at the bottom, too.

I love your portrayl of the character... It's apparent even in the photos. (I'm sure that if I ever saw you in person, I'd be paralyzed with fear or something... ^_^)
Love how you did the gloves... the fingers look great; and, as dizzy pointed out, kudos for the color at the bottom of the dress. The helmet deal is awesome, as well... whatever did you use to make it?

Perhaps, if you ever wanted to re-vamp, you could make the fan thing 3-d instead of cut out. And did you use theatre quality makeup for your eyes? The makeup artist side of me is wanting to get in there with a few pots of purple cream and go nuts.

Work on smoothing out the head thing. Also, isn't her dress cut a little lower? You may not want to do that for your own reasons though lol.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I really appreciate them :P I'm going to keep all of these in mind if I decide to revamp this costume.

One little note... the fan looks like cardboard (you can see what looks like corrugated lines on it), so you might want to fix that. As for the veils, I would gather them a bit to make them look more flowy.

Great work on the headgear and makeup. ^_^

Yay Angel Santuary is awesome! But yeah, the backpeice is made of wood, and I sanded and sanded then ran out of time and just spray painted it lol. Thanks ^^

All I can suggest is steaming the fluffy flowies hanging down from her backpiece.. either that or find fabric that doesn't wrinkle and flows better.

The fan would probably look really nice if you used a thick peice of poly stirein and carved the fan out of that, used sand paper to give yourself smooth edges; and then finally painted it. I believe it would look very nice..providing you use the proper types of paint. A high gloss gold paint, would look increddibly tacky for Edea. .. Poly stirein is nice, because it does not have any grain lines.

I'm probably spelling Poly Stirein wrong, but it's a type of white plastic.

Polystyrene, in case you try doing an online search. :) Have you tried working with it, VK? I'd be interested in looking into whether it would be feasible for such a complex design.

I think if her dress gets cut much lower there will be Problems (though nothing a little double-sided tape couldn't fix)... and if I'm remembering correctly, Edea does have long claw-like fingers on her gloves.

Lol, yes Polystyrene.

Yes, I did work with it once..I made a cube. ( It was for a 3d project freshmen year at Pratt...Wee, go cube making..*Ahem*..) I have not worked with it much other than that-It was pretty shapeable especially with a really sharp blade..

...But anyway, my room mate's friend was the Samus at Otakon, and she used it to make a lot (if not all) of Samus costume.

Heh, yeah I wouldn't be comfortable making it much lower. And when I first got my gloves I thought they were too long too, until I looked at some pictures of Edea's fingers and saw how long they were in the game! I was like woah lol. I specificly refered to this picture for the finger thing:

I actually modeled my costume after the Edea action figure that I own, since there are few detailed pictures of her. I based the lowness of the dress, the pink at the bottom of the dress, the fabric hanging from the backpeice, and the colors of the headpeice on it:

OH! I saw that Samus, wow... She was amazing...her Edea costume also had an AMAZING backpeice as well. I was wondering how she made that costume...That stuff must be really workable. I will seriously put that into consideration for the possible remake of my backpeice.

i really like the back thing.

*just a suggestion* You dont need that much makeup around your eyes, you have pretty eyes for edea focus on darkening your eyebrows and using a better eyeshadow color.

Also with the veins in here face. They are not bad!!! you just need to make them darker and more noticable.... i will send you my edea picture (the makeup is what turned out, not the rest of my costume!)

did anyone get yellow eyes contact... she has yellow eyes? i did!! its a very hard yellow to find if you have dark brown eyes!!!

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind next time. No I didn't get the yellow contacts, but if I ever rewear this costume, I plan on having them. I was goign to get them this year, but I had just spent too much on redoing the costume, and on my Frost costume, heh. I wanna see a pic of your Edea costume too!!

i'm the samus at otakon's friend (heh, i don't know how else to describe it). i believe she used copper tubing and some type of modeling clay (sculpty, etc.) for the more intricate parts. maybe even pvc. i'm sure if you asked her she'd be more than willing to help you out. obviously, so knows what she did a lot more then i do. =0)
