hiyaaaaaa, i got back into guilty gear recently, and have been craving to do a guilty gear cosplay. i have been kinda decing between ABA, Dizzy, and millia. now they are all pretty complex cosplays, but not too horribly bad, EXCEPT for dizzy wings. now dizzy is probably the one i wanna do most (though i dont got body, i will try though if i decide dizzy) but her darnded wings seem, well, impossible...

i have thought seen a couple of other people cosplay her, and i am trying to get as many ideas as i can. my favorite version i have seen were of dizzy, then the wings were two other people cosplaying and it was very epic. but i dunno if i can convince my friends to cosplay wings lol. does anyone have any tips, or tricks or tutorials or has cosplayed dizzy. or what you think would look best, just anything. i want as many ideas as i can and thanks you :)

I was in a dizzy forum years ago and the poster insisted that dizzy's dark wing was green, not black. XD I can never get it out of my head everytime I look at dizzy now. I'm not trying to be anal, in fact I think either color would look great.

aweeee thanks you, your really helpful. i am really liking those angel wings, it looks like it will be very helpful to me. the thing that is irking me is incorporating the heads without them looking cheesy or dumb :/

and i know, some pics are green but some are black, i myself always thought they were black and look better black, but if they really are green i might do green cuz i like accuracy

They are indeed a dark forest green (Necro) and a light, pale blue (Undine). Also, please please PLEASE get them on the right sides. Necro is on her right, Undine is on her left.

Honestly I would recommend not even bothering with the heads. I've seen them done so many times, in a variety of different ways-- I just believe there is no good way to do them.

If you REALLY want to do her wings right, what I would do is build yourself a custom wingset and harness from scratch (not from an existing white/black set) with sets of custom dyed dark green and light blue feathers. I actually got a quote from Rainbow Feathers for those once, though I can't recall what it was. They definitely said they could do it, though. And just do her wings, without the heads/faces. They will look muchmuchmuch better this way.

(I almost did Dizzy just to do the wings, because they're almost never done right.. sorry, it's just a pet peeve of mine w/ Dizzy cosplays =_=)

see i aint gonna lie i have always thought they were black, but i will trust you :) i have seen ref pictures from both sides and i9 honestly cant remember from game, it has been a while and i don't own anymore :(

thanks for tell the truth about the heads, i think a lot of people would try to give ideas that may fail and i am glad someone is blunt and actually says they dont think they will work. i have never made a. do you have any other tutorials for wings/harness?

also, for custom colored feathers, were would i look. would it be safe to buy them over the internet or could i dye them myself (i dunno if dying them myself is harder then it is worth)

I always thought they were black too. I think the heads look awesome, but just how can you make them? if you're good at carving foam,, perhaps you can put down the faces 2D style, then layer feathers around them.
Maybe it doesn't even have to be feathers. If you're a good artist and crafter, carve the wing style from strong posterboard, paint on the faces and feathers. Use water resistant spray and you can have some unique wings without using feathers. I've seen people make wings from fabrics, craft foam, paper, and other stuff. Looks pretty cool.

I found a feather dying pdf file. it may help.
http://www.ronnlucassr.com/docs/Dying%20Feathers%20101.pdf

from some website:
The secrets of the black dyeing of feathers are kept by good dyers; but the process with logwood dye, which is the best, takes about six days. The methods of dyeing, except for the black feathers, are quite simple. The feathers are dyed in small quantities. Acid dye stuffs, either formic or oxalic acid, are best in color and fastness. If the feathers are not bleached before dyeing, they are washed thoroughly in castile soap and water and rinsed. They are then soaked in hot water half an hour to get the stems and quills soft enough to take the dye well.

I also think fabric dye will work with feathers. You can test it out. Just follow the directions on the dye package and do a test piece.

This site has a buttload of reference art, just check 'character art' and 'endings' and all the series and look for Dizzy: http://www.guiltygear.ru/gallery.php
I also own a couple of Dizzy figures and they're molded in those colors, so yeah, they're deffo DARK Green and LIGHT Blue.

Here's a couple Wing tutorials/guides:

I believe this is the site where I got the quote for the feathers from: http://www.rainbowfeatherco.com/index.html
But there is also this site. not to be confused with the other: http://www.rainbowfeathers.com/
I think I've heard that turkey rounds are the best for use on wings.

I've actually also seen Dizzy's wings done really nicely with what I think was vinyl, but I have no idea how it was done :/

oh wow that is really helpful. the more i look the more i see the green wings. i do like the green adds a little color to the outfit. but i still kinda wanna incorporate the heads somehow.

this women made wings and i really like how they turned out, i am thinking of doing mine like this but with some more feathers and maybe try to make the heads have some details like the skull and all.

thanks so much for the turorials, the thing i am worried about a little is a harness to keep it on that wouldnt have weird fabrid and stuff coming out in front to keep it on. it will be hard cuz she has so little on in front of the wings but i dunno how to keep them on my body

se having paper wings would be cool, but taking pics from any other angle then front seems like it wouldnt be as cool looking if i didnt have 3d wings. and darn, that sound kinda complicated, i dunno if it would be cheaper just to buy already dyed ones

I thought about cosplaying Dizzy once and I would not have tried to do it without the faces.
Honestly, My idea would be to make them out of a thin fiberglass/resin cast and then paint then and build up the feather base around them. If you can't sculpt a face this plan is already out the window though.
Would it be a lot more work than just buying a pair of green and blue wings and sewing them together? Hell yes it would be, and in the end it's up to you, and yes I have never seen anyone do it really well, but my opinion has always been that if you can go the extra mile, why not?

i actaully am a pretty ok sculptor, thanks goodness for sculpture and design classes lol. i will admit i do not know what you mean by the cast fiberglass thing... could i have a more in depth description?

also, see i like the idea of feathers but it seem to me like a lot of the pics have fabric draped as well, i wanna find a way to balance the use of feathers and draped fabric without it being like these are feathers this is nfabric and they dont belong together...

and about the just buying a pair of green and blue wings and attaching, heck no i dont wanna do that. if i am going to make a costume like this, i wanna put as much effort and love and accuracy into it as i can. i have even been considering adding necros and undines attacks (like the bubbles)

does anyone have any tutorials or tips on how to make a harness that wont show in front??

helllllo, yes i am bringing this forum back to life after too long, but i didn't want to start a whole new one. anyway, i still really want to cosplay dizzy and was wondering if anyone has ideas for harnesses that could be hidden with this cosplay, all the tutorials a find seem to be attached to corsets which won't work. also, looking for feather dyeig tips and what is the best feather to use for wings. also opinions on whether to or not to incorporate the heads. thanks so much

Every Dizzy cosplay I've ever seen just has one dark/one light colored wing, and doesn't try to actually personify them.
