Hello! I am planning to Cosplay Hungary's new outfit For Fan Expo in Toronto at the end of August. For those who haven't seen it, this is her outfit:

The episode it's from: http://www.animefreak.tv/watch/hetalia-world-series-episode-13-online

I'm having trouble figuring out how to make the hat. I've never attempted anything like this before, and many methods come to mind, however I can't tell which would be the best way. Start from scratch? Modify an existing hat? Which fabrics should I use? So many options!

If anyones made a hat before, please let me know the best way to go about it!

Thanks in Advance :D

I'm planning on buying the base because making those hats are not easy, especially if you make them out of wool felt (which is what they are actually made out of). You really need a hat block and some experience doing it. I was going to buy the base and fix it to look like hers. However my problem is deciding WHAT THE HELL kind of hat that is. -__- It looks like a standard bicorne but is a little flatter, usually those things stand up more like Prussias does. It's probably a different hat but I don't know the name of it. If anyone does can you please let me know!! ^_^

Ohh are you making the same outift?? I'd love to see pics of how yours turns out!

Oh man, I spent so long trying to figure out what kind of hat it is!!! I've come to the same conclusion as you: I think it's a modified bicorne. As for making it....I've kind of just improvised so far. I'll let you know how it goes, and if I'm successful I'll refer you to the tutorial I based my method off of. Ideally I would have taken my time and really researched and experimented, but as usual, I procrastinated too long -___-
