Okies well---

I'm doing ShinRa uniform Cloud, and KH Sephiroth.

What I want to know is.....

How do you make those shoulder guard things? (And I already say 'no' to paper mache and helmets. u.u; )

::Hoping for a cheap good way.:; u.u;;;;;;;;

I'm actually having the same delimma. What I'm probably going to do is make the shoulder guards out of sheet-metal (old street signs), of course, you need the proper tools for shaping the metal and the like, so it may hard to do.

If someone has a better idea, I'd be all ears.

Hmmm... I don't have the proper tools...

I brought this up to my dad while I as visiting tonight.. he had a good idea! So we're gonna make a team project of it and if it works I'll DEFINATELY post the process. ^____^

I'm definatley not 29. BUT... who did say nerds sucked? Nerds/ Dorks/ Geeks are the best people in the world. To me, they are the only ones that make sense.

Seeking human intellengence sometimes leaves me to look specifically towards "nerds". Nerds magically appear in great numbers at conventions. Oh the joy!

Obviously this guy is in denial. This guy probably owns Hello Kitty toilet paper or Star Trek Picard boxers or something!

What is a nerd? Does it matter?

Anybody who tries to label someone as a certainn crowd or something.. is just weird.. I mean.. yeah I'm an otaku and all but I try my best not to label people at certain crowds.. people who are "nerds" are just like everyone else.. they just have a hobbie that makes more sense.. and a lot of them know how to party better.

So if we're going to label things.. then I'm obviously a perverted otaku wanna' be asian tae kwon do soccer mom's kid video game freak cosplayin' mofo wig wearing nerd geek..

*Ahem*

That is all..

People call me a nerd just because I'm smart. I'm proud of being a "nerd" and being "wierd". There really is no such thing and "cool" or "nerds", it's just what people say and label you as. Those people can't except the fact that they are the real "geeks" so they call themselves "cool" and all us sane people "nerds" just to make themselves feel important.

HEY!!! About the ARM Guards I might have a way!!!!! YAY!! Um, I'm doing this kick arse Yuffie costume for Otakon and I'm using this styrofoam (Not like the ones you find in boxes with expensive stuff in it, the texture's all funny) but this styrofoam in almost plastic.... ::Runs to my brother to ask what's it called::
Um, it's "regular" styrofoam, the one that is used on boats and rafts and stuff... (The color of mine is pink, but I have seen blue and yellow)...

Er.. well I made a ghetto crapstastic SOLDIER uniform awhile back.. for the armor I used a weight belt, extra leather to make the suspender parts, and a football pad for the shoulder thing.. It was light except for the tractor bolts. ^^; for the braclet things I used..cookie cutters and bolts.. heh ghetto cosplay rocks.

Darn! I thought I was the first one to ponder up a SOLDIER costume, oh well lol.

Someday I will make one! And I'll have the crappy grenades that make huge explosions sending the characters flying but do 3 damage! W00000000000000000T! =)

Blue foam! @_@ That stuff makes such a mess. If I'd had more time I would have had my boyfriend make my Tifa elbow-guard for this year. I'll start bugging him to make it for me for next year.

I know this thread is old but I figured I'd post about what I did, since I finished him.

I ended up not doing the foam thing at all.. instead, my mom and I went and bought old hocky shoulder guards. I took them out of the netting jersey stuff, spray-painted them silver, sprayed them with a clearcoat of spraypaint, glued on some padding with E3000 (I think that's the name, I asked Kamui about it).. from there.. stuck velcro on the padding underneath the guards and also on the shirt itself. It worked nicely in my opinion. ^_^

Thanks for update. I still need to make my elbow-guard for Tifa, and at the moment I'm still not sure how I want to go about it. The other day I looked at some online tutorials and stuff but it still looks pretty complicated. Where are you going to be wearing this costume to?

Lulu- ^_^; Actually I wore it to Katsucon. ::Nods.:: Tifa elbow guard... you should ask Kitty. ^_^ She has a pretty good Tifa costume. ::Smile.::

I saw the pic last night! I was all "So that's what she made...looks good!" ^_^ Hmm, I should just ask Kitty lol.

Adella

I made Kitty's gloves, bought her the wig she wears, made the armor for her elbow, and made the armor for her shoe. Her shirt was bought in Chinatown, and the skirt was made from black pleather stitched on either side. Her shoes were bought at Ontario Mills mall and spraypainted red. The suspenders are belts.

basically all non-hot glued parts were made by Aeris.

Something Lulu

Okay, I'll rephrase that to "I should just ask Aeris." ^_^ I'm just at a loss about the elbow guard. My boyfriend is going to help me with it (I just volunteered him!) but it would probably be better if I were able to tell him a method to use instead of saying "Here it is, make me this." lol

EDIT:
Just realized that my comment "I saw the pic last night! I was all "So that's what she made...looks good!" ^_^ Hmm, I should just ask Kitty lol." probably sounded like I just saw Kitty's costume. I meant I just saw khamryn's costume and the shoulder pads last night, and figured those had been what she had been referring to. I saw Kitty's costume this summer; it's very good. ^_^

The elbow armor is simply spot heated polystyrene plastic.

Awww, I'm not even sure if I can do Sephiroth, nevertheless I want to learn how to make those shoulder guards. Ruka's Sephiroth was outstanding. I could never figure out how she made those shoulder guards.
