Hello! I'm pretty new to this forum, so I'm not sure if this is exactly the right place to put this, but I'm going to try anyway, haha.

For the past costumes, I've taken pieces that were roughly the same and modified them to suit my needs. However, I want to make my Russia cosplay from scratch, preferably using a pattern since I'm totally new at this. I've already made my scarf and the little badge, so what I really need help on is the coat.

So I was wondering if anyone had any how-tos or patterns they've used for this? Like I said, I'm a complete noob at making things from scratch, so it'd be awesome if you could explain in detail.

Thanks so much!

I'm a noob on Hetalia cosplay's as well, but I think I know enough about patterns to help.....hopefully....(that's why there's a forum! So others can tell me if I'm wrong. ^^;;)

I haven't even completely scratched the surface of all the patterns out there, but I found this one.
Here (http://www.simplicity.com/p-3064-misses-jackets.aspx)

And just because the pattern says to construct it a certain way, you don't have to. [Since the patterns construct in different pieces...] I was thinking that you use one neckline with a different body...
So for the body of the coat, using the white coat pattern, but for the neckline, using the green coat neckline pattern.

And I recently found out that if you want to make it look as if your a male, make the torso look longer in the coat.

Uhh....what else....I'm sure if you search the forums there is a good pattern tutorial on here...This forum has just about EVERYTHING!

What might also help [since I've never made this] is just search up who has made Ivan's garb and then PM them. I'm sure they'd be really helpful...

Just wanted to give you something....and I wish you the best of luck! Making stuff from scratch is actually really fun.
[and sorry for the long post....I tend to type a lot...]

Ohhh....I was thinking about either that one or this one (http://www.simplicity.com/p-1735-misses-lined-jackets.aspx), using the one of the far left. The problem is, Russia's jacket isn't attached with buttons, and I don't want to use a zipper because it'd look off.

Velcro is always a nice thing....l3

But I've heard that adhesive velcro isn't always the best thing to use...It's worked for me, but I was always scared of it coming off...

Yeaa....the one time I used velcro, it fell off within four hours or so. @__@
