Hi! I'm pretty new to cosplaying and have yet to actually sew a cosplay by hand and all that jazz, so I was just wondering if any of you friendly fellow APH cosplayers could help me out~ I'm planning on to do a femme!South Italy cosplay (for a spring/summer con) from a recent Nyotalia picture Hidekaz posted on the internet. It looks very similar to femme!Feliciano's dress from another official piece of Nyotalia art. For it being so recent, there sure is a lot of fanart already generating of it. I'm wondering how I'd go about making the dress and if there are any patterns out there you guys know of that resemble it. It seems like a pretty simple design but the perfectionist in me is just suuuper nervous about going about making the best dress I can make ^^;

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
(and I've attached some reference pictures for convenience~)

Bumping this! Because I'll be making a Fem!Romano cosplay soon and my friend will be making a Fem!Italy soon and we really need help on what pattern to use!

I'm making one of these and instead of making a dress I'm going to make a shirt and mini skirt. Stick the shirt in your skirt and the belt will cover up that it's a two piece. That is my idea anyway :)

I suppose I'll try that! ^^
I'm just unsure of how to make the top, with the cutout, collar, and all...~ The rest seems pretty easy to construct.

I did consider that! That's probably what I'll end up doing. Thank you!
But I'm having the same problem to. I wouldn't know how to even begin doing the cutout collar.

That collar is the devil, so I've decided to just make a normal shirt collar and be done with it *evil cackle* Personally I have never seen a pattern for a shirt like that. It's almost like you would have to do a shirt and then cut out a window or something...

Maybe if you split it up, make the shirt without a collar, just that cleavege and then make that seperate collar part then sew it together? That might make the most sense I think.
Here is a pattern for the cleavage, there are probably better ones out there but this is sort of basic: Cutout (http://sewing.patternreview.com/patterns/1753)

A basic shirt collar on youtube: Collar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jiPjpL3CXw)
You will have to just sort of mix different patterns until you assembly something that kind of looks like what she is wearing I guess...

You found patterns and stuff! Thanks so much, UllaBritta! Now maybe with some trial and error processes, I might be able to successfully make the top~

And good luck on making your cosplay, AstroRuby~ ^^

BTW; What colour will you make the hairband and shoes? There isn't an official coloured version of fem!romano (as far as I know) only different fanarts so it makes it a bit tricky to decide for me. Esp the shoes are important.

Well I was thinking of going with the same color for both the headband and shoes. Maybe in red or black (Red because...well, thats what they're colored in most fanart. Or black because it'd match the monochromaticity of the outfit. Not to mention that her gloves are, or would look best in, black) Yeah, I'm leaning towards black.

Yeah I'm thinking that the shoes and headband should be the same too colour too...
Hm...I wish that Himaruya makes a coloured version of her some day :/
I'll have to decide when the uniform is ready, might be easier to match it with colours then.
