sssoo i'm gonna be doing a X-Force version of Laura cosplay.

this (http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/3/33806/771763-154_x_force_17.jpg) to be specific. and while i have most of the costume figured out, i was wondering if people had any idea on what to make her mask out of?

and how to imitate the glowing red eyes?

and also, what's a good material to make her claws out of? i've heard fiberglass and the like, but honestly, i'm not sure. and how exactly to imitate the claws coming out between her knuckles while wearing gloves. i've never liked the whole gripping a bar thing i've seen some people do.

thanks.

Well, when my friend made my claws for me (http://images.cosplay.com/photos/16/1652832.jpg) he essentially just had this really thin bar of metal that ran across where the knuckles are and then had two points stick out on each end and glued the claw parts to that. He didn't have time to make suuuper nice claws so those ones are just wood w/ silver paint. I lot of people use Wonderflex, I hear but I've never made mine (the other time I was Laura I used the little kids' Wolverine claws and cut the middle claw out). I hope that helps!

How much are you wanting to spend in time and money? There are a few ways to achieve the look but it comes down to resources.
If you're strapped for $, you might consider using foam and plasti-dip for the mask. If you have some cash to spend you may look at commercially available pieces that can be modified (xtremedesignfx, etc.). Or if you have the time, cash and patience you may consider going all out and getting a lifecast then sculpting/molding the mask and pouring one yourself.
The claws are another matter but the options are pretty much the same. I did have a chance to work with someone this past weekend that uses the claws with the bar and the seemed to work really well.

First off, much love for X-23!

Second, I would personally use metal for the claws so that they're more lifelike. This will allow you to make the rest of the costume for much less money. For the mask, I would use a a stretched spandex over cloth with a wire skeleton and stretched thin red spandex for the eyes. (much cheaper than contacts)
