What do you guys think of me cosplaying Princess Tiana? ^^
I know race isn't supposed to be an issue in cosplaying, and I wish it wasn't, but I know there are some people that get all hot and bothered if someone has the wrong skin color for a character. >.> I usually don't really care what people say about that stuff, but I just don't want the number of people bugging me about it to outweigh the fun I have at the con.
But Tiana is my new favorite princess, and cosplaying her would be an absolute dream for me, so I'd probably end up doing it anyway. ^^

Honestly? Go for it! As far as I'm concerned, the more Tiana cosplayers, the better! :bigtu:
While there may be the odd person who gets all hot and bothered regarding skin colour, in my experience (speaking as a black cosplayer who looks different from roughly 99.9% of the characters I like), most people at a con tend not to care. Some of the absolute best, most dead-on cosplays I've ever seen have been by people of a race different than that of the character. Don't let any potential naysayers get in the way of creating something that you'll find fun and memorable.
Which one of her outfits did you want to do? She does have quite a few lovely ones... :)

You should do it!! As a black cosplayer I know it stinks when you feel limited on what characters you can do so no white cosplayer should be limited either^^ Any character is available for everyone!

I agree with MicMic! If we were limited to cosplay to our skin tones, then black women would not have been able to cosplay ANY Disney Princess up until a few years ago! And I've been Pocahontas and Jasmine for Halloween, so....:D

Please, do it! If you do, post a lot of pictures!
The thing is with naysayers and the like is that you need to have a thick skin. You truly can do whatever you want, down let them get you down. They simply have a different opinion than you is all you need to remember, and if someone is angry with you? Kill them with kindness! You aren't doing to hurt anyone, you're doing it because you love to cosplay! I plan on cosplaying Kida sometime this year, and I'm whiter than a feather. I plan on tanning a little bit to help add shine to my glowing whiteness, but do whatever! Just have fun. :]
