They just posted the dates a few days ago. June 17-19. Theme: Monsters vs. Hunters.

http://www.metroconventions.com/

Just wondering:
Who's going?
Who are you cosplay?
Staying at the hotel?
And how many people are actually gonna follow the theme?

I have a feeling there's gonna be a lot of zombies this year >>

I'm going, and I'm cosplaying, and as usual I'm staying at the con hotel - but that's all I have figured out. Exact costume plans TBD.

Lol, I'll be there, but I'm going to not make any early cosplay plans this year. They never seem to work out. So instead, I'm going to be going with the flow and won't actually make any plans until I've got some progress made on a costume or two.

I'm kind of dissappointed to see that Supercon and Metrcon are on the same weekend this year :/ Depending on which I choose to go I know I shall be doing:
Tomoyo: Card Captors Sakura
Ciel Phantomhive: Sleepy Hollow Dress
Sailor Neptune

I live nearby, so I'm just driving again. Yay Floridians!
So far, I'm planning Mikuo Hatsune (Vocaloid), Sokka (AtLA), Hige (Wolf's Rain), Gijinka Zubat (Pokemon), and Ame (My fursona [probably partial, but maybe full]).
I think Zubat qualifies as a monster, and in the show Hige is considered one...

These are subject to change at any time.

I just finalize my cosplay plans for next year though I don't know what I'm taking to Metro.

Belgium (Military Uniform) from Axis Powers Hetalia
Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear (Battle Outfit) from Tales of the Abyss
Misty/Kasumi from Pokémon: Heart Gold/Soul Silver
Xion from Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (I started her this year but I never finished her.)

In accord with this list, I'm doing the following for my brother:
Netherlands (Military Uniform) from Axis Powers Hetalia
Luke fon Fabre (Battle Outfit) from Tales of the Abyss
Hoshigaki Kisame from Naruto
Heiwajima Shizuo from Durarara!!

I really don't like the theme this year *dislikes anything scary* so I won't really be doing anything related to it, but I'll be there as usual. C:

So far my cosplay schedule includes~
Izaya from Durarara (anime version)
Gokudera from Katekyo Hitman Reborn (Varia arc)
Kanda from D. Gray-man (3rd or 4th uniform)

and a few other things! I was thinking Ciel from Kuroshitsuji for the masque; his visual kei outfit. And a girl cosplay or something ridiculous in there somewhere. Because after wearing Fai last year I've learned to like ridiculous. XD

Sure! I think I may have heard about it on dA (I know there were people there planning one)? Metro is still kinda far out; but I'll definitely be wearing some outfit of Kanda's over the course of the weekend. ^_^

I'm very interested in making Aisha Klan Klan from Outlaw Star for this convention. I plan on going all out for it. Another costume I'm interested in making is Bloodfrenzy Ceras Victoria from Hellsing or Jaina Proudmoore from Warcraft. Plenty of time to decide though.

This would make me one incredibly happy Outlaw Star fan, Hime. And it would be a lot of fun to cosplay from the same series with you and Chris! I could get Josh to be Harry McDougall, lol.

I always wanted to do Suzuka. XDD But I don't think I'd be able to make her this year.

In fact, we've switched out our Tales cosplays for Melty Blood ones. We'll being doing Ryougi Shiki and Kishima Kouma now.

You're doing Izaya? -Squeal- I'm so happy to hear that! I was Izaya last year and the Photoshoot was a blast!

I'll be Psychedelic Dreams Izaya (From the Soundtrack) maybe for the whole weekend.

That is if I can finish up Pierce Villiers (Heart no Kuni no Alice), Gareki (Karneval), Black Star Matagi (Black Rock Shooter), or Teen!Severus Snape (Harry Potter)

It all really depends on the people who are going to meet up with me there, but I'm definetly doing Psyche Izaya. It's my favorite/most comfortable cosplay xD

I am SO excited this year's Metro is earlier. Means that I can look forward to something after my awful finals.

The costume's I've got planned are Ilana (Sym-Bionic Titan) Eureka (Psalms of Planets: Eureka SeveN)
I'm sure I'll brainstorm something else up before the con. I've always wanted to do Saya from Blood Plus, but I guess I won't really know until a couple months ahead of time. (:

Izaya is such a fun character to cosplay, isn't he? I've only worn him like..once, so it'll be fun to actually wear to a convention. I love love love Psyche, so I'll have to get a picture with you!

Mine too! ;D
I'm doing her standard blue dress with an LFO board and headphones. I'll also be accompanied by a lovely Anemone and her Gulliver- (she was originally supposed to be Renton but we both decided she didn't look boyish enough.)
I suppose if I run out of time I'll do her cute little outfit with the helmet and blue jacket. But I doubt I will. :3

I'm not sure if I can go yet since the family vacation is within June or July (hopefully July >>).
But if I can go, Friday i'll be wearing Jill Valentine half of friday then Plenair the next half maybe. Saturday i'll be Yui Hirasawa from K-On! In her 'Don't Say Lazy' outfit. Then Sunday I won't be cosplaying. As for the hotel, I want to try to stay at the Marriott. And one of my cosplays is following the theme lol. I'm sure there will be alot of zombies.

Hi all! 8DD

So my finalized Metro schedule is as follows:
• Fri: Xion (Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days)
• Sat: Ryougi Shiki (Melty Blood)
• Sun: Belgium (Military Uniform) (Hetalia: Axis Powers)

My brother's is:
• Fri: Heiwajima Shizuo (Durarara!!)
• Sat: Kishima Kouma (Melty Blood)
• Sun: Netherlands (Military Uniform) (Hetalia: Axis Powers)

My brother is a HUGE Crispin Freeman fan too! When we found out we immediately freaked!! My brother and I love each of his roles. I hope he does a few of his lecture panels because I always find them to be so insightful!

Oh oh! And my brother can imitate his voice too so he'll be asking him tons of questions in his voice. I wonder how many people will catch it!! XDDD (And yes, my brother will totally be getting a shot of him and Crispin when he's Shizuo. XDDD)

I went fabric shopping and am ready to start on my mock-up of the Golden Phoenix outfit. Now I'm just deciding on how to do the gold on her feather headdress and bottom of the sleeve and dress.

I'm also trying to decide on if I should make the feather headdress by weaving/braiding some long faux suede laces together and weaving in the feathers that way-or-making a wire frame/headband and make a fabric backing for the top part (which will be standing straight up on top of the flat part that will be on my head) and gluing and sewing the feathers on that.

I am not a fan of zombies, but any chance to meet an author is amazing to me. I work at a bookstore, so it's given me a great talking point to mention Metrocon to customers. XD I might try to read World War Z before the con (don't think I'm going to bother with Zombie Survival Guide, too much hype and not enough interest for me).

He also wrote the new G.I. Joe graphic novel, if anyone is interested in that. I've seen it at the store but never glanced through it.

I am really excited about this year's panels. There are some great ones going up.

Also, obligatory plug, because, well, I'm here. If anyone like Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, the Con Artists are putting on a Tsubasa musical! Friday and Saturday nights! You should come check it out if you're interested. :3 I am Friday night's Miyuki-chan~

(Obligatory costume post, too: Friday is looking like Flandre (Princess Resurrection) and Miyuki-chan (Miyuki-chan in Wonderland), Saturday should see female trainer from Pokemon White/Black, Flandre, and possibly Reno, and Sunday ought to have A-20 from .hack and Flandre again.)

And with that I am done rambling!

April Fools, maybe? LOL, dunno but seems kind of random. Although it goes along with the theme in a way.

Working on a couple of costumes for a Xenogears group along with Dio Brando from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Dio is mostly in plans for AWA but I may have him done before Metro.

Ooops! I am a huge idiot and forgot to book my hotel room at the Embassy because of my crazy life. I'm now on a sort of waiting list for a room - if someone cancels their reservations I'll have a room. I'll most likely wind up staying at the Westin or something, which is cool too. I haven't even pre-ordered my badge yet what is this. XD

My costume plans are starting to change too, from what they originally were. Swapping out some anime costumes for video games. C: And maybe something secret, too!

So, I've never been to Metrocon before (despite attempting to go last year); is it normal for cosplayers to cosplay something to go along with the theme?

That being said, I think I'm actually going to make it this year. ><

I didn't think I'd even bother until a few days ago when I started chatting with some people from Megacon. Since this is my first time going to Metro (if I do go), I don't plan on doing any big cosplays or anything. Friday I may not cosplay at all, but Saturday I'll be doing a casual version of Feliciano (Italy) from Axis Powers Hetalia.

I don't even know where to begin with this convention...I'm going to be so confused.
;-;

Vadia
04-03-2011, 12:35 AM
Victoria,

Some people go with the theme, but from what I've seen most don't. Don't feel you have to, but you may find it fun to go with it. I know the hall contest on friday (where they take your picture) has/had a category for best use of theme (but it is voted on by con goers not by staff).

Admittedly I was not thrilled with the theme this year, but it's slowly been growing on me. I've had a lot of fun trying to come up with costumes that fit the theme, but are a little more off the beaten path.

As for progress, got to use my caulk gun for the first time today. I'm pretty happy with it.

Now that Megacon is over, it's time to start work on Metro costumes!!

Metro is going to be all about Mass Effect 2 for me. If all goes according to plan I'll be cosplaying Gabby, the Normandy SR2 engineer, FemShep in the Kasumi formal wear, and Femshep in her N7 armor for the contest. I LOVE Mass Effect :)

It'll be my first time making full-out armor. I've made little bits and pieces, like for Momohime, but nothing this complicated. I have a feeling I'll be calling my friends a lot for advice. It'll be nice to take a break from sewing after trainer Paine.

I really don't plan on following the theme. First of all, I'm not super crazy about it (I've never been crazy about stuff like monsters/zombies) and second, I kind of already decided what I'm going to wear before even really taking a look at what the theme is. ^^;

This is my first time going to Metrocon and I have no intentions of doing anything big. >< I just want to get a feel for what Metro's like, especially because it'll be my first convention out of Orlando.

That being said, I can't wait to get started on my outfit for the con!...But I have to, because I have a paper due tomorrow. Oh well, hopefully I can get started soon. <3

I think I might be able to make something new for Metro after all. I hope to make Baby Doll's costume from Sucker Punch. It looks easy and fun, most importantly cheap to make!

I'm not planning on competing at Metro, which makes me a little sad. It always ends up if I compete with something big at Mega, I don't have the time or money to make something worthy at Metro, or vise versa. Metro is definitely more of a party convention for me and my friends anyway. Manager's reception, yes please!

For those who know me (or of me), I cannot confirm or deny my appearance at MetroCon this year. More specifially, I may or may not be there on Saturday to just take pictures. IF I show up, I might make it more of a game to find me if you'd like a photoshoot (or I might just be lazy and lobby camp). I'll know more when the con gets closer (i.e. the week before)!

Oooookay....Metro is really coming up fast! I went to have a look at the costume contest page on the website and I saw this:

Thank you for showing interest in the 2011 METROCON Costume Contest! For the third year in a row we are excited to return as hosts to the Yume Cosplay Prize Regional Competition in partnership with New York Anime Festival and New York Comic Con! Here is everything you will need to know in order to qualify and compete.

I thought the Yume cup wasn't having regional qualifiers this year, yet Metro claims to be a regional site (and lacks any appropriate rules info or links)?? I know the person doing the costume contest is new this year....hopefully this will get updated sooner rather than later. Website updates have been woefully few this year....and the forums are fairly abysmal for getting questions answered in a timely manner.

Can anyone close to the con/on staff clear things up about this?

can't wait for Metro! Mass Effect 2 cosplays all weekend, including formal Femshep from the Kasumi DLC and Gabby the engineer (not Kelly! I can't stand her character!). I made a Carnifex hand cannon and a Ryncol bottle for fun. Most everything was done before Mega, after the last con I've been super lazy making anything - I didn't want to see my sewing machne for a long while after completing Paine. The only thing I've sewn since then is a giant squid pillow.

I won't be competing at Metro after all, but I'll cheer for everyone. It always feels weird not entering the contest, but it does free up time for shenanigans with friends at the manager's reception.

This might be my last big con for a while, money is going to be tight the coming year, so mega and Metro might take a hit because of gas/hotel costs. I plan on making this Metro extra super awesome.

Not sure what I'm wearing on Saturday yet, but whatever it is will be something from my closet. Fellow cosplay.com users, this is my first time at Metrocon and I have a question.

When I bought a 3 day pass to Megacon, I ended up getting that plastic red wristband for the weekend. However, at numerous other cons I've been to in the past, I've gotten a badge on a lanyard. It sounds like Metrocon gives out badges for weekend passes (from what I'm looking at on the site) is that correct?

Kitsune

Yes, weekend passes come in the form of badges at Metrocon. I can't recall if weekend passes get clips or lanyards, though. The daily passes are wristbands.

Methusalah - Have you submitted your panel yet? You'll want to do so quickly if you haven't. Many slots are filled, and if you submit or schedule later than May 31, your panel will not be listed in the Con Guide. There will be a corrected panel schedule sheet for people to pick up, but many people lose that. And it makes my job easier the less changes there are after May 31 and I appreciate any extra ease in my job. XD <3

I am almost done with Flandre! Now to just finish and then do ALL MY OTHER COSTUMES. *sigh* And then finish Whose Line prep, I am so nervous. :x Finished learning most of my choreography for the Tsubasa musical - who'd have thought that learning dance choreography would be so much harder than learning fight choreography?

I'm not holding my breath, to be completely honest with you. I'll be surprised if I hear anything before I get to the con....I usually check in at the cosplay desk right away to make sure everything's in order.

Add to the non-communication factor that the assistant person was fairly rude when I pointed out a few errors on the contest page on the Metro forum. This makes me a bit worried about how the contest is being run this year. I know the director is new and all....but still. This is my LAST metro so I'm hoping things will turn out better than expected, contest-wise.

My deepest apologies for worrying everyone via email. over the past few days I have gotten confirmation that over 20 people's email boxes were sending my emails to their spam folders. please check your spam box if you have NOT heard from me and please email me as well. or post here on the forum.

my apologies for not being here on Cosplay.com until now, I had problems with my account....it's been 8 years since this account was created, but sadly I have not been an active member for over 2 and 1/2 years (I moved 200+ miles away, got married and started a family), so my account was deactivated and was unable to make posts, I've been waiting for my account to reactivate and to be able to make posts here on the forums, my account is now back and active and I can now post on the forums again.

more apologies about the main metro site inaccurate information found on a few spots ....even still. My second and I do not have access to the main metro site and can not make adjustments or corrections without the severmaster. all I can do is make constant requests that the pages be edited from inaccurate information to accurate. I'll request that the costume and cosplay pages be put up with the contest pages (along with idol/picture this and amv, as they'll be easier to find(we got in many many emails for people who could not locate the cosplay and costume pages))and for myself and my second to be able to make corrections for those site pages for future MetroCon's.

I know I was brought onto the staff a little late in the game, but I assure you my second and I are trying our best to get the servermaster to fix inaccuracy's on the site as well as answering emails, going through entries for prereg, idol, picture this and Hall/costume/cosplay contests and schedules for all of the above.

my team and I are going to do our best to try and make all of this years Cosplay related events wonderful and fun for everyone at Metro. ^_^

as it says on the Metro pages please contact me if you have any question, prereg's for contests, or if you just want to say hi and introduce yourself ^_^
my email is: natalie@ladysaiyuki.com

I normally answer emails within 24-48hours of receiving them (if I don't answer you within this time frame please check your spam boxes and make sure my emails are not going to your spam box, as this has been a sizable problem this month (I will not send bulk emails anymore as this was the big problem it seemed))

Everyone who preregistered will not have to bring in prints of their forms, we already have everyone who has preregistered forms printed out and in a folder (we are waiting for the closing date of prereg to finalize the schedule for Prejudging and the first week of June we will send out emails to everyone with their official time slots and day for prejudging)
everyone in who has prereg'd as well as those who haven't yet will have to bring print outs of reference photo's as well as in-progress photos. Those we will not print out even if they are sent with your prereg forms, the printer I have right now is black and white only....so I'm leaving it up to the cosplayers to bring in their reference and in-progress photos.

I saw it was mentioned that someone thought my second to be rude on the Metro forums, my apologies for this, I can assure you she didn't mean to come off as rude. we have received well over 100 emails about inaccuracies on the site, but please understand, I am not lying to you when I tell you I have sent many many many emails to the servermaster to change all inaccuracies, but only a few are changed at a time and then I have to recheck again and again and still inaccuracies are found and all we can do is request they be fixed, we have no access at all to change the Metro site....all we can do is adjust and change entry forms submitted on mycons for all the contests we are in charge of and we have access to emails for all contestants and their forms, that is all, i truly am sorry about the many problems with the Metro site and the many problems people were having with the mycons uploading, all I can do is request for changes and ask for next year that many things change and be made better, I will do my best to improve on all this as much as possible for next year, and I will do all I can to make sure Metro 2011 is the best is can be with the provisions and staff I have.
Lainabug can confirm if she's up to it, it's not easy to get adjustments made to the metro site in general (Laina was Metro's wonderful Cosplay Director/coordinator for quite some time)
* ^.^ hugs on Laina for letting people know what was going on, you are wonderful ^.^ *

I look forward to seeing all of you at Metro in all of your awesome costume choices ^_^

wow all this changing email and updating stuff on my cosplay.com account made me realize i haven't uploaded any pics since they changed the site in like 2005...wow ^^; I have made close to 100 new costumes since I last uploaded a photo here ^^; I'll have to go through a ton o photos and hunt up some images of my newer costumes ^^;
I've made a few for my little girl ^_^ she cosplayed a color variant Shia from Pita'ten as well as Haruhi from Host club...and I've made a ton of costumes for my husband too I'll try and get on that over the next month or two....but Metro will come first ^_^ I promise.

I'm still on the fence about making BabyDoll (Sucker Punch) and competing, or just wearing casual Mass Effect stuff all weekend. I'll go to Joann's this weekend for the Memorial Day sale and see what happens there :)

Ding dong it's almost done!!! At this point, it's just about attaching the front panels to the armor and putting in all the clasps! Everything is is FINISH!!!

On a side note, I just know I am going to get stepped on at the con T_T AND, there is a lot of white on the costume. Oh my.

I've decided to save my Naegino Sora costume for a convention next year as it'll take me longer than expected to finish it. In the mean time, I'll be making Kobato Hanato's Okimono Kimono cover art kimono for Metrocon. Since I won't be focusing my time and resources on the two costumes I'll be able to put all my energy and time into finishing Kobato's kimono. I'm really excited to finally make it after dreaming about it the past year.

Go Pantsu Go!

So, looking through my costumes, I -think- I have an idea of what I am bringing.

Friday: Suki from ATLA
Saturday: Ayeka from Tenchi/Hakafu from Ikki Tousen/Terrance from South Park
Sunday: Ayeka

Have to think small and easy to pack since Ayeka is taking up so much room as is!

It's official, I'll be at MetroCon all day Saturday taking pictures! ^_^ Hopefully I'll make it in on Friday around 7pm, so that'll still give me time to do some night shoots if people. want. I'm not scheduling any shoots, like how I did for MegaCon. I'll be either going to group photoshoots or doing it on the spot. Yaaaay!

I just wanted to warn everyone that both the Metrocon official website as well as the mycons site is currently down. if the site is down for more than a couple of hours I will make sure the prereg for costume as well as Picture this and Idol submissions are extended by a day to make up for the inconvenience of the site being down.

I was assured the everything was being done to get the site back up and running, by Verizon and by Metro staff. our apologies for the inconveniences this has caused everyone trying to access the site

if you have any questions regarding Idol/picture this/or the Costume contest don't hesitate to email me at: natalie@ladysaiyuki.com
and I'll do anything I can to help you find answers to your questions ^_^

The Embassy still has plenty of rooms available, just not at Con Pricing. I honestly prefer the Marriott more; I'm a Marriott Rewards member, and more/faster elevators. The Embassy could easily solidify the deal if the overpass was covered (like the ones in Atalanta for Dragon*Con)...

I just wanted to let everyone know that the MetroCon official site as well as the mycons portion of the site are currently down and have been down since early afternoon today, as most know today was the deadline for Idol submissions, costume prereg, and picture this submissions.
due to the site being down for several hours on the deadline date we're going to extend the deadlines for all 3 competition online submissions for another day, possibly 2 more days depending on if the site goes back up today or tomorrow. I'll post tomorrow to let everyone know about the new deadlines. and will make as many accommodations as I can due to this set back.

sorry for the inconveniences, Metro is doing everything they can to get the site back up and running ^^; if you have any questions don't hesitate to email me: natalie@ladysaiyuki.com

When I booked my room a couple of weeks ago, I went through a travel agent that's a friend of my parents and even she couldn't get us an open room at the Embassy, con rate or no! The hotel was completely sold out at that point. Though the front desk did tell us that as Metro comes closer, they get cancellations and rooms open up, so that's probably what happened in this case. ^_^

I'm staying at the Marriott for the first time this year, and it's cool that a lot of people have good things to say about it! (Having more elevators sounds like an amazing, amazing thing after the craziness that is Embassy check-out :D)

Cosplay-wise, I started on Caeda's armor! I'm going with craft foam, and I was able to find a huge, ridiculous roll on clearance at Michael's. I'm going to use Model Magic for the designs, spray them gold, glue them on, and then cover it all in Mod Podge. I bought a dark brown corduroy like fabric instead of leather for the straps, because craft foam is rather thin and I can also use it for my belts. So much work left! I finish school in two days, so after that I'll be crafting and sewing all day lol.

Travel Agents book rooms the same way as online sites (i.e. Travelocity, Hotels.com, Expedia, etc) do, they get an amount of rooms that they're allowed to sell at those "lower rates." If you book directly through Embassy's site, you'll still be able to book a room (just tried and made it all the way to CC info before I closed it).

If I remember correctly, Marriott has either 6 or 8 elevators. The only "down side" to the Marriott is that it's probably a minute further thant he Embassy and the two story flight of stairs are the closest way in...

I tried it myself both on the hotel's website and over the phone with the front desk there before calling the travel agent. XD

I'd take the longer walk over having to walk down 18 flights of stairs because of a lack of elevator. LOL

Actually, the website shows friday as the last day. >.> Most of us were counting on having that long.

Sadly enough the website still had several mistakes on it before the site went down. ^^; but the date that submissions were due for all competitions I was in charge of all were suppose to have the same deadline date.
but I would have made exceptions due to the mistake on the website.
but now due to the Metro Site still being down we are extending the deadline, all the deadlines listed. ^.^

prereg for Costume, idol demo submissions as well as Picture this entries will be excepted until June 6th (Monday), 2011
if the site isn't back up by midnight tonight we will accept email submissions for all three competitions.
Emails submissions must have the competition 'type' in the Subject line (ie.2011 Metrocon Costume Contest Registration, 2011 Metrocon Picture This Entry, 2011 Metrocon Anime Idol submission, etc)

send emails to me: natalie@ladysaiyuki.com

^_^ and also please email me if you have any random questions I may be able to help with as well ^_^

and Foos I look forward to your submission ^_^

also as a small warning, I noticed pantsu posted that she sent in an idol entry I know there was one other that submitted their entry between 5pm April 31 and early morning June 1st before the site went down....I did not get to hear or see your entries and I really wanted to let you know.

if the site isn't back up in time for the June 6th newly extended deadline for Idol I'm not 100% if I can count one of the two submissions received during that time.
(I've got Pantsu's email because she submitted a prereg for Costume before hand, so I could contact her via email and request that she email me her idol submission due to the site being down) but I do not know who the other entrant was, so I don't know if I have their contact info should the website not come back up in time.
but Pantsu, should the website not come up by the 6th, I'll be sending you an email requesting a resubmission of your idol demo O.O sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. ^^;

also a heads up, the Metro/mycons sites went down due to the many electrical storms we have in the Tampa bay area and I was Told by Metro Staff that Verizon is doing everything they can to get Metro's sites back online as soon as possible.

just a mini update the main Metro site seems to have gotten back up, but sadly the mycons portion is still down it seems....so onward to email entries until further notice ^^;

also I've gotten a surprising number of emails for AMV contestant entrants O.O sadly I do not run the AMV contest for Metro so I can't accept email submissions for this contest (sadly enough I don't know who is in charge of the AMV contest ^^; but now due to many quesitons I will find out)...
if the site is not up by morning when I wake up, I will contact Metro for an update as well as what to do to direct AMV hopeful's to an email where they may be able to work out email submissions of some sort ^^;

just to let those know who have been somewhat randomly emailing me about all sorts of Fun Metro-ness, the contests I'm actually in charge of are: Costume, Cosplay, Anime Idol, Picture This, and the Friday/Saturday Hall contest....but if you have any random questions about other categories for Metro don't hesitate to ask, I may know where to point you in the right direction to get where and who you need to, so please please don't think I posted this cause I feel I'm being bothered by extra emails. it's just that there are quite a few people who seem to think I'm in charge of more than I really am ^^;

Hey there LadySayuki....I got a note from Mallory on the Metro forum that my entry is in the system and she's got my files. Just keep me posted if it got garbled/lost or something and I can resend it to you gals.

I actually have a prop question for once, lol (I usually don't have weapon props). I've got a Gokaiger costume that has a toy gun: here's a picture of what it looks like (http://gwing-online.com/images/categories/rangers/ranger_gokai_gun_1.jpg). It doesn't fire anything and it doesn't look particularly real (especially with the ranger key part popped up). Is this going to pass weapons check? I'm not about to paint the barrel tip orange as i spent a lot importing it from Japan. Worse case scenario I can just carry Mobirates....

Hey there Pantsu ^_^ the mycons site is back up and we have your file entry no problem, sorry for the scare O.O but thanks so much for your understanding ^_^

as for your prop, doesn't' look like a replica gun-well a replica of a realistic gun, great cosplay replica....it does look toy-ish and as long as you are willing to put the overly bright "weapons check sticker" I really don't see why it would be rejected, as long as it's not made of metal...is it? but I agree painting on a gorgeous cosplay replica is a horrific idea, especially for an expensive one ^^; but as long as it's not metal and you can't load real bullets I see no reason for it to be rejected by security ^_^ I just highly recommend not waiving it around the nearby convention areas, such as Publix, First Watch restaurant, etc....
other than that you should be good ^_^

only thing is, instead of the 7th like I originally projected as the new deadline date, is now cut by a day it's now Monday June 6th O.O
sorry about that everyone....if you desperately need that extra day, please please let me know and I'll see what I can do....

please everyone submit any and all entries via the mycons website ^_^ and I will contact those who have submitted entries to me the past few days and ask if they are up to reentering their info on the mycons website O.O to make things a little easier for me ^^;

I'm happy things seem to be fine now!

Lady Saiyuki, I'm echoing others: I hope you make it to the con with all that on your plate! I ran a one-day event and that alone was enough to deal with. I can't imagine you dealing with all that for three days! @A@;; Good luck!

Now that said event is over, I'm super excited and con jitters are fluttering! I'm working on my checklist for packing and getting started on Shiki's sword. Haha, I just have silly dreams that make me excited.

For insistence, my brother LOVES Crispin Freeman and can even imitate his voice. So in one of my dreams we were at his panel and my brother (who will be cosplaying Shizuo; a character Crispin voices) asked him a question in his voice. Crispin was totally flabbergasted and they both, at the same time, fulfilled line requests. It was like stereo mode Crispin Freeman. XDDDD Great dream, great dream.

I hope my dream comes true, but I certainly wouldn't wish your dreams to come true! XDD

On a similar note, my pants for Kasuka came in today. D: Much earlier than expected. Woot!

Con nightmares are making it so hard to sleep lately; but I stand by the reasoning that when I dream about it going wrong, it doesn't go wrong for real, so I'm trying to take the dreams as they come. Some of them are awful, though. D:

I thought with the panel cut-off date, people would slow down with questions and new panels and I would have a chance to work on my own panels, but alas, I was wrong. I really need to make a working time machine so I can get everything done. x_x Almost done with my Masquerade costume, but I still have TWO COSTUMES left to START. I wish my costumes weren't all so light in color, or I'd bring 'em out to rehearsal to work on.

I don't think I'll have time to make BabyDoll after-all; I have a lot of stuff to do at Quail Lab [I conduct research about development using the cutest baby quail chicks - but don't worry, after we do our research the quail go to a farm near the everglades].

All the costumes I'm bringing are comfy - perfect for hanging out and drinking! I'll be bringing Mass Effect stuff, as well as Ryoko [Tenchi] and Mio [K-On!]. I'll squeeze some other stuff in my suitcase as well, always good to have options!

Moonfall, I have that second problem ALL the time. I remember trying to finish my last Gambit costume... we went through THREE sewing machines, buying two new ones just to try to finish the costume and breaking those, too, and resorting to a lot of handstitching and tape...

I can't help with the first, but I recently had that second problem again while working on my apron for Flandre (it took like two days because of sewing, bunching thread mess, taking stitches out, and repeating). After getting halfway done in two days, we took the machine apart and found some thread stuck in the mechanisms (I do not know my way around technical terms at all, but I do know that it was in the arm part that moves when the wheel that controls the needle was turned). Maybe checking for snapped thread caught in the machine will help?

AUGH MIYUKI SKIRT. T_T It has four panels of 45 inches of fabric. I don't want to pleat all that today. Still need to finish the bow for Flandre's apron and trim the wig and add some snaps, finish the skirt and altering the shirt and make the apron for Miyuki, and START A-20 still. Plus e-mail some more panelists, fix the schedule, make the checking schedule, pick up a couple odd jobs mowing or something to buy flats of water for panelists and Red Bull for me and my team (and hotel money and food), remember and teach my blocking for Miyuki in the Tsubasa musical, help finish up the Whose Line auditions and get the show information out to my co-host and, and, and I should probably add breathe in there. A lot. XD

That is my rant, I feel a little better... I am so not ready to be ten days out from the con.

I washed my wigs, already getting everything organized, making sure I have all the components of each costume ready. 10 days?! 10 DAYS!!

I can't wait to wear Ryoko again. I've only worn the costume to this weird photoshoot thing that didn't even result in any good photos. It'll be 1000x better cosplaying with *Kai*, Korin, & Cheifchan as Ayeka, Washu, & Ryo-Ohki, respectively. <3 Tenchi

Only thing left I want to make is a datapad for my Mass Effect costumes. It'll bee kind crappy, but I totally envision myself loosing it or leaving it behind on a table somewhere anyway, lol.

Does anyone know about a white dry erase pen? I'm making the datapad surface out of plexiglass and would like to write fun things on it, but still be able to wipe it clean and write something serious occasionally :D

That would be amazing! I'll confirm with everybody what day we're planning on wearing Tenchi stuff.

Spent this afternoon watching Sister Act and making the butt pouches for my ME2 uniform. I usually can't hold anything in my costumes, but this one has TONS of pockets. I <3 pockets. Other than that, making my datapad after lunch.

Welp. This Washu wig is driving me bananas. Serves me right for trying to custom dye a wig. Never again, you hear! If only cosworx had longer wigs in the raspberry color. It's the color that I wanted to use. >.< Ah well. I think I'll just have to be okay with it being a bit too purple and not the exact color I was hoping for since time is running out.

Oh my. Would the Laurel have worked if you straighten it? I know it's curly but curly is often deceitful when it comes to length. In any case, good luck finishing! I'm sure it will look amazing, regardless of the color being a little off.

Well, I'm finishing up Shiki's sword and my packing list. Tomorrow I need to go get some ribbon to wrap the sword's hilt. My "Metro Week" begins on Monday so I'm pretty much freaking out now. XDDD

Nekomimi: I know I am wearing mine part of Saturday for pre-judging and a shoot with Morataya. I'll then wear it again on Sunday for the actual contest. I think we should wear them for a bit on Saturday to get some awesome pictures. Plus, that's the busier day too. =3

Edit:

Also, I think we -may- have two others, dressed as Tenchi and Kyone.

It's 3:45 in the morning, and I am still working on my wolf Mikuo. It is turning out well, so I think it will be worth the extra effort. ^^ I have discovered that using yarn in lieu of fur is quite time consuming. However, it is so much cheaper.

I guess it's about a week until Metro huh? I've never been to this con, so it probably won't hit me until I actually start driving to Tampa or get there. ^^;

I've got 2 cosplays planned now and hopefully both should be done soon. I just have to finish sewing my plaid pants (I'm about half way done), make my scarf, paint a design on my t-shirt, and add ribbon to a gondolier hat. Hopefully all will be done soon.

Unfortunately not. Her hair is suuuuuper long in the back and I would have needed extra extensions anyways. Ah well. I've got my wig and extensions in a new batch of dye which is PERFECT! I can't wait for them to dry so I can start styling it! Going to be spending tomorrow sewing the outfit.

I know there's been talk of wearing Tenchi on Saturday, I could definitely throw Washu on in the morning if one of you gals don't mind helping me get into Cephalos afterwards?

I need to stop getting the bright idea to finish Harold. That costume does not want to be finished. It's just, the weirdest thing. :( And every time I start to work on it, there's something I already did to it a while back that I can't stand, and some things aren't exactly fixable without remaking the entire thing. Blah. Ah well, at this point I'll just show up wearing whatever, Harold or not, haha.

Aha. I believe I answered you on FB, but on the map posted by DavinDaLilAzn, the garage next to the Embassy listed as South Regional Garage has $10 parking in which you pay when you leave the garage. So if you park on Friday and never take your car out until Sunday, it's only $10. Quite convenient for those in nearby hotels.

I'm going to try the $10 parking this year! Last time we parked with the hotel valet - big mistake!! They charge something ridiculous for the weekend. Driving up from Miami Thursday; getting some new songs for the drive up. I'M SO EXCITED!!

I have Tuesday off this week to finish everything and start packing. Today and Wednesday are full of work/school and a trip to the dentist :(

Ten dollar parking sounds fabulous... I wish I didn't have so many things to take straight from the car to the TCC, I need to use the TCC's parking garage. Though, really, twenty dollars for car storage from Thursday to Monday isn't bad, I suppose. Might look at the other garage this year and consider it for next year. XD

OMG. Why is it so close? D: Today is house chores and getting A-20's dress together and my props for Whose Line, tomorrow is loading the convention truck and maybe hopefully finishing A-20, and then Wednesday is shopping, finishing everything else, and paaaaacking. Metrocon starts Thursday at 10 AM for me. XD

Safe travels to everyone flying and driving from near and far! I can't wait to hopefully see everyone, even if just in passing!

I'll be honest, last year, when we parked there, there was no one at the exit to take our money nor was there a bar so we just left. We were never mailed a bill. We basically got free parking all weekend. XDDD That didn't happen the year before, but it's worth noting that you might actually have free parking. XDDD

I also downloaded a sh** ton new songs for my drive up! XDD (Including the Starship OST.) Good luck with your last minute things! (I'm finishing up Shiki's sword, my binding shirt, and going to the bank today myself.) Can't wait to see you there!

As stated above, with the possibility of being free, I highly recommend it. Maybe if you got a bunch of staffers and/or friends to meet you there and help you transport stuff? Especially if other staffer/friends are parking there anyway. c:

Good luck! Don't overwork yourself! It's gonna be a long weekend. (Until Sunday, and then it seems so short. ): )

I'm pretty f**king excited! XDD I got so extreme con jitters this morning that threatened me finishing my breakfast, but I plowed through it because I'm a firm believer in breakfast powering your day. And I'ma need all the power I can get cause I have so much minor stuff to do today, tomorrow, and Wednesday!

Today: Finishing minor craft-stuffs for the con. "Finalizing" packing list (because it's never really finalized until your driving up and can't do anything about it). Go to the bank/finalize budget.
Tomorrow: Laundry day for both me and my brother. Food shopping (snacks and dinners).
Wednesday: Packing. Leaving in the evening for Weston to stay with our driver and roomies.

We're leaving at ~noon on Thursday and should be in Tampa some time between 3 and 4! We'll be picking up our badges then too~

I can't wait for the magic Metro brings! The costumes, the chess match, the masquerade, the guests (Crispin and Scooooooot), the panels and everything else!! I love Metro so much and I'm looking forward to all of Team Dynamite and their wonderful staffers' hard work paying off!

Wow, alot of you guys are leaving on Thursday. I'll be leaving on Thursday too! We hope to be out of Jupiter around 10ish, if not noon at the latest. I'm getting excited! Hopefully no sickness or injuries either!
Sakura is almost finished! The bulk of the outfit is being made by the same person who made my Kairi skirt and tie, so I know it'll look great! The gloves are being overnighted and are on their way, I just gotta make the yellow tie thing, the thing on the tie, the headband and the undershirt (which i'm modifying from a shirt i found in a thrift store).
Oh man, this week is going to be hectic!

I'm actually in Tampa now because I'm on a college tour (it's 3 days; six major state schools)! XD I go back to Ft. Lauderdale tomorrow night, and then leave for Metro super early Friday morning.

I still have costume things to finish! Yuffie's armor needs to be repainted and sealed, and I need to make the armor pieces and foldover tops for Caeda's shoes, sew the trim on her dress, put together and paint her spear, fix the wig, and finish her belts. And I have basically one night and one day.

I actually think I'm going to wind up entering Caeda in the costume contest. Oh gosh. I leave for the con in less than two hours! :x I got mostly done with everything... Miyuki's a bit unfinished, and some of A-20's decorations still need to be sewn on, and I can't find all the right pieces to Saint Tail... but I'm telling myself not to worry about it. Saturday I'm going very casually as Saint Tail (even wearing glasses instead of contacts!) and wearing my Gambit gloves, that should be interesting. XD

This has been my year for not getting costumes done up to my standards... but I think it will balance out in the awesomeness of the shows and panels I'm helping with and gave me more time to get panels in better order this year~ I'm looking forward to testing out my projector for the couple of panels that didn't get scheduled in 19 that need A/V.

I should go back to packing. I hope to see everyone there this weekend (or today)! <3 If you like Tsubasa, please check out the Tsubasa musical on Friday and Saturday nights~ I'll be the Miyuki-chan on Friday. And if you like .hack or if you've enjoyed the Con Artists' questing events in the past (Naruto Chunin Exams/Festival and Legend of Zelda event), please check out .hack//INTERFERENCE on Sunday afternoon! There's also a K-Pop showcase on Saturday, Whose Line Is It Anime? Friday and Saturday and Mask Making on Friday! I think that's it for the Con Artists. XD Seriously, though, check into all the panels that you can. There's a really interesting variety this year and I can't wait to sample them all. :3

Safe travels everyone!
