View Full Version : How to do Nihonloid's costume?

There was a thread up for it, but the person decided on an original (and pretty fantastic) design to do.

I'm looking to cosplay Nihonloid, but I'm not really quite sure how to make his outfit.

Here's some references:

So, any ideas? Thank you!

Also, any ideas on headgear, such as the microphone?

Were you referring to my post, by any chance?

I've been looking up various tutorials for the headsets, with the original intention of customizing a working pair, but instead I'm thinking of following this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1PcbsJoYHY, but with a thicker headband.

Also, I was hoping to make the headphones light up with LEDs, since I'd seen some awesome pictures of other people who'd achieved that, some even managed to make the lights blink in time to music. I did find a far simpler alternative: http://www.glowsticks.co.uk/glow-badges.html Not sure if this specific supplier sells internationally or anything, but I'm sure you could find something similar.

As for the outfit, I was in the Victoria & Albert museum a few weeks back, and they had a section devoted to Japanese culture. They had that kind of clothing on display there but I cannot remember what it was called. I'll get back to you on that.

Yes, I was referring to your post. ^^

I like the headphones!

And yeah, I'd appreciate knowing what it was called, thanks!

I found out the name while I was browsing the Gaia Online Marketplace, weirdly enough. It's called a "Kariginu".

Yeah, I discovered that too, earlier this week. ^^ I'm using this pattern http://www.jmarket.com/product.php?productid=27102,

However, I have also seen the suikan which looks similiar (though I'm going with the Kariginu)
