I need some serious help! I'm making a vulpix gijinka for Katsucon, but I'm totally lost when it comes to the tails! I already know that I'll be using industrial wire attached to a belt to hold them up, but I have no idea what fabric to use!! I've found a few faux-fur websites online, but I'm in over my head. I have no idea what length fur to use, how much is a reasonable price, or even really how to work with faux-fur. I've considered long anti-pil fleece as well, but I'm not sure it'll look enough like fur... any ideas?

I'm also a bit confused on color. In the pictures I've found, Vulpix is shown as having burnt-orange tails and ears, though in the anime Brock's vulpix had red ails and ears. I don't know which color to go for!

Thanks so much everyone, I'm sorry for bugging you with this but I really do need some help. Any suggestions and/or ideas are more than welcome!!

I would use a fur that is shorter because it would be easier to work with and to get the curls at the end of the tails. I would use the more orange color because vupix is supposed to be based off of a fox.

Heres the official art for vulpix:

Heres a picture of the type and color of fur I would use.

Im not an expert on furs, so I am not sure where you would be able to buy that type of fur (well if you lived by me there is a fabric shop that has it but im pretty sure you dont).

Well anyway I hoped I helped a little bit.

This is a great tutorial, your tail won't be the same shape but I used the basic knowledge in here to make a big Cheshire Cat tail:

Especially look at number 5, I never would have thought of this but it made a world of difference in how my tail looked.

hello i am making a full ninetails i can say the shorter the fur the more seems show i suggest the fur to be around 3/4 to an inch is what seems to be the most popular length. for the tails design i suggest getting cheep felt and make some prototypes so not to risk using fur to make the curl i just drew the tail and cut it out than stuffed it with cotton. or you can try using a foam noodle(swimming pool) cut it into sections than re attach them in the shape you want with short pieces of elastic this holds the shape than add the fur around with cotton to fill it out.
