Hello guys! ;D

It's Rin.Kagamine again . . with . . yet another question thread. . e__e

Uhm, so!

I (I've mentioned this so many times it's not funny!) I'm making a Rin Kagamine cosplay.

So, I know what to do for everything else, but my arm warmers.

I want to stand out! I don't want to be plain, and boring.

I want to screen print, and then make it light up. Kind of like this :

And this :

Note : I can't get anything off ebay.

I want them sound activated. ;D

No more than $40 dollars to make them, please!

Also, the supplies have to come from stores like Joann's, Michael's , Wal-Mart , Best Buy, and places like that in the Southeast area.

Plain and simple, with all of your limitations that's just not possible.

Screen printing is easy and you can achieve a pretty solid looking design with simple supplies from national retailers, but in order to make armbands that light up you would need a supplier that sells EL tape or EL wire, and unless you live in a major metropolitan area that means you'd need to order them off the internet. Regardless of ordering or not, you would still need the technical know-how and tools to solder them to an inverter for a power source, and making them sound activated just adds another impossible problem given your limitations. They do sell sound-activated EL wire, but again that requires ordering offline and the strobe effect from products like those isn't always perfect. What you're looking at in those Youtube videos are people who have basically dedicated an insane amount of time and effort into programming and wiring their own boards for that light system, and to be completely honest you wouldn't even be able to buy a quarter of the supplies you'd need to make that for $40. Volpin did something similar to what you're thinking of doing here (http://volpinprops.blogspot.com/2010/07/daft-punk-final.html)in terms of the light system - give it a look. This basically tells you what it takes to make something like that step by step.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :< I hope you find a good alternative & best of luck in making your costume!

I'll loosen up my limitations a bit.

I can print screen (Already have the supplies) And I would like to know how I could make them light up.

No need for sound activation. Just lighting up,

Still will cost a lot. Pixiekitty has a tutorial on them and the EL panels cost $50 alone.
Still extremely difficult with your price range.

Damn, for EL panels?

Oh and I can't exactly use EL panels unless you can find some with a design similar to Rin's.

You don't need that. You just need white EL panels and the name of some sheet (i forgot the name) that you print the design on...
Lightup stuff is expensive. A light up sword I'm making is costing $80+ alone :/

Don't they have like, LED strips, with like... velcro on them? Or some kindof tape?
And yeah, it'll be over 40$ I think.
