And no quoting Monty Python and the Holy Grail at me. That has been done to death. The airspeed velocity of an unladen European swallow is 24mph, while an African swallow can only go up to 22mph. You're welcome.

I dunno, every time I see In Cadmium's signature, it reminds me of the essay my two exchange students found in the library one day and brought home because they couldn't believe American high school students were really that stupid. Someone had printed it and left it on the printer. It went something like this:

---
Mexico

I like Mexico. It is a nice country. Mexico has sunshine. It is warm. I want to go to Mexico some day
---

Seriously, my 3rd grader could write a better essay. I told my students they never have to worry about their English around here, and sure enough, they were the ones helping their classmates...

Oh, and here's my question... Sam Vimes, where is my snow? It hasn't snowed at all in my part of Kansas this year, and I want to know where it went. I suspect the dwarves have buried it somewhere under Ankh Moorpork, but I figured you would know for sure...

Panty & Stocking is becoming popular because of teenage girls; the world will indeed last long after any of our natural life spans have run their course (or any human endeavor); Mongol hoards are all dead, but when they were around...3,274 boards, or 3,270 if you want to round it off; magnets, in case you weren't paying attention, work via fucking miracle; you'll find the rum is at your local liquor store, along with the rest of its considerable family tree; the beef, if I'm not mistaken, is in Wendy's hamburgers; magnets are a magical construct and not actually able to be employed or unemployed.

I suspect that the reason is that boobs are just so awe-inspiring, that any attempt to name an article of clothing so intimately related to them resulted in the namer losing their grasp of language.

Can pudding breath?

It doesn't have to, but I hope you like a thin film of moisture on your pudding when you decide to go back to it.

How much wood can a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Depends on what's at stake. If it's the well-being of their family, they'll chuck until their little paws are bleeding or they collapse from exhaustion, whichever comes first.

What is you current favorite band/group/solo act? And which song would be you favorite from said band/group/solo act?

Tough one. I'm going through a rather relaxed period, so I'd say Toubab Krewe. The song that caught my ear was "Djarabi."

This is the hardest question i can think of for now. Which band is better? Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath?

Always Zepp for me. Sabbath is good, don't get me wrong, but their style is narrower. Also, I have an eternal hard-on for the blues.

Becoming totally irate and saying 'no' to any kind of come on works really well. It doesn't make you any friends, but I doubt the people coming to you are interested in that to begin with :P

Otherwise, Flora's suggestion has some merit --- grow a mustache!

I'm with Penny Dreadful on this. I cannot conceive of a reason why someone would drag you out of bed by your hair... unless they wanted to kidnap you and stuff you in a sack.

So I think the appropriate response next time it happens would be a punch to the friend's face. Then your friend can come on this thread and ask Sam Vimes, "why does my friend punch me in the face every time I drag her by the hair?"... and all will be resolved. :D

that's helpful, right? I'm helping? :spinner:

You could try this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wRXa971Xw0). It works for her.

Though personally I just go for the polite but straightforward approach:
"Thank you, but I'm not interested in dating." or "Nothing personal, but I'd like to be alone now."
It worked in the past. There's not much you can do to prevent people from asking, other than being somehow intimidating, but it's pretty easy to politely decline people. As long as they're sane and respectful. The douche canoes are a whole other story and I say it's pretty no-holds-barred in that case.

Is it true costume designers designed Nazi uniforms?

OOH! OOH! I can answer that one, since SV's asleep on my legs right now.

Many of the Nazi uniforms were produced and supplied by Hugo Boss, a German fashion designer. The fashion house he established still exists today; you can buy Boss brand items in many department stores. Hugo Boss was, however, not the primary designer, simply the manufacturer.

The black SS uniforms which are so familiar to most of us were created by a graphic designer in conjunction with an artist who was responsible for much of the SS regalia.

The progression and design of the uniforms overall had much to do with
a) revamping WWI uniforms
b) supplies they had on hand
c) traditional German symbolism
d) political shifts where it became desirable to designate between different groups and factions
so there were many factors that went into the various permutations.

Boy, did it ever. Ennis is really phoning it in with this series. I bother to check up on whats going on about once or twice a year, only to shake my head in disdain.

Yeah, there's some legitamely good ideas in there, but then a ton of stupidity and toilet humor which kind of kills it for me. I'm kind of glad it's ending at 60, although it could should have only been 24 issues at most IMO.

Things I also miss from comics: GOOD, timely Warren Ellis stuff. Seems like FOREVER since there's been an Ellis book I cared about.

If you got to get drunk and party with any historical figure for the entire weekend, who would it be?

Who will be the Republican Nomination in 2012

Will there be Peace in the Middle East

And Who really let the Dogs out

1. Not Newt Gingrich, Donald Trump, or Sarah Palin.
2. Never.
3. The Baha Men.

What do you think, I think that you think?

That I'm unimpressed by this question. And you're right!

Kit Kat Bars or Butterfingers?

Butterfingers stick in the teeth too much, so Kit Kats.

Here's a question; team Edward or team Jacob? LOLOL

Nah. I'll give you a real one. If you had to lose all but one of your senses, which one would you keep and why?

A. Team Bella Dies During Chidbirth.
B. Sound, because I could still hear music and peoples' voices and I could respond since taste is a sense, not speech. I'd miss the hell out of colors, tastes, and smells though.

Can I have a thread like this?

The question - What is time?

Answer - Ask Stephen Hawking or read his most excellent book, A Brief History of Time.

The question - What would I do if I was immortal ( short version )

Answer - Well, if I was immortal and there are no consequences. I've got a heck of a lot of time to kill, not the other way around. I'm going to find a way to put blackhole/singularity theory to the test.......If I can't be killed, a blackhole can't kill me. Let's see what's going on inside the event horizon shall we. It would be one hell of a ride for the record books, and you could put me right next to Chuck Yeager. I always thought he was better than Neil Armstrong anyway:skidude:.

How come you cannot see Francium?

Less than thirty grams of francium exists on Earth at any given time. Unless you have access to millions of dollars worth of lab equipment, I doubt viewing it will happen.

Favorite video game?
Favorite Sport?
What was the greatest day of your life?
What was the worst day of your life?
If you got to get drunk and party with any historical figure for the entire weekend, who would it be?

1. Right now it's FFIX, purely for nostalgic reasons.
2. That's a hard question. After careful consideration, I'm going to say my wedding, because it really was that good and that fun.
3. On a personal level, I really have no idea.
4. Teddy Roosevelt. I can't conceive what being on a bender with him would be like. I'd love to find out.

It's logically unprovable.
