Pretty much as what the title says :P. I personally haven't experienced anything (not yet at least o.o), but I'd LOVE to hear other peoples stories. C:

If not, would you like to see a ghost or any of that paranormal stuff?

Every paranormal experience I've ever encountered, was ultimately explained away after the fact, thereby removing the moniker, paranormal.

I've always wanted to believe in ghosts and such, but reality keeps dictating otherwise.

ugh...here goes my long arsh post......

First experience at age 4 during a light storm in the ghetto of Sacramento, California. The lights had gone out and I was sitting with my sister's husband's mom when we noticed a woman at the end of the hallway who disappeared into a closed room with out opening the door. After the woman was described my other sister said it could of been the girl down the street who owed my sister 200 dollars who had gotten killed in her home due to a drug related issue

Second experience when i was 6 and we first moved to Fort Bliss (In El Paso, Texas)
I was laying in bed trying to sleep, my bedroom door was wide open and a dark figure walked around the corner, stopped, looked into my room before disappearing into the bathroom. I jumped up thinking it was my dad just getting home but when i opened the door there was nothing. I laid back down and went to sleep a few days later my toy 'sleep and snore ernie' started to 'malfunction' as my mom said and it would talk and snore and such late at night even when i removed the batteries. On 3 occasions i threw that satanic toy away and each time it came back. When i asked why they gave it back everyone said they didn't. That night as i was trying to sleep some one or something was breathing heavily down my neck, i'd pull the covers up and it'd continue. I could feel it....hear it.....it scared me half to death...because of this incidents i've grown to sleep with the door shut, and music on.... :< and not to mention i'm still scared of the dark...

One of the more recent things that has happened is a few months my sister had me confront the spirits who follow her boyfriend around. He is a paramedic so sometimes it does happen. Later that night was laying in bed texting, the light on and everything when the light turned off, I assumed the light burned out and i went to sleep, in the morning i was sitting up in bed watching the door way. The light was on and everything and right next to the door way is the light switch, i literally watched the switch flick off. From then on for a month or two after the light would go on and off and sometimes piss me off....

Another time when i wasn't home i left my music on in my room on my lap top, my sister said the music had stopped when they passed my room and when my brother in law asked where i was the music blared for a few seconds before the volume lowered its self.

After confronting those spirits i was for the most part pestered and bothered by them till my brother in law and sister asked them to stop D:

I can't say I have. I would love the idea of paranormal ghosts and whatnot to be true, but until there is evidence, I'll blame the usual suspects - candy and survival horror movies/games before bed time. I'll never learn!

Trust me your not the only one.
I HATE sleeping (unless I just so happen to just be really tired and not think about it) without some sort of light, that's why I sleep with the t.v on. ^^'

In the super old house I lived in for like seven years, every night it sounded like someone was in the bathroom. I would hear faucets being turned on, toilets flushing, footsteps, like someone was actually in there. And no one ever was. .__. It actually got really annoying because it went on almost all night, I'd hear the toilet flush and run into the bathroom, only to find no one there and no one leaving.
If it was a ghost, then what the hell man. Eventually I just learned to ignore it. It never happened when my friends were over too. xD

I used to talk to ghosts when I was a kid - I think now it was mostly my imagination, but apparently this sort of thing runs in the family, so... I still hear and see things a lot, but nothing really concrete, so half the time I'm not convinced it's not my (Highly overactive) imagination playing tricks on me.

*laughs creepily* I have many, many of these. Prepare for a TL;DR.

So my grandmother lived in a small house in Arizona... can't remember the name of the town at the moment (starts with an S...). But its small, about an hour from Pheonix, and its pretty much a ghost town. Their downtown has LONG been shut down. This is mostly because of a Walmart that moved in, drove every single business out of business... yeah. Not pretty.

Anyways, back when my grandma was a kid, it was all the rage. It was an upbeat town, though still super small. My grandmother's house was where the old street used to be, before they moved it a few meters to the left. So there was an entire street of houses there, the road now moved.

Well, my grandma, when she was little, was laying in bed one night. Her room was on the top floor, and she had her own bed (she was one of the wealthier families). One night, she could hear a carriage in the distance. It got louder. And louder. She pulled the blanket over her head. She could hear it drive right by her bedside, then fade out in the distance.

You could attribute that to a tired little girl.

Except.

Years later, she lived in that house with her two oldest daughters (she'd end up moving away a year or two before my mom was born, who was the third oldest). Linda, my aunt, had her bedroom in my grandma's old bedroom.

She told us the same story.

It was rather... scary. We were talking about the house at Thanksgiving this year, and my Aunt told us that story. Then my grandma perked up and said the same thing happened to her (and i remember her telling me that story years ago). My aunt and grandma were staring at each other in disbelief.

Thats not the only weird thing about that house. They were tearing it down back when i was a baby. Theres some picture out there of me as a baby in front of it before they tore it down. When my mom was watching them, about to tear it down, the neighbor runs out. She says "Don't forget the piano!" and my mom is like "...what piano?" and she's like "You know, the piano on the top floor. I hear it playing every night. Be a shame if it crumbled with the house." My mom was like "...oh. Of course." And then the neighbor went back to her room.

As long as my grandmother lived there, there was never a piano in the house.

Since then, the house is torn down. Where it was is a vacant lot, bits of the house still in the bushes that have since grown there. When my Great Uncle Tommy died, we went to visit the lot (as his funeral was in that town). We ended up finding things in the bushes... i think my mom found some stuff in there that she kept, like a cross and other sorts of things.

But still. Pretty cool stories my family tells, regardless of if they're true or not c:

EDIT: My mom just told me, her house was right where the old Coach Station was. Fancy that

Well.

The other day--and I SWEAR this is relevant--my boyfriend was making fun of my John Denver cosplay. He thinks John Denver was pretty lame. He just doesn't understand that JD and I go way the fuck back (http://www.recordsale.org/cdpix/j/john_denver-spirit.jpg).
How can you road-trip without "Country Roads?"

Anyway.

That night, he had to go to sleep early for work the next day, went into the bedroom, shut the door, and turned out the light. I, meanwhile, was playing Pokemon Soulsilver on the couch in the living room. Well, he comes out in a fluster, like, twenty minutes later and says, "Not cool."
I was like, "Whut?" and he said, "Why'd you turn the light on while I was trying to sleep?"
"...I didn't," I said, completely truthfully.
"What do you mean you didn't?"
"I didn't. I've been here the whole time."
"Damn..." said he, "that was weird."
"Well," I said. "Just to be safe, I think you owe John Denver an apology."
He apologized to the ghost of John Denver and went to bed.

Later, he was making fun of "Calypso" (another John Denver song), which is one of my shower songs. I was like, "Ey, don't make fun of John Denver. You know what happened last time." He contributed it to a power surge, continued with the "John Denver is lame" routine, and I went to school. It was his day off, so he was in the kitchen, looking for something in the fridge. When he emerged from the fridge with whatever it was he was looking for, he turned around and saw that not one, not two, not three, but ALL of the cabinets were wide open.

This shit never happens to me, presumably because I have a healthy appreciation for seventies rock-folk-country-pop.

But yeah, rule number one of my house: Don't talk shit about John Denver. He or one of his ghostly fans might be listening.

Oh, I have a few paranormal tales to share!!

The first happened several years ago. My dad had picked us up from school and brought us home, but my mom was still at work. When we walked in the door, I heard her voice say "hello" from the back bedroom. I would have put it aside as my mind playing tricks but my dad asked if we heard it. he went to the bedroom to check and told us to stay put in case someone had broken in.

brother: is mommy home??
dad: no, nobody's here
brother: then why'd she say hello??
me: She didn't, it was just your friendly neighborhood ghost-friend (my brother liked spiderman a lot so that made him laugh and forget it.)

The second time, I was babysitting my brother and sister while our parents where out. The dog started barking so we thought someone was here. and then out of nowhere the three of us heard my mom say "Go switch the laundry please" but she's still not back yet...

me:did you guys hear that??
brother: you mean mommy telling us to do laundry even though she's not here??
me: yeah that...
...
sister: well i guess we should go do the laundry ^^

(lol our ghost always sounds like my mom:))

I've had a couple, nothing majorly scary though.

The house we live in was built on an old farm, and specifically on the orchard. Sometimes we see a distinct black shape running across the back garden. Or sometimes walking. It's not a threatening presence, and we reckon it's probably one of the old farm workers. There's also sometimes a weird feeling that I'm being followed if I have to get up and go to the bathroom at night and that makes me a bit nervous. That might just be fear of the dark, however.

Also, one time when I was on holiday with my mum we went to this old castle, and they had something called the Ghost Tower. I was thinking 'WOW COOL AWESOME!' so was really excited to go there and see what the little exhibition was about. So, I went up the stairs, opened the door, took one step inside then just turned tail and fled. I didn't stop running until I was well away from the tower, at which point I threw up. I can't explain what it was, but as soon as I stepped in that room I could just FEEL something nasty in there that didn't want me to go any further. I wasn't sick, I hadn't eaten anything bad and the feeling stopped as soon as I was away from the room.

My mum came and joined me ten minutes later giving me one of her 'wtf was that?' looks :/ Can't help it! I just knew I couldn't be in that room >< To this day I can't find a rational explanation for it.

It's weird, I get 'feelings' every so often if I'm in an old building or an old town. I always try and look for a rational explanation for them but sometimes I just can't find one. I'm not easily swayed by suggestion and I've got a logical mind so... yeah. Weird stuff happens.

My mum's told me a couple from when she was a child. She apparently lived in an old house that had some ghost problems... Every so often she would see people in mirrors that weren't there when she turned around. Her brother's toy cars would drive around by themselves even though they were not remote controlled. There would be sewing pins scattered in the hallway every morning. And, lastly, she had one of those giant plastic toy houses in the backyard... it sometimes would light up at night like it had a lamp inside when no one was outside and there was no electricity running to it.

She manages to make it sound really creepy, but I fail at that part of story telling. 8D

Yay~ I'm not alone. =)

When I was around age 14-15, I encountered a spirit (this may or may not have been my first time seeing one). This pretty much began a whole sequence of other encounters. I was on my laptop in my recreation room. My sister was there, but she left soon and went to watch tv. About 15 minutes later, I heard foot steps coming my way and I look up and see "My Sister" go to the front of the door and pick something up. As she got back up and look at me... she asks, "Do you want to play a game?" She turns around and skips off. The first thing I said back to her was, "No, not right now. What are you doing anyway?"

I waited... but no reply. I got up and walked to the living room. And found my sister sound asleep. I asked my mom, "Was she awake not too long ago?" My mom replied with, "She's been asleep the whole time. Why?" ... my heart started to race... and I just ignored the incident for a bit. Obviously that was not my sister.

At that time, My sister and I shared a bed because we were arranging furniture around the house. I went to sleep up stares and woke up in the middle of the night. "My sister" was sleeping toooo close to me. So I looked her in the eye and said... "roll over, I'm getting squished.".. and then i shoved her aside to create some space. Next morning... I went downstairs... In time to find my sister sleeping on the couch. When she woke up, I asked, "Did you go downstairs to sleep last night?" ... my sister replied, "No, I was sleeping downstairs the whole night." .... it was too much of a coincidence.

I brushed off what I saw again. A few weeks later, I came back from shopping with my family. I brought some stuff into the home first. I placed it next to the stairway - it was dark. All of a sudden I hear "my sister's" LOUD giggle from the top of the staircase. I freaked out and ran out to the garage.

After those three incidences, I told my parents my story. (definitely not the only three stories I have.)

Ever since... I was able to sense spirits. Now at age 20... I feel less of their presence. Perhaps it's a good thing. And I'm more comfortable talking about such things with my family. As I found out... this sort of experiences runs in the family.

It's weird...nothing ever happens TO ME...just to people around me. On one hand it sucks, because my stories always have to be about other people. On the other hand, it's pretty sweet, because I'm pretty sure I'd shit my pants if anything paranormal happened to me directly.

Hmmmm, I have a few. First off I would like to say that I loooooooooove scary/horror movies and was eh about ghosts.

My mom, would tell me how she was a little girl she made a banner out of glitter for her great grandma who passed. Well the night after her great grandma's funeral she saw a glowing light under the door before falling asleep, the next day her banner was on the floor and every piece of glitter fell off of it, leaving only the word grandma.

Second, was after she had me, she walked into my bedroom on two occasions finding my great grandpa (who had already passed a few years prior) sitting in our rocking chair looking at me, before vanishing.

My first encounter was when I was in Washington State. I heard that our house had one of it's owners die in it, but thought nothing of it. Over the years I kept getting spider encounters, they were huge, they would come out of the sink when I was washing my face, be in the tub when I went to shower in the morning, climb on my bed, crawl towards me if I was alone on the floor. That still didn't signal anything to me other than "F" spiders! Well our house had 3 bedrooms, 1 was small, the others much larger. I ended up staying in the small room, and that's when I started noticing movement in the attic, if I walked to the other side of the room, footsteps walked from where I was to were I was currently standing, I did it over and over and it followed. When I yelled for my mom and did it, it stopped, and it annoyed me, like something out of the movies!! So once again I heard the noises but let it go. Well less than a year, I switched rooms with my brother, and tool the bigger room, the only thing that sucked is that my parents had to walk through my room to get to there's. This room had one window, and one day I watched my family leave to do errands waving to them through the window while it was open. As soon as they drove off and as soon as they were out of site, the window unhinged and slammed my fingers into it, I tried yelling for help but no one heard. I finally had to rip them out, skinning my fingers. Back then I thought nothing of the window, and brushed it off, I didn't believe in ghosts. Well one night I'm laying in bed, my parents had already went into their room and shut the door, I was in complete darkness except for the moonlight that shined through my one open window. I was actually staring at the light when I had this feeling someone was near my bed, I roll over, and some guy was standing over my bed looking down at me. He was like about 5'9, and my parents are over 6', so there was no way in hell it was them. He just stood dead still watching me, I was f*cking freaked, I was about to yell for my parents but wondered if it would lean in on me like in the movies, so I put my blanket over my head and turned over and went to sleep. The next day, I said nothing, nothing until 5 years later, I told some friends.

Then I too moved to Arizona, I walked into my friends house for the first time, and said I feel the presence of a cat? And he said, no, we used to have a cat he died earlier this year.....creep moment, as he had no signs of a cat either I told him his apartments have an eerie feeling like people were murdered there quiet a few times, and he said yeah it hasnt had the best best, I mean they apartments looked nice too. After playing fatal frame (lol irony) I left his place, got in my car and started to pull out to a split alley, I pulled out my phone and started to call one of my other friends before getting on the road, as my head was tilted down, fingers ran up neck and into my hair, I hit the gas, dropped the phone and almost nailed the wall right in front of me. I stopped and looked around......nothing.

2005 or 6 was the last time I saw a ghost it was my childhood dog, I was up at 3am and we had just put her to sleep the day before. I was walking down the hallway getting ready for work in the dark, and she was running around my legs getting excited because I was going bye bye in the car she loved car rides. I told her to go lay down, she wasn't going this time, only to stop, and realize what just happened, and she was vanished.........that one was sad for me. =/

Blah blah blah, I could write a book. =)

Wow these are some crazy awesome stories :D The John Denver one is hilarious, and I'm the same way! Nothing ever happens to me, but...I think I'm okay with that!

My sister rents a house with some friends up in Duluth for college, and its totally haunted! Theres a lot of stories with that place, like her friend who doesnt live there saw a man in a top hat at the top of the stairs once, and started screaming like crazy!

And when her boyfriend stays, he sleeps in the living room and he'll hear her roommate come in and go up and down the stairs, only to find out in the morning that she never came home. Doesnt seem like that big a deal, but if you'd heard those stairs, you'd know theres no mistaking that noise, especially since the living room is so close!

But I think the creepiest story she has is this time when she was up late decorating her room. All her roommates were asleep, and it was just after she'd moved in, so she was putting some stuff on the walls of her bedroom, and she was listening to the radio. All of a sudden this weird country-type song came on the radio, which was weird cause it wasnt that kind of station. So she tried switching the station but it was the same song on all of them, she could even hear the static of the station being changed but underneath was the same song, even when she switched from AM to FM and vice versa. If that happened to me in the middle of the night in a house I already suspected was haunted....I would wake up every one of my roommates in an instant! XD

Perhaps. I mean, I certainly do take a good deal of convincing, but in some strange way...

Perhaps it's because I want to be a children's book author. I think belief (whether half-hearted or full-on) in things that most people believe are silly sort of comes with the job.

I'd wager an inventive imagination can rival any far-flung belief.

Incidentally, both are very similar. The main difference is, an inventive imagination acknowledges the fact that the fantasies are fantasies.

Let's see...
One night when I was 6th grade I woke up and there was small orange cat on my bed. (I didn't have a cat at the time). I looked at it for a minute, decided I was dreaming, and laid back down. Then I looked again, and it was gone.

The man who lived in our house before is died in his sleep, in what is now my moms bedroom. Every so often, when it's quiet Ill hear footsteps upstairs, like where my moms bedroom is. And I know it can't be any of my animals because they are always accounted for. Also, sometimes you hear someone cough or clear their throat up in the hallway.

I've also seen a little girl standing in the back of the kitchen. Usually after a dog starts barking back there for no reason so I go and investigate.

I've got considerable experience with the paranormal (I worked for years to develop psychic abilities, use divinatory tools regularly, seem to have a way of attracting psychic friends and various weird shit to me, and live in a very haunted city), on my end...
So here's my freakiest story, but by a long shot not my only one, which happened several years ago (around New years, 2006). Hell, I've even got a photograph.

...so, I'd gotten myself a new digital camera for Xmas. I was ecstatically delving into photography, in particular Street/Industrial photography, which involved trekking around dilapidated, abandoned and otherwise not-so-lovely places.
I was happily snapping photos in a big abandoned industrial lot near my house; at the time, it was three abandoned buildings, two of which were boarded up, one open. (Over the last three years, only the one that's unboarded is still there now, thanks to "mysterious" fires taking down the other two.)
I walked into the unboarded building, taking photos of the walls, the smashed-out window, this big hanging pulley and chain, and the like. Seemed normal enough.
THEN, I walked out and headed for the other building.
As I was taking pictures of it, I heard a rushing sort of noise, turned around, and briefly saw a huge black shadow headed towards me over the snow. It didn't seem to get all the way there, but after a moment I was filled with this feeling of utter horror and dread, that something TERRIBLE would happen if I didn't get out of there RIGHT THE FUCK NOW.
I beat a hasty retreat out of the lot and almost ran back home, not quite able to shake the feeling.
Then a few days later, I began to notice a weird change to me. I was constantly having horrendous nightmares of being stalked and attacked by some unseen threat, and sudenly found myself constantly and quickly depressed for almost no reason, in bad or angry moods, and the like. I told this to my friend, who agreed, something had to have happened with that shadow.
We also looked at the photos I'd taken inside, and found out we'd captured an image on this one; http://shinobixikyu.deviantart.com/gallery/9216238#/d1v5u53 (Right of the chain, near the corner.)

A bit of sleuthing with divinatory tools around the area and back at home, proved that I'd gotten quite a nasty malicious spirit by the name of Devante "attached" to me when I used my camera in the building. It was either the flash that ticked him off, or I'd already had some inner anguish he'd sensed and grabbed onto. Which one, we still don't know.
It took about three months (and during that period, walking around and sleeping with a protective sigil on my person so he couldn't affect me much) to get it away from me, and banished back to the building; which to ensure it wouldn't happen again, we surrounded the corner we stuck it back into with protective runes drawn all over the walls, floor and ceiling AND the building's door lintel, a further banishing/purification ritual, and a symbolic "pin" of iron through one of the old beams (in old exorcism lore, very tough ghosts would often get a stake or nail driven through the chest to hold them in place so they couldn't break free again). And to top it off, we boarded up the door again ourselves (which never lasts regardless of who does it. I think the building gets broken back into in no less than a week, every time I've gone by...)
So far so good. But I won't go NEAR that building again. Quite a few of my other friends also agreed, there's a lot of darker spirits and ghosts wandering around the area of my neighborhood. I'm starting to think there's a portal or something of the sort near or in that building.

So yeah, there's my creepiest one. I've got more, but that's huge already so maybe I'll post more later.

It IS hard to see. It's basically the shape of a face on the wall. And er, I meant near the corner of the image, not the building corner.

And okay, another. XD I also have a spirit who takes up residence in my bedroom. He's usually pretty quiet and has never done anything malicious, but when I was much younger (consistent with poltergeist activity, actually; they tend to manifest most towards girls just on the cusp of adolescence) some weird crap happened.

Frequently when sleeping, I'd get woken up by the sensation of something jumping on me or shaking me hard. Surprise surprise, nothing there when I woke up.:P Nowadays, it doesn't seem to happen anymore.
I've seen orbs and, once or twice, a shadow in my room too, and occasional noises like footsteps or creaks, that still happens.
One time, my flute shook quite violently when I'd set it down on my bed from practising. That never happened again, but did it ever creep me out. And just a while ago (as in, within the last two years, I forget precisely when now), I was practising piano/keyboard in my room, and kept constantly playing the wrong note on a piece, despite playing it over again several times. I then heard a ghostly voice repeating the note name to me until I hit it, as well as an orb appearing by my keyboard. That also scared me nicely. And made me play better because I knew someone was listening now... XD
My curtains have also moved by themselves, my TV turned itself on a few times (and it's an OLD tv, from 1986, it has that pull-out dial to turn it on.:P)
My cat (who died in May, at nearly 18) also frequently acted like he was seeing something, himself. He'd stare intently at seemingly nothing or track something I couldn't see with my own eyes, and sometimes just bolt out of the room for no reason.
And lastly, when I was much younger, I occasionally felt the sensation of being hugged, out of nowhere, usually if I was feeling upset in my room.

Nowadays not much happens anymore, but I'm pretty sure he's still around. I found out from some investigating with various methods that he's in my room because he died in there years back (well before we moved in; I even double-checked with the few other tenants who'd been here in the year he said he died, and they remembered well-enough someone of his description O.o). He was also born in Germany, played piano himself and liked hearing me play, and had died fairly young, in his 20's. I also asked him if he wanted to cross over, but he said he didn't want to yet. He didn't say why, though.

Musical ghosts are the cool ones.

Whenever I get lingering... thingies, I don't get anything so much as a sense of eerie confusion, which goes away when I politely insist that it does. Again, I'm not convinced it's any more than my imagination, but I have a sneaky feeling that since there's supposedly a long line of mediums in my family that only broke two generations back from me, if there IS such a thing as supernatural powers I've got just enough of it to be aware of stuff going down but not enough to do anything about it if something like what happened to ShinobiXikyu happened to me :/

After reading all this, I got startled by the sudden text of my brother. Thats what happens to me when I'm too busy reading something and I forget that I'm by myself in the house. Ironic, the room im in is known to have a past. The previous owner of the house had her parents living with her and her mother was sick from an illness. Well one day her mother shoot herself with a gun and yeah i been told its spooky in this room.

Well so far I havent seen anything but its not scary. We bless the housed before we moved in and I been told her father is also seen outside the porch who enjoyed smoking. Sometimes I get to smell smoke around the house but like I said, Im used to it.

I also think its the same person who help us when were looking for lost things. My sister though she lost her DS lite and found it yesterday in a box along with her toys. It been missing since Nov. and we looked everywhere when we clean the house. The last time we saw it was in the couch and The box were her toys are is big and sealed. So there is no way someone could of placed it there. But im thankful for his help

I've had a few over the years.

My favourite one is a story from many years ago. We used to have a cat named Samantha when I was small. She passed away when I was about 12 or 13. Several years later, I was alone in the house with the three cats we had at the time when I heard Samantha's voice calling from my mother's bedroom. It was only the once, but I know it was her.

Another cat story is from a few years ago, before I moved out of my parents' house. My cat Sheena, a female tabby, died a few years before I moved out. I was coming down the stairs to the kitchen when I happened to turn around and look into my bedroom. There was a tabby female sitting on the floor, which was perfectly normal, as we had one (Aeva) at the time. HOWEVER, when I turned back to the living room, I found Aeva sleeping on the pedestal. Both the other cats in the house were black. So if Aeva was downstairs, who was in my room? It wasn't the only time Sheena had been around - I'd been feeling her jump on and off my bed since she died. Each cat makes a very distinctive sound when they land, and the the thuds I'd been hearing were definitely her.

Human ghosts... I only have one of those. We were meeting some friends at a local cemetery to do a tour. My mom and I were looking at graves, facing opposite directions. I saw a man walking behind a line of stones. He was dressed in black and a tall stove-pipe type hat on. I turned to my mother to ask if she saw him too, but he was gone by the time we both looked back, less than ten seconds later. There were no other cars or people in the area. He'd just vanished. That was the day our tour guide friend told me the cemetery wasn't haunted. I just laughed at her.

Nothing really creepy here. I don't really believe in ghosts :P My basement is really creepy though, my neighbor and I were hanging out in this curtained off area. Their is a bout a 6" gap in between the curtain panels and I swear to god something swung down from the ceiling looked at me and disappeared.

I'm sure it was just my imagination. :)

I get this horrid feeling i'm being watched, I'll go into my room and just feel like something is staring at me. I get this at night too, like something is watching me. It bothers me a lot..but I just try to ignore it =^^=

Everytime I slept over my grandparents' home when I was in my teen years, I could swear the floorboards creaked and I heart people walking even if everone except me was fast asleep at the time.

And I vividly remember the door opening when I slept and being watched by something in the dark... but that might have been my grandfather, he was always all sorts of wierd and disconnected.

He's dead now and the house is gone.

I have one from when I was a little girl.
I remember one night my brother and my dad got into a very severe argument and they were so close as to hurting one another if my mother hadn't chimed in and tried to break the argument. Well, here's a little history of my family first. My mother had my brother when she was in her 30s but my brother's dad's side of the family didn't want him, so my mom married my father and had me. So, my brother is actually my half-brother. We grew up with my mom's mom (so our grandmother from my mom's side) together, though, and we were relatively close to her. I couldn't remember her that well because she passed away in 97, but anyway.
So my mom took my brother and left the house that evening because my dad and brother were arguing so horrendously that they almost got into a brawl. I started crying (I was like, what? 7 or 8 at the time) and I had to sleep in my dad's room. His room is downstairs accompanied by the door to the garage and the laundry room, while my mom, brother and I sleep upstairs where the living room, kitchen and dining room are. I usually sleep with my mom, but since she left to calm my brother down that night I had to sleep in my dad's room. So I just started crying and crying until I managed to drift of into a sleepy mode. I heard footsteps upstairs (my dad's room is direction below the kitchen, I think) and it just wouldn't go away. I thought that my mom and brother had come home, so I went upstairs but the lights were out and nobody was there. I went back downstairs to my dad's room and was waiting to go to sleep again. Again, the noises were there. I'm sure the footsteps were accompanied by other things - such as noises that kitchenware (like dishes, pots, etc.) would make, but I was too afraid to go and check the second time.
In the morning, when my mom and brother came home, I asked them if they had come home last night. They told me they went to a Waffle House and stayed out all night, and JUST got back home in the morning.
What the heck, right? I told my mom I heard some noises of footsteps upstairs when I was trying to sleep the previous night, and she told me that my grandma was probably checking to see if I was okay...because she was worried.

Yeah, weirrrrrd stuff. This is the only close to paranormal experience I've ever had as far as I can remember, but I have heard of other stories that my ex best friend told me about her old home. Those were really scary.

I didn't really read this whole thread because ghosts freak me out like crazy @_@

So.....awhile ago when I was into my whole 'Narutard I <3333 Sasuke phase' I was reading Naruto on the internet quitely one afternoon alone in my lounge, and on that website the background was a plain black colour.....it reflected everything in my lounge.
As the fight scene in the forest of death got more intense I moved closely to the screen and out of no where from the left side of the screen I saw a very tall black shade kind of floating across the screen and disappearing into the manga page. I looked around behind me but no one was there, I even looked out at the opposing window but they weren't home either......That day it was the middle of summer and the room was quite cold.

After that I'm extremely paranoid and shit scared about ghosts >o<

Now that I think about it it could of had something to do with Orochimaru.....or I'm just hoping....;;_;;

I have many that have happened to me, but I got to hear about my most interesting ancestor, Aliye, so I'll tell you about her.

Well, Aliye was my great great grandmother, and she was born and raised in Macedonia. Shortly after getting married, they had to move to Turkey because of a war. Aliye used to dream about a statue almost every night, and when they arrived in Balikesir in Turkey, she saw the statue she had been dreaming about, and it was the first time Aliye was in Turkey.

Aliye also was an expert in the medical areas. She had no school education whatsoever, yet she made her own medicine and sold it. People even claimed that it worked.

One day her cat, Mise, had killed a ferret baby, and Aliye was sitting inside. The ferret's mother came back for revenge, and started tearing apart stuff in Aliye's house. Aliye started talking to the ferret, and apologized for the loss and what Mise had done. The ferret left and never came back.

Another time, Aliye and her husband who's name escapes me, went to the grave of some Turkish saint (or something suchlike), where people go and make wishes and pray. Aliye looked inside, and saw two men sitting on thrones with a wall containing gold letters behind them, and a water pipe between them. On the way home, Aliye started talking about how nice the men seemed to look, and her husband was shocked, because that's not what he had seen. They went back the next day, and all Aliye saw was two graves where the men had been.

Scared yet? I think it's rather cool :)

From the beginning I was raised in a house blessed with one or two guardian spirits. One that we could only hear from the kitchen. It meowed sometimes and sounded like it came from the basement but there isn't an entry.

The other was like a cloud of grainy purple darkness that either touched everyone's shoulders when they were asleep or just slept in my bed. Some nights were more active than others but I was the only one in the house that was completely receptive to whatever it was. My mom and grandparents hated that house and we moved when I was 7 years old, probably because of it. Still, I never actually felt any presence around me. It was something that was just sort of...There.

Two of my friends have stories to tell about spirits but none of it interests me. I don't get the big deal about it either. I know a few people that say they can feel spiritual activity and when I knew them they would sometimes try to string me along like a witness or something but it all disappears the moment I'm near. Don't know what to make of it and don't really care either. :/

I live up the street from the high school I graduated from and there are these woods that people go in to skip class. Why they go in there, I have no clue. Well, about 3 years ago, I was coming home one night and I was looking out the window and all of a sudden, I saw this glowing, white figure walking along the woods walking with what seemed to be a dog (was also glowing white). Of course me being terrified, I screamed very loud. :x

Once, I went to a notoriously-haunted hotel with my boyfriend, our cosplay photographer friend, and another mutual friend. We rented two rooms, one supposedly haunted, the other supposedly not. Brandon (the non-cosplay-related friend) and I decided we were chickens and we were going to sleep in the non-haunted room. Then Jack and my boyfriend chickened out and wanted to sleep in the room with us.

We all crammed ourselves into one full-size bed. All four of us. A Victorian full-size bed.
It was ridiculous. We didn't sleep a wink, and nothing paranormal happened whatsoever. (Not to mention we paid for a room none of us had the balls to sleep in.)

Nothing ghostly here but I do have a family legend.

My great grandmother supposedly had a book she wrote stuff in, and the stuff she wrote would happen to the person she wrote about.

Now after her death nobody could find the book in the family, it had disappeared.

The funny thing is my mom believes that she can wish bad stuff to people and that bad stuff is then going to happen to them.

Until a few years ago I didn't know any of that, but one day I came back at school and mentioned to my mom that I was kind of feeling uneasy, because I had thought in my head about how I hoped something would happen to a teacher, so he didn't get to school. And he didn't get to school. He had a car accident and was in hospital.

I had noticed before that if I willed stuff to happen it did often happen. Like I once wanted to find a tooth of a shark on the beach, but my beach was at a place without sharks and my aunt was explaining that to me, I had a big tantrum, wildly began to dig in the sand randomly like crazy, and what did I find? I found a a big black tooth, bigger then even those my aunt had from her vacations(sadly I lost it trough the years).

I can't do it consciously though, if I do it with the thought of, if I think this it will happen, it won't work.

...I'm still wondering if my great grand mum had a death note...

Having a mind full of malicious thought that feels like a lucid dream isn't enough to pass ill will onto others no matter how much you tell yourself otherwise(or how often I experience the same God-like routine in my life -_-). You either have strong blessing or a strong near-future perception like I do. It's probably the later. It all starts with simple projection and it's quite powerful.

When I was about 11, my little brother and I were sitting on the floor in my room playing with stuffed animals. I had a pen sitting on my desk that was halfway across the room. Everything was peaceful until I felt something hit my back really hard and suddenly the pen was on the floor behind me. I felt really uneasy and so did my brother, so I looked over and said: "Want to go play somewhere else?" He nodded and we went downstairs. My family has a lot of encounters...mostly with demons though TT_TT

Also, I was walking downstairs in my nana's HUGE house and I saw this hunched-over blurry green figure standing by the open fridge. I ran upstairs and came back a minute later and it was gone and the fridge was closed. Spooky, yes? XD

I used to hear voices as well, doesn't happen that much these days.

Ah, one time in a hotel, when I was moving to Colorado. There was only one bed so I had to sleep with my parents, my mom woke up in the middle of the night and saw this lady standing over me, and they stared at eachother for a moment before she disappeared like mist.

Oh, and then, when we moved into the house in Colorado, my mom woke up again and saw that same person, standing over her. o.o

I saw this red-eye thing in my friend's brother's room one time. we screamed and... stood there and turned on the lights.

I've had feelings of being watched too. And umm... shadows everywhere.

One time my mom and I got an evp, saying "we did." :D

Another time, we were touring the Stanley Hotel, up in Estas Park and we saw a flashight turn on and off when asked too.

And once again in the Stanley hotel, I had something brush my hand and leg, when asked to.

I live next to a Cemetery now, so I kind of epect things to hapen, but they don't. o-o

Here's one that happened for me.

A few years back when I was in middle school, I spent the night at my friends house. This was when her bed was back against the crawl space near that connected to her brothers room. I slept next to her in a cot.

In the middle of the night I woke up when I heard a noise. At first I didn't recognize the noise but then I recognized it. The original music from Pokemon Red and Blue, that you heard when you entered the caves in the game.

I thought it was my imagination so I tried to go back to sleep but it would not stop. I woke my friend and she heard it to and checked her brother's room (which was right next door) and found his gameboy off and him fast asleep. Only he had the game, not her. She came back and told me this.

It was coming from the crawl space in her brother's room but there is no access to that space.

We both talked for a bit until we finally stopped hearing the music. It stopped after about another 10 minutes it stopped and we finally got back to bed. Even now whenever I think of Pokemon I think of that night..

No surprises there. Contrary to what those god-awful movies involving teens dabbling in the paranormal show, cemeteries AREN'T very active places. Spirits don't usually hang around their grave when they've been put to rest and had a funeral, or had some other issue in life that caused them to come back. In the latter case of coming back, it's usually around their actual sight of death or a favourite place in life. Not where their gravestone is.
Cemeteries are certainly still creepy at night, though. No doubt about that.

I've had tons of experiences but the one that scared me the most was at an old cemetery.

I grew up in a very small town in Michigan where there was never anything to do besides walk around. My friends grandma had recently passed away and she wanted to take some flowers to her. So her, a couple male friends, and I all walked down. My friend Mike and I walked a little slower so her and her boyfriend could grief alone. I took off my shoes and started walking barefoot on the grass. All of a sudden as I passed one grave I felt like someone pushed my chest and put all their weight on me. I tried shaking it off and kept walking but it wouldn't stop. It felt like they were right up against my back and had their hands on my chest, almost choking me. I yelled to my friend my who was a little ahead of me. He looked at me and ran back saying I looked pale and like I was going to faint. He took my hand and tried to walk me out of the cemetery but I felt so heavy I couldn't move. He picked me up and took me to the edge of the cemetery. The whole time feeling that presence. It didn't stop until I was about a block away.

You have to realize this was all in the middle of the woods with just a clearing for the cemetery so this wasn't a heavily populated area so their weren't really any houses near by to put that presence at. At the time I couldn't think of any other reason besides that maybe I stepped on his grave and upset him. I went home and told my mom who was the detective for the town at the time and she said in the 60's a man choked his young wife in the cemetery, chopped the body, and buried it around the cemetry.

To this day when I visit I won't go within 5 miles of that cemetery.

There's been a lot of talk about spirits being here and there; so much so that it would appear they are a factual concept now.

Now I've been out of the paranormal loop since my teens, and wanted to know; have spirits been proven?

As a child I used to see shapes floating around my house. I always asked my parents about them and pointed at them but they could never see them. Now that I've grown up I no longer see them. Either the spirits have left my house or once you become an adult it's much harder to see the spirits you once could see as a child.

Did you see things like that primarily at night?

I ask because it sounds like hypnagogic hallucinations, which are often associated with many types of sleep disorders.

I have a few.

I can vaugely remember something from when i was a baby (maybe like 3 or 4.. still a baby.. ANYWAYS) I use to sleep with my parents, probably because i was scared. Well, one morning i was in the process of waking up (you know open your eyes, its too bright so you close them.. or you want to sleep some more) and i see the closet door open and two demon-like creatures walking towards me with a pillow case. At first i closed my eyes then i opened them and sat up. They weren't there anymore but the closet door was swinging, as if someone had ran through it.

another time when i was around the age of 6 i was alone in my house. (I use to hear a woman calling my name and i would here the bathroom door open and slam shut ever night) well, on this day i was alone (my mother had ran across the street to talk to our neighbor, when she asked if i wanted to go i said no) I was playing with my toys and i heard someone calling my name. I looked down the hallway into my mother's room, the door was open. a old lady appeared in a chair. she was knitting. She looked at me and smiled, then i heard a dog bark. and a dog appeared out of no where and chased me out my own house.

The most recent experiences that i had... well me, my husband and his friend were playing wow and something told us to look up so we all did and a clear ball appeared at the top of the ceiling and then disappeared. at first i thought it was just me or a light problem, but it wasn't. everyone had saw. Then this weekend my husband was called into work and i was home alone with my cat and my dog. i had some candle's lit in my house and they started to flicker all crazy and my dog started barking and growling. it was weird and i got a little scared. We don't watch horror movies in this house because last time we did one of the glass candles busted (from sitting on the counter)

And the last thing i have to say is. Don't feel bad if you are scared of the dark. i am and i'll be 22 in a couple months. i have to sleep with someone and with all my doors closed, under like 3 blankets. In the dark i always see a dark figure (like a man) standing in the corner and sometimes he whispers to me but i can't hear him.. its really scary.

Two weeks ago a friend of mine had committed suicide and I went to her viewing. My family is Italian and this was my first viewing so my mom told me that your supposed to touch the dead, so they don't come visit you at night. It's an Italian superstition...apparently. Anyways so I touched my friend of the shoulder while I paid my respects. That night I woke up in the middle of the night (I'm a very light sleeper) and standing at the side of my bed was my friend just staring at me. I screamed bloody murder and she vanished. I told my mom about this the next morning and she said she must have vististed me to say thank you for coming to her viewing.

It's safe to say, superstition or not that's the last time I touch the dead.

I don't really believe in anything paranormal, but I do agree that many things in life are freaky and damn-near unexplainable (though not to everybody). I have a few to tell, only because they freaked me or made me 'WTF'.

- My family and I were all sitting in the lounge room watching television. One of my sisters and myself had our hair sharply and roughly yanked from behind. We were sitting separate to each other and away from everyone else. :/

- I saw a person (though I couldn't make out any details) standing outside my door, and then sprint when they noticed me watching. Person was also short. Turns out younger sisters were all in bed, and Mum was too interested in her 'Blade Trilogy' movie to bother doing anything (plus she was too tall). Damn imagination.

- Went driving near some mountainous bushland with my Poppa and saw some dog race across the road in front of us a small distance away. The dog was unusually lanky and very red in colour (as though the damn thing had been skinned). I have never seen anything like that before. :( Wild dog still confused the hell out of us.

- Woke up one morning with long (and scabbing) scratches all over my neck. Blood on pillow too, feeling very sore. Damn, I should sleep while restrained. :(

That is it, for now.

Ahahaha, I love the paranormal. (Seriously, I have recorded episodes of Ghost Adventures on satellite and I follow the GAC on twitter.) BUT ANYWAY, I have some stories~.

Granted they're not really mine, but earlier when my mom and dad were living in our current house with the twins, my mom had said that the twins were talking to spirits in the TV, and the TV would be turned off....

There's also this little story that my Aunt Toni and Uncle Tim's house is haunted by a man named Mr. Starr, and that he occasionally did something like move a magazine from the living room to the hallway closest to their bedroom and kitchen areas. The recent story from this is that when my aunt was repainting her kids' old rooms (they've all graduated from high school and are in/out of college), and my cousin Keri-Jo, the aunt's daughter, had come down to visit. She walked into her room, and said that she had felt really weird, almost as if Mr. Starr had been bothering her, and I guess for the rest of her visit he kept bothering her or something. (I'm not sure what; when my grandmother told it to me, I was busy eating.)

There's also been times where my cousin has said that she's seen a ghost walking in the hallway of my grandmother's house. (But frankly, I'm to the point where I think she's full of it or was trying to scare me.)

I also wouldn't be surprised if my other grandmother's house is haunted by my grandfather. He died a little under 6 years ago in their home, and I've always wondered if he still walks around at night watching over Granny as she sleeps.

True. Those movies involving teens dabbling make me paranoid though. I personally wouldn't want to spend all my time walking around in a cemetary, I'd like to go visit/scare my friends or something. :3

Cemeteries are very creepy at night. My window looks out to the cemetery, so I could watch it all night. Although the people that walk by are a lot more weird. long black cloaks and bags, giant wrapped-up things on their back. Very interesting to watch, But that's off-topic.

Eh, I think I was only creeped out at night in cemeteries by the dark/shadows being cast everywhere, so it was really hard to see where I was going. The two times I walked/ran through a cemetery at night, I was freaking out that I'd trip on my face over a tombstone or fall into an open grave. Spirit-wise, not really scared.

(and yeah, I fear for anyone who thinks buying a ouija board and playing with it means you can suddenly communicate with the paranormal. Not doing your proper research on protection and channeling beforehand is a great way to land yourself in some awful trouble. Contrary to what parker Bros. says, ouija boards are NOT "fun toys".)

I'm fairly skeptic and ouija boards scare the crap out of me. If you COULD communicate with the paranormal, why would you do it with something like that? I've heard nothing but bad things about them, especially from people who didn't know what they were doing.

I'm fairly empathic, but really skeptic, so I'm undecided on whether or not to believe or disbelieve. I guess I just have an open mind about it. When my best friend and I started practicing our empathic senses together, I started to notice very strange things. Sometimes I would just get cold chills or get a sense that someone was watching me or walking beside me. It may be my imagination, but it might not. But sometimes when I'm alone, if I'm not careful and I don't stay focused on MY own mental health, I'll suddenly pick up on others' feelings even though no one is near. That's when I usually visualize a mental barrier around myself and it all goes away. Again, maybe it's my imagination, maybe it's not.

My dad was standing in our kitchen one day many years ago when he went down there to get something to drink in the middle of the night. Our cat was lounging in the kitchen with him when suddenly he felt a gust of wind against his skin and the cat acted like something was there. My dad said he got a weird feeling and rushed back to bed.

My aunt's house definitely feels haunted--but not by a scary ghost or anything like that. She got the house when she was unmarried a long time ago from a woman who later died and she lived there by herself. (That woman apparently was very attached to her house.) The typical weird things would happen in the house that didn't necessarily have explanations for them, but the weirdest was when she had a party and she and her group of friends all watched a lit candle move across a counter as if someone was gently pushing it.

That "ghost" also scared away my aunt's boyfriends. It also kept screwing with my other aunt's jerkoff husband at the time. (It never messed with my dad, though.) The doorbell would go off when it was disconnected and it didn't stop until my uncle ended up leaving. The weird things only stopped when she married my current uncle, a really wonderful guy. My aunt thinks it was the ghost scaring away men who didn't deserve my aunt.

Oh, and the piano in that house would suddenly play when my aunt was alone in the house. I think that's really freaky, but my aunt loved it and said it soothed her. Apparently the lady who owned the house was a wonderful woman who loved to play piano. I also fell down the stairs in that house when I was little and I could have seriously hurt myself, but before I hit the ground it felt like something had caught me and guided me to my feet.

My mom also firmly believes in spirits and guardian angels and insists that I must have a hardworking angel watching over me because I've had three near death experiences in my life already and the only reason I didn't die in any of them is thanks to what looks like pure luck.

Recently, my friend was house-sitting for her brother. One of his cats had recently passed away. I always liked that cat.

Anyways, we were using his massive TV for an anime marathon, and it was getting late, so I got comfortable and fell asleep on the couch. About 30 minutes later, I felt this sudden pressure on my side, like someone had pushed down on it. I thought maybe his other cat had jumped on me, but nope, there was nothing.

The next morning, I mentioned it to my friend. Who then informed me that I had been sleeping where the recently deceased cat had liked to sleep. "Maybe he was saying goodbye" she said.

I have another but not really..IDK what you would call it.

Anyways during one summer I was a nanny for this couple. The kids were terribly spoiled (2 and 3, flat screen tvs, xbox 360 when it first came out etc).

Anyways, I spent the nights there and I stayed there.

The husband got into a motorcycle accident and had a brain injury. He was/is a very stubborn man and was told to stay in the house and not to drive or go outside by himself etc.

One day I was sitting at my computer and he sat on another couch. He looked at me and said "Cut that out"

Confused I asked him what I was doing and he shook his head and he merely said "No not you, I'm talking about the ghost looking over your shoulder at your computer"

I was 15/16 (i can't recall the correct summer). Anyways when he told me that and I stiffened. A ghost? Right. Next. To. Me? Now that scared the hell out of me but I acted like it was nothing. For the rest of the summer he kept talking to the 'ghosts' in the house.I don't know if they were really there because he did have a near death experience and a brain injury but it did scare me :/

When I was little I lived in a big old spooky house that used to be the parsonage of the church next door. We were able to rent it for really cheap though.
I was six years old, and for my birthday, I got two of the three cats I have today. They were both really obnoxiously energetic, and they used to weave back and forth in between the railing on the second story landing (there was the hallway on one side of the banister and a small ledge on the other), scaring the heck out of me. One day, the more obnoxious of the two cats, Tobias, was doing this, seemingly enjoying that he was making me so upset when suddenly he fell from the second story landing. Only he didn't just fall, it seemed like something had pushed him. Miraculously, he wasn't hurt at all, just very shaken.
After that day, both cats stopped weaving in and out of the railings.
About a week later I woke up in the middle of the night to get some water and I saw a cat that looked like Tobias weaving in and out of the railings again. I got very upset and went to pick him up, and scold him for doing that again. Only, when I went to pick up the cat, my hands went right through him, and I realized it wasn't Tobias.
We moved out of the house not long after that, so I didn't get a chance to see the ghost cat again, but I have always had a feeling he's the one who pushed Tobias off the ledge. I don't know why though, and I guess I never will.

I've never had any experiences of my own. Ever. And to be honest, I'm not sure I want any, if they could happen. I do enjoy watching the stuff people have to say about it on TV, and I love watching documentaries about famous cases and whatnot, but to be perfectly honest, I'm more afraid of myself than the paranormal. I'm afraid that, if something did happen that I couldn't explain away with logic and experience, and that no one else could either, that it would completely terrify me, and I'd never be able to enjoy those kinds of shows and stories again. xD

I'm already chicken about enough other things. I don't need the boogeyman and casper to add to it. xD

My Parents house - I was sleeping in my brothers room, i woke up around 2:15am and looked in the corner of the room and there was a Solid Black Figure of a Little Girl. Looked like she was praying, she lifted her head and walked to her right while still staring in my Direction. I Turned on my PhoneLight and she was Gone. Since then i have seen her once more in the same Corner.

Also my brother said he saw her, 3 weeks before i saw her the first time. (kinda Creepy)

Also in my Parents House - I was in The Game Room in back of the house playing Ps3 when i heard someone walking down the Hallway Talking then a Door SLAM- i got off the game and looked down the hall way not seeing anyone (none of the Doors were Closed) let alone (I was the only person home)

My Parents built this home so we are the ONLY one's that have lived in it. there is a (Indian Reserve) In the Hills Behind us. Temecula is know to be Home of Indian Ancestors of many different type of Tribes. So maybe we are on a OLD Burial Ground? (never know)

I do believe there are Spirits and such roaming the Earth but not in a way like some movies Describe them.

Not sure if this ones exactly 'paranormal' but ill say it anyway.
Sometime last year when i wa 15 or 16 I had started to loose my faith (im a christian) because everything was going wrong and it felt like nobody was there anymore to help me, not even God. Well, that same night, I woke up at the stroke of midnight (dunno why thats got anything to do with it :3) and i felt a weight on my shoulder a lot like a hand. I quickly rolled over and there was a figure of a man blinding white, but i couldnt see his face. As soon as the weight was lifted from my shoulder, he dissapeared.
I know it sounds ridiculous, but my belief is that that was God's messenger, letting me know he was there for me and hadn't ever forgotton about me. Since then, my faith has improved, and I still hold it stronger than most people I know. My own brother tells me God doesnt exist and im wasting my time with him, but i ignore him. Ive never told anyone about this before. Ill just let you guys know im not trying to turn anyone christian or anything like that, all my friends have different religions and i still love them all, this was just an amazing experience for me. :P

I've never had anything that I can peg as a deffinate experience.. My house was built right before we moved in so My mom and I have been the only people to ever live in it.
The closet doors in my house constantly break, and I used to have them half open all the time (before i just ripped them out) so I wouldent break them. If I ever left my bedroom door open and the closet door was open i'd hear footsteps and dark human-shaped figured walking from my open door to the closet and back. It used to freak me out soo badly as a kid ( i was about 6-8) and eventualy i just learned to have my bed pressed against the wall and sleep faced toward it.
The only thing recently is that I hear noises in the kitchen that dont really have a reasonable explaination other than the house settling. I also have a giant tank on a desk about a foot away from the head of my bed with my pet bearded dragon, Doragon (who I call dory) He's fat and lazy and hardly ever moves out of either the top left or bottom left corners of the tank. Sometimes at night when im half awake i hear his claws scraping against the glass of the tank. But the noises are coming from the right side of the tank, and i'll hear feet running across the sand and over the little log that he has in there. I'll say somthing like "go to sleep dory" and it'll usualy stop for a while.. But when I wake up or glance at him in the dark he hasent moved. Also his water bowl thats on the right side of his tank will randomly fill up with sand about every other day o3o"

My mom told me this story of when I was young about 7 or 8 yrs old. They went to visit my great-grandfather at the hospital which was 1 hr away. So I stayed home with my brother and our aunt to look after us. When they got home, I ran out of my room and hugged my mom and kept said that g-grandfather was there and he hugged me and tried to kiss me but I did not let him because his mustache always poke my cheeks and they hurt. My mom and dad looked at each other puzzled by this because they just visited him at the hospital. A few minutes later someone called and it was our relative saying that right after they left he passed away.

Another one was during grade school, I used to attend an all girl's school that is partially a convent. There was a hallway were it's dark and have mostly shelves holding all the trophies and stuff from sports. There was rumor going around that that area was haunted. It was the fastest way so a friend of mine and I passed by there one time after school to get to the other side of the building and we saw two nuns pass by. We said our greetings and they just nodded. After passing them, we just realized that they were wearing those old style veils like wings sticking out on the sides so we turned around but saw no one behind us. We got freaked out and ran.

I just saw this thread, and it sparked my interest. I have had paranormal experiences all my life. I heard voices speaking from the time I can remember, see and feel things that I'm sure aren't there, the usual.

One of my first memories is from a time I was really too young to even remember anything at all. I was at an exhibit of Ancient Egyptian artifacts and was maybe 3 or 4, so I don't recall anything from that time period. All I recall is that I was looking at something and then, that faded away and I saw ancient Egyptian life happening in front of me, sort of like I might have been seeing a past life or something. I don't know how to explain it.

In the house I live in now (I'm almost 28 and have lived here for 13 years) I've had many strange things happen. We are the first people to live in this house, so it's not the house itself that is haunted. Maybe the land. On several occasions, I've heard someone humming a song when no TV is on or radio. The first time, I thought it was my mom since I was at the computer and she was sitting in the den. But then I turned down my music and heard it more; then I turned it off completely and realized my mom had fallen asleep in the chair. I continued to hear the humming the rest of the night.

Then there was the time I was in bed and looked over at my window and saw a headless torso...no legs, arms...nothing. It was just in shadow. I told my brothers about it, and they said they would have run. I just rolled over, turned my back to it, and went back to sleep.

I've heard my name called through the house multiple times, sometimes I'm sure it's my grandmother's spirit, other times I know it's not.

My dad has seen both of his parents that have been dead for many years around here, and regularly sees my grandmother. He also sees a spirit in the master bathroom, hears a baby crying in our pasture, and sees ghosts standing in the pasture too.

My youngest brother has had many encounters with shadow people in the house as well. We are a fairly sensitive family it seems.

Most people say it's nothing, but I've had too many experiences in life to say it's all able to be explained away.

Mehdia - sounds intriguing - I've had friends who have had similar experiences for years as well.

Also, I do need to thoroughly read through this topic.

Nonetheless, I used to do graveyard hopping quite a bit a few years ago. There's always those places where I hear whispers or where friends who go along will see odd figures. I live in South Carolina - allegedly one of the more haunted places in America. There's one particular place that is very haunted but I would not recommend going at night because you'll get arrested, no questions asked. But back in the day a lot of people used to go out there because the grounds are VERY haunted. Many trusted friends of mine have seen ghosts there - one of them is a tall, shadowy, menacing man-like figure - tallll. Another is the spirit of a young boy, and a third is the apparition of a woman in a civil war era dress who, when she does appear, seems to wander around the perimeter of the graveyard.

Another is the spirit of a young boy, and a third is the apparition of a woman in a civil war era dress who, when she does appear, seems to wander around the perimeter of the graveyard.

My brothers, some friends, and I occasionally do the graveyard hopping thing. I live in Memphis, TN, and we have some pretty haunted cemeteries, not to mention being an extremely haunted city. But the shadowy man you described sounds like one of the several types of Shadow People. My brother has seen that one, the one that looks like a small child, and the one that is crouched down and running. He actually in a way had a physical altercation with that last one. He thought it was a friend of ours hiding behind a large chair in our living room when the lights were out, ready to scare him. So when the shadow ran from behind the chair to the next one across the room, my brother's natural reaction to having been scared was to defend himself by punching it, except his hand went straight through it. He was freaked out. But the only form of Shadow Person he hasn't seen is the one that's supposed to be human shaped, but with a pumpkin shaped head. I don't think I want to see something like that...

I myself really just don't know what to believe. I've never had an encounter or anything like that. I live next to a grave yard, so you'd think i'd see more of that kind of stuff.

My friend says she lives next door to a haunted house- it's empty and it's meant to be haunted. I beg to differ. until she tells me a story where some weird shit happens, i wont believe it >< you can't just say something's haunted and not say why xD

I chose not to believe in it, because while i believe in some things having a 'prescence' around where they have had ties to in their life, i don't believe in the entire ghosts and haunting stuff.

then other people i know have given me the whole 'we saw a spirit like figure, took a photo of it, but the photo just turned out as a white glare' story too.

I mean the freakiest things that happen at my place are the possums makign laughing sounds at us.
When i was in year 4 i thought there was something strange going on because every night for a few weeks at exactly 4 AM, I would hear a strange laughing sounds and odd breathign noises growing louder and louder. It stopped when i literally cried out 'GO AWAY.' because i was so frightened. thats the only part i find weird-- the fact that it didnt stop til i said so. =_= i'm sure it was a possum. nothing else. a possum that understands english, and has an incredible sense of time, i mean :P

but with all the stories i hear it sorta irks me a bit :'D

I believe in the paranormal. Not in a tinfoil hat wearing kind of way, but I do think there is more to the world than just what we can see. I have been very susceptible to that kind of stuff pretty much my entire life.

One of my most interesting ghost stories is actually one my mom told me. I was born in London, Ontario, and after roughly a year my parents moved to Victoria, BC because they hated Ontario and wanted to be closer to their families on the west coast and in Alberta.

Anyway, when we first moved we didn't have a house yet so we were staying with friends of my parents who lived in this cool house that used to be part of a castle. Well, my mom had just put me to sleep in my crib upstairs, and had gone downstairs into the living room to relax or whatever. After a few minutes she thought she heard footsteps upstairs, but being an old house she figured it was nothing, especially because she knew she was the only one in the house. But then she heard footsteps coming from my room over the baby monitor, so she got freaked and bolted upstairs. When she opened the door to my room, she saw a woman dressed in white leaning over my crib, but it was in a non-malicious way, like she was just checking on me. The woman seemed to vanish instantly, so my mom only saw her for a spit second, but she said the image was seared into her mind.

She's not really a big believer in ghosts, but she's CONVINCED that she saw one that day. She thinks it might of been the spirit of a nursemaid who had looked after the children of the family who had lived in the castle.

So yeah. I think that's a pretty rad story. I didn't hear it until I was about 18 or so, and it kind of didn't surprise me, considering I've had lots of strange little encounters that I can't explain.

I had pretty much no experiences growing up, non till my grandmother died and when we moved to an old house (my current home.) There are crazy amounts of things happening in this home, some actually quite unnerving and very unexplainable. We live next to an out of place huge home that looks so wrong, and a morgue.. doesn't connect to our haunting, but doesn't help.

My last home was new, we built it, so no one haunted it as far as I know. It was only till a day before my grandmothers death when I was 14 was when I saw full bodied man walk into her bedroom. He was young, and dressed nicely. Oddly enough, it didn't scare the hell out of me, it almost felt like a dream.. in that calming sense, which is strange till I talked to my mother about it after she died. I described what he looked like the best I could and she showed me a picture of my great grandfather when he was young. Needless to say, it looked just like what I saw. I'm not a religious person even in the slightest, so it was interesting. Although it didn't really scare me, I couldn't sleep in my room (which was next to hers) for a long while after, was on the couch for some time. I think it was just grief and mourning I couldn't handle then.

Something screwy happened outside the new house which made me sh*t bricks. I walked at night in country all the time, up and down the dirt roads for years, and it never happened again (not that I did it as much afterwards.) I was with my first bf, just strolling along and suddenly we hear a very disturbing growl (or glutenous slimy chewing).. now my instant thought would be 'animal', but it didn't sound like any animal I've ever heard. Though, it wasn't the noise itself that scared us, it was how we heard it. It sounded like it was right next to our ears, not behind or in a bush, it sounded so close that your ears had to adjust to the noise to hear it properly. I took one look at my bf and he pulled my arm and bolted back to his car with me, I don't think I've ever seen him scared by anything, some 6'1 born and bred Irish brute running like we were on fire. If it didn't scare me that would have been funny.

Just a random time that creeped me out a lot and sorta mentally scarred me just a bit.

My cat who had been dead for about 4-5 years i think at the time... his head was in our garden above where it had been burried. not the rest of the body... just the head. now you'd think 'Animal digs up cat, that must be it' but there were no signs of digging or anything... nothing.... just a dead, decaying cat's head :| (the scarring part was seeing little Ajax (or was it Sparticus?? ;-; ) with no eyes or fur.... or body 0-o.... yeah... i'm not good with dead things >< haha)

i'm not suggesting ghost, or paranormal stuff, cause as i said, im not a real big believer in it. i'm just saying it was odd. I still dont have a clue how that happened.

rereading this is sounds kinda stupid. ....nyeh~

I've had paranormal experiences in the past. They turned out a little spooky.

I believed that my parents house was haunted by our dog shortly after he passed away. He was a Siberian Husky and never barked, only yulped. A week after he died, I was alone in the house and was in the kitchen and swore I heard his yulp as if he was sitting right beside me. Maybe it was his spirit just saying goodbye.

Not sure if this counts as paranormal, but I'd had 2 predictions pop into my head by some unknown source/voice, both I believe came true. The first prediction came in 2004 and in my head, it showed me the country of Morocco and a bullseye symbol in the northern region of the country just off the coast. 2 days later, a powerful earthquake hit Morocco and the epicenter was exactly where my prediction said it would be. Then the second prediction, 2004 again, came to me with the message "The next great terrorist attack that will shock and terrify the world will come by rail." Then the Madrid train bombings happened a month later.

When it comes to spiritual warfare, I believe I have a target/bounty on my back. *gasp*

I was walking home one evening minding my own business listening to some tunes on my Ipod. Then that's when something disturbing happens. A fierce wind comes out of nowhere and....

....it's hissing like a snake/serpent. Disturbing...

When I was 6, my Mother passed away from Cancer. She was allowed to come home for a few weeks before she died in her sleep in the Master bedroom.
We moved out of the house 4 years later, and a newly married couple bought it. We recently found out they only lived in the house for two weeks before renting it out. Each tenant only stayed there for no longer than a month, and the house is now abandoned (well, up for sale, but it has been for aaaaaaggggggggeeeeeeessss...).
I dont know for sure whats been going on there, or if its just coincedence, or people dont need a massive house like that one. My Mother, as I remember her, didn't seem like the type to harrass or drive people away.
Anyways... apparently people have been seeing someone, leaning on the railings, washing dishes in the kitchen, walking around the house at night, even sleeping in the place she died.

There only stories, and i can't confirm them. Heres the house btw (still up for sale)

Omg I love this thread.. I just love paranormal things in general... yeah.

I haven't had any major paranormal experiences myself, but I've had a few "smaller" ones, so I guess I'll go ahead and tell you about them.
So, we have this really old house on our lot. We don't live in it, but yeah, we built our new house at the same lot because it is big and at a nice location, however that doesn't matter, the main thing is that we have an old house which we don't usually live in, but sometimes me and my friends like to have sleepovers there if there are many of us. I think at this time there were six of us. It is a small house with only two rooms, a bathroom and a loft. We don't go up to the loft because the house is so old that the floor up there might break if there is too much weight put on it. However, during this sleepover there were several thuds from the loft. We all heard it, so it can't have been my imagination... It was kinda creepy...
Another one is when I was falling asleep in my bed, not in the old house, in the one we're living in, I started hearing breaths from behind my back (I was lying on my side) and I tried to hold my breath to check if it was my own breathing echoing in my head or something, but I kept hearing the breathing, it didn't sound human, but it didn't sound like an animal breathing either, it sounded like something in between. I started to slowly turn around to see if there was anything behind me, but when I got to the point where I'd have seen what it was the breathing stopped. That was pretty creepy too....

My best story isn't mine, It's my dads.

Now He lived in West Penn for the longest time until he joined the army. He was dating this girl who lived in a catholic dorm house and they were cleaning up some of the older rooms in the upper floors and him being him was helping.

Now He went into one of the rooms that hadn't been used for years and was going to get to work when the door slams shut. When he tried to open it it wouldn't budge and my dad is not a little guy in his prime at 6'3". Then the rattling started and the cross in the room flipped upside down. After seeing this my dad said "If you don't want me in the room fine. Just open the door and I will not bother you again."

Door opened and he got the hell out of there and never came back.

EEK. I lived in a dorm that used to be a nunnery... I found out later that the building plans showed this one meat freezer downstairs, and when you went down there... there was nothing there. No room, just wall. Like there was a big empty space behind it. There were rumors a nun was killed there before which is why it shut down. Lots of weird repostings of seeing ghosts, lights flickering and cold drafts.

The whole building gave me the heeby jeebies... especially the basement. Even before i found out about the mysterious void in the basement. I always felt like something was watching me.

Ahhh ghosts are one thing, not scary, more interesting... demonic things are :waaaah: not fun, their like invisible stalker.

I knew someone who took care of the mentally ill. One of the patients that died had so much negative energy and anger when he was alive that when he died the building was ripped apart. Things would be thrown everywhere every time they came back, they'd hear breathing that sounded so alien. It's hard enough working with mentally ill, a demonic presence caused by one isn't worth the good pay. Even my brother ex wife had the similar experience working with the same sort of people.

I have no explanation why stuff happens to me at my college dorms when they're supposed to be the newest buildings to live on campus. No history of suicides or any of that stuff. *sighs* Oh well, college edition of ghosts. Yay.

Near the end of this school year, I was sleeping in my bed when I just woke up in the middle of the night (which is normal, as I do that at least once a night usually). My vision's horrible but I can still see in the dark and big shapes of different colors are still obvious for me. Well, my Gurren Lagann wallscroll on the wall right next to the bed was swaying parallel to the wall. My window was shut and the vent for air can't bounce to such an absurd angle to push my wallscroll on the thinnest side and made it slide against the wall like that. It only lasted like four seconds tops but then I fell back asleep after watching it.

A month or two later, I was in my bathroom connected to my room. My mom was in the main room and it was either morning or the afternoon, definitely not a ghost-ish time of day. When I pushed the door to leave the bathroom, it opened just fine for almost an inch, then it wouldn't open any further. I thought my mom was messing with me and holding the door shut so I told her to stop and pushed harder but it literally wouldn't even wiggle a little when I started slamming my shoulder into the door. My mom's voice, from the other side of the room, asked me what was wrong before she came over and pulled the door open like nothing happened. It never happened again. My mom isn't so strong to be able to hold the door still that well and I tried recreating it by wedging my doorstop in. No matter what, the door gives and I can slowly open it. So...I really really didn't like that experience.

Last night was really strange... I woke up at 3 in the moning i'd say, turned over and put my head on the other pillow and i could clearly hear music though sorta muffled, as though it was from beneath the pillow. the music was very odd... it was kinda like a music box song with that clicking sound and some other instruments. As soon as i lifted my head (thinking i was just crazy and sleep deprived.), the music was gone. and when i put my head back down i could hear it again.

there was nothing beneath my pillow or my bed. my ipod was off, and i don't have any other logical reason why it was there :| just weird.

This really freaky thing used to happen in the home my family lived in before this one. It was an old house too, so that made it SO much worse.

Anyway, the way our house was upstairs was that there was a hallway and three bedrooms - one on each side and one at the end of the hall. The hall had one of those light switch dials that you had to turn in order to turn the light on, make it brighter, dim the lights, or turn the light off. I remember that when you'd turn it, whenever you reached a certain point near the middle, the dial would make this clicking noise.

On some nights when my family would be sleep, one or more of us would wake up and see the hallway light brightening and dimming on its own. The cherry on the cake was that whenever the light was neither dim nor bright, whoever was awake would hear that same clicking noise, just as if someone were turing the dial themselves...

Needless to say, I wouldn't move back into that house if you paid me. xDDD

The house we live in now has so many ghosts...the first night we lived here, my brother, sister, and I were sitting in the living room playing cards, while my parents were shopping. Suddenly, a chair moved in the dinning room, and all the lights went out. We ran to my brother's room which was a hallway down from the living room, and they sent me out to check it out. I went out into the dinging room, when suddenly I saw the figure of a woman and heard a scream. I passed out after that. I woke up on my brother's floor. (I have so many stories...)

You know, I'm reminded of one paranormal experience I thought I had at the time. And note in advance, none of this is sarcasm.

I woke up one night to see a bright light peering through my curtain. I couldnt move at all, and heard a very loud, unexplained noise, and felt my head beginning to get warmer and warmer, I swore I was being abducted by aliens. I remember getting to the point where I gave up, and thought to myself "Okay, lets see what these aliens look like, once and for all." After a few moments of this apparent horror, I managed to kick, and realized that I was having one of those moments when you were asleep, at least your body was, but you could almost open your eyes enough to see, and consciously aware of things.

The noise? It was the sound of my long hair rubbing against a mesh pillow I slept on, as my head slid slowly off of it, due to the fact that I was trying to move but my body was asleep. It also explained the heat; friction.

And the light? Take a guess. Yup, it was a streetlight.

They don't sound very happy, could just be the one spirit :( doesn't matter if you're religious, clearing out that house with some sage and positive thoughts or something might help whatever is there be more calm. I doubt anyone will get hurt, but passing out after that doesn't sound like a very calming memory.

We have one known spirit in this house, and he --we know it's a he, that's how active it was-- was only active when someone was bringing a lot of negative energy into the house. As soon as that person left for good, the house was lighter and nothing was being thrown, haven't seen any black mass, our dogs aren't freaking out, or heard any voices. A framed photo of this person was one of the things actually thrown off a shelf, it was anchored and even when we tried banging on the wall it wouldn't move again. Even a positive spirit can cause a big fuss, they're just people after all. If the people in your house aren't causing negative energy, then it could just be energy left in the house. Not schooling you or anything, just reading about something that happens in a place you live most of your life is worrying.

A few weeks ago I'm pretty sure I had a paranormal experience.

Picture this, if you dare. A night of reckless debauchery involving a variety of drinks (their colours spanning the entire visible and non visible spectrum of light), dastardly amounts of Tapas and a karaoke machine that seemed to be stuck on Sex Offender - The Soundtrack.

I soon decided, much like Ron Jeremy, you should "always leave 'em begging for more". Or maybe it was "considerably less", I forget with him. Semantics aside, I knew that another 3 hours of the entire Gary Glitter anthology would undoubtedly bring arousal to many of the women in my near vicinity, and soon these hate-filled stares and threatening knuckle-flexes would descend into a tide of sexual advances and female depravity rivalled only by Peter Sutcliffe's bi-annual visit to the East Lancashire Baptist Nunnery and Childcare Centre. I am not so cruel as to place such unnecessary stress on the owner of such a fine establishment (The Fetid, Gangrenous Scab - a favourite haunt of mine) and I left poste-haste, bidding a fond farewell to the serving wenches with a hearty buttock slap or two. These were exclusively responded to with balled-up fists to my face, which I assume is a kind of new-agey, trendy show of affection. Hipsters.

I was feeling rather sparkly and on the way home, traversing a local train underpass with all the swaying beauty and grace of a recently lobotomised Fluttershy, when a spooky spectre approached from the other end of this tunnel and demanded my wallet and phone. My first reaction, I'll admit, was scepticism. "Pish and a healthy portion of Posh" I rumbled to myself, taking advantage of this temporary halt in momentum by vomiting into my hand and then hastily deciding it would have been preferable to vomit literally anywhere else. It was at this moment, as I was wiping the last chunks of vom-cano from my palm, that I suddenly realised the authenticity of my attackers claim.

Cold dread set in. 'Holy shit, its a ghost', I thought, looking him up and down for the first time. He was wearing jeans and had gold teeth. His breath smelt like sexual abuse and the breadth of his arms spoke volumes of a history of large mammal wrestling. It was these clever forms of camouflage that had prevented my initial identification of this messenger from beyond, but I had his number now.

"Your shoes AND shirt are white." I said, triumphantly.

"Yeah you... wait, what?" I had caught him off guard. This is known to be difficult with ghosts.

"White means ghost" I said, yet more triumphantly, and extended my hand for a spectral high-five.

He stared at my outstretched palm for some time.

"Oh, right. Vomit." I chortled, having a quick sniff. It smelt like Gary Glitter songs. His confusion appeared to deepen.

"Look mate, jus' gimme the wallet and phone, yeah? Else you gon' get merked blud"

"what a funny little ghost you are!" I beamed at him, convinced we were now fast friends. "I will call you Casper!"

"no you fuckin' won't"

"No I will not" I hastily agreed. Communing with spirits is a delicate dance.

There were several more seconds of uneasy silence. He then produced what can only be described as a ghost-knife from under his ghoulish garments. It was a lot like a normal knife, only it was being held by a ghost.

Not wanting to hinder any heavenly schedules, I decided I'd best comply.

"Ah, phone, right you are sir." I said, producing my staggeringly shitty Nokia from my earthly garments. He looked like he would like to punch it for not being an iPhone.

"Is it because iPhones are white too? Y'know, like ghosts? So it, like, blends in with the ectoplasm"

"There is no part of that sentence I can begin to reply to" He explained, picking my phone up by the very corner and dropping it into a zip lock bag. "Wallet. Now."

"A little unorthadox, but who am I to judge?" I said, emptying my pockets further. "would it be OK if I took all my cards and money out of it first?"

"No"

"Oh, ok" I sighed, "I thought you might only need it for the leather. I imagine there aren't a lot of animal hides in heaven."

"Yeah, yeah bruv. Now you ain't gonna be talkin' to the 5-0 bout this anytime soon, you get me?" He growled, ghost-knife wiggling ever closer to my chest.

"Silly ghost, like they would believe me!"

"Yeah... yeah right." He began to look uncomfortable again. I took this to mean that his time on our Earth was reaching its limit.

"It has been a journey of learning, Casper, for you and I..." I felt a tear welling up. I also felt something hard hit my face very fast. the latter was not a tear. My extensive knowledge of the paranormal suggests it could only have been an ectofist. a surreal manifestation of ghostly energies directed at one focal point, namely my face.

I hit the ground, felt the familiar warmth of hobo piss on my cheek, and saw the blurred outline of my dear friend Casper retreat into the depths of the tunnel. Further and further, until I was sure he had passed from this realm, back into the glow of Valhalla.

"Goodnight, Sweet Prince..."

I've had quite a few over the course of my life, but here's two that happened back in 2001. The first was a few days before 9/11.

I was living in Toronto at the time, and was trying to figure out what to do with myself at the time, what kind of job I should be looking for, the works. So I decided to do a short form tarot reading for myself, using only the major arcana. The first card I pulled was the Tower. If anyone here is not familiar with the tarot, there are a crapload of artistic renditions of the tarot out there, but the Tower is almost always depicted as a tall structure being struck by lightning and/or in a state of collapse. A few days after 9/11 I was thinking about this again, and I remembered the picture of the WTC which had been sitting on the bed next to me when I attempted that reading. Freaky.

The other one from that time period happened the day of 9/11 itself when I had to go into downtown Toronto for a job interview. (yes, the interview was still on, despite what was going on) Afterwards, I didn't rush home. Quite the opposite- I stayed downtown, heading for King and Bay, one of my favorite spots. At one point I was in the lobby of First Canadian Place, using one of the payphones. After calling a friend and leaving him a message, I leaned up against the solid white marble wall, pressing my back against the stone. Almost immediately I felt a sensation like somebody hugging me from behind, around the lower part of my ribcage. Just like somebody wrapping their arms around me and holding on. And in my head it felt like some presence was saying "Please don't leave me!"
Now before any skeptics try to brush it off as a panic attack, know this- All the classic symptoms of a panic attack were completely absent! For one, I had no trouble breathing. And oh yes- I felt no panic either. At least not from myself. The fear I sensed was coming from somewhere/someone else. And I most certainly wasn't "out of my body" or experiencing things from a dissociated viewpoint. I was very much in my own hide, thanks.

Now I've always been an Urban Animist, ever since I was a kid, before I even knew what Animism was. And First Canadian Place was one of my favorite Toronto skyscrapers. I guess I had a special bond with that one.

kind of a long post, but...
Story #1
I once heard a disembodied voice yell "hey!" before. It was weird.
We were at a hotel (doubletree in Toronto, 5th floor). We had the 3 rooms at the end of the hall (mine, the one across from mine, and the one beside mine.). They were by the fire escape which should have been empty since we weren't allowed to use the stairs (I was there for a con and they don't let you use the stairs unless there's an emergency). I was there with a friend and my sister (talking about spirit guides and stuff). Me and my friend (both girls) heard a male voice say "hey!" that came from beside my friend (my left, her right). My sister was sitting on my right and didn't hear it. Nobody was in the other 2 rooms (we know that because one of them was joined to mine and everyone had gone to the rave. We double checked) and any other rooms should have been too far down the hall.
Not to mention that several times that evening we heard a knock on out door and nobody was there. Nomatter how fast we answered the door. (And I mean loud knocking, not taps).
Can't explain it.

Story#2
My stepmom is kinda psychic (she actually started charging for her readings early this year). We went to the Cemetery on Drummond Hill in Niagara Falls (Ontario) to see if we could catch any ghosts on film (photo, that is). Usually, cemeteries aren't haunted, but I guess this place is supposed to be really haunted because of the war of 1812. Anyways, I have seen what appears to be air before. To me, it looks somewhat more dense than normal air or something and I'm not sure if I see a colour or if I associate a colour with it. I don't really know, since I'm pretty sure I'm not psychic. Looks kinda like I starred at a light bulb for too long. (and no, I didn't stare at a light bulb. it was starting to get dark, so the lighting was kinda dim.) Now, I found myself starring at what I looks like "blue air" to me. I pointed and asked if there was something there and my stepmom nodded. I asked if I should walk over there and she said no (cus we don't want to bring anything home with us). She has no experience with helping earthbounds, so she doesn't talk to them. As for the "blue air", she said I might be seeing energy.

I remembered a couple more experiences.

1) I've seen what can only be described as a black orb before. Looked like a miniature black hole hovering about 2 or 3 inches off the floor. I walked around it and was able to view it from different angles, but when I tried to call my sister to come and see it, it faded away.

2) This is probably my worst experience so far. I was dreaming when I felt someone touch me in a place that you really don't want to be touched. I shot up like a freaken bat out of hell! (first time I ever sat up upon waking up). So I looked around and nobody was there, so I tried to go back to sleep. As soon as I started to fall asleep, I heard a child yell "mommy" (which brought me back to wide-awake) and I heard what sounded like a bear growl from beside me. The bear was comforting, since I had been told that there was a bear that looked after me night before that, but I was pretty freaked out. I'm pretty sure that whatever it was got the picture at that point and left, but I think I snuck into my mom's bed after that.

3) I've also heard someone snap their fingers beside my ear as I was falling asleep one night while babysitting at my dad's house (my sister heard it too, since we were trying to share the couch). I had a hard enough time falling asleep that night without the snapping, but I also found myself starring at the wall thinking there was someone there watching over me. (my friend says it was my guide, but i'm still not 100% sure).

It was a dark and snowy night, as Brandon and I traversed home from Ann Arbor. Our usual route home was closed, and thus we ended up lost down a stretch of forested road. Stopping in the road to turn around his head lights shone upon long slender legs clad in tailored black slacks, with the span of them going far longer then that of a regular man. The trunk of the man seemed to be going up quite tall, putting the man at a good 8 feet tall in appearance. Long arms seemed to hang close to where the knee's ought to be, and it appeared as if many curling limbs where protruding from the man.

In a quick terrified heartbeat I was sure the internet had come to life, and I would met my end by Slenderman.

Then it turned out to be a beat up road sign advertising Wendy's and Tim Hortons, and behind it a really thick tree with most of the limbs torn off, and a few very slender little twiggy ones in front of it. The metal poles of the sign are what made it look like it had legs.

The whole way home I swore every shadow-drenched sign post was Slenderman.

Can you see him??

Slenderman is my BFF and he sings me lullabies every night with his non-existant mouth until I pass out like a drunkard.

But on topic, my mom insists our house is haunted. I've, 'experienced,' some stuff, but nothing that'd convince me. I like to say, 'Ghost do not exist in the house,' from this one cartoon from when I was a kid, since that basically sums up my feelings toward the matter.

I think ghosts could exist, just not in my house.

I got into psychic development stuff last year. I became delusional for a while (and when I say delusional, I mean I thought I was gonna cause things to short-circuit if I left my house. It wasn't pretty.) I guess that's my fault, though. (I'm probably the one that left myself open to that). It's over now, but my pendulum still gives the wrong answers, even after purifying it multiple times. I haven't given up on the idea of psychic development, but for now I'm sticking to oracle cards and attempting to meditate. Seriously, I really wanna hold a conversation with my spirit guides too! (and meditation is hard!)
On another note, don't ever approach earthbound spirits (unless you are an experienced pro). You risk having them follow you home.

I'm not sure how many of these are actually paranormal or probably just my imagination, infact, I mostly suspect the latter but I'll drop them in here anyway.

These are a few of my own expereinces which I find most interesting:

Firstly, I remember seeing a shadow walking past a light spot on the wall which appeared to be a girl in a dress holding a candle. It was so distinct and I'm pretty sure that it wasn't a dream. There was nowhere this shadow could have come from, it was just... there and it sort of drifted along to the end of the light spot where it disappeared.

Secondly, I remember sitting in my room and seeing something red clinging onto my door frame half way. I remember it, stereotypical as this may sound, being a sort of.. small red demon like creature. It was small but it was just sort of there, half way, clinging on and peering around. It was gone when I blinked.

An odd one that I remember was seeing three old women walking down road. I was drawn to them for no particular reason, they were just three normal old women, after looking away for a second, they were just gone. They could not have gone anywhere and they were nowhere in sight.

But the one that I find most peculiar was this one girl in a wheelchair who I saw every day for a week. One day, I saw her and looked away for a second and she had disappeared. It was only a second that I looked away for and it was a wide open space with nowhere she could have gone.

Unless your imagination is very, very realistic, I can't see that being fake. (wheelchairs can be fast, but not that fast, right?) When in doubt, trust your intuition. It's usually right.

My Sora figure got knocked off my dresser once. I was sitting on the floor in my room drawing when it happened. Nobody else was in my room (I don't even think there was anyone else home at that time), windows and stuff were all closed, heater/air conditioner was off, and I know for a fact that I didn't bump the dresser. It was like someone hit it or something (it surprised me). After it fell, I put it back the way it was and tried to shove the dresser to see if it would fall (looking for the explanation). The only way I could knock it down was by slamming the dresser drawer, and a force like that would have been loud enough for me to hear.
It sounds kinda stupid, but I've still got no explanation for why it fell.

I can't loook at slenderman without being freaked out, because in our old house in NC (which apparently is on an old grave site), if we took pics of the woods, there would be a tall lookng man in the pictures without a face.

Also, I just found a picture of rule 34 on slenderman...what?

Also, in NC, I had "Imaginary friends" that I could hear talking to me and anytime they were around, things would move on their own or doors would slam and everything...the scary part, is when we moved from that house, my parents asked "what happened to your friends?" And I told them they had to stay at the old house, and when we went back to that house, I said "Guess who's back??? Jamie!!" (one of my friends) Since then, anytime there are ghosts involved, they sort of..."talk" to me and come to me...like they think I know what to do. Apparently I'm a ghost psycic, but I don't know if I can believe that.

When my father passed away on Thanksgiving of this year I went to visit the old house I used to live in with my family when it was whole. He remained in this house even after the divorce and I had not seen him in the entirety of 5 years. I was not allowed inside due to my father's death being investigated as a possible murder, though, highly unlikely. In any case, I remember not being allowed into the house.

I walked just enough outside of the wall of the front of the house to not touch it or interfere with any further investigation. It was at around 9:00pm when I decided to do this and the night was chilly and dark. The open window leading to the kitchen had bars attached to it preventing any entry or exit and the screen that once kept flies away was now filled with holes. A curtain swung itself in the breeze of the night back and forth almost alluring as if towards the window itself. I walked closely to the window and felt a very chill that is comparable to ice cubes running down my spine occur. I took a few steps back after hearing a noise come from inside. I spoke aloud to it as if my father was there listening, but it was one of the creepiest feelings I'd ever had.

Used to have night terrors when I was little - hyperactive imagination. However, one thing that felt very real was the night I woke up to noises in the hallway, horrible sounds.... then something came and it got quiet, calm. Went into the hallway, saw my dead great-grandmother, who told me to go back to bed and get a good night of sleep for once. Slept through the rest of the night.

mind telling me that 'some stuff' you had in your house? lol

Eh, they're not really as interesting or scary as the other stories on this thread, but sure.

The first I can remember was when we first moved to this house I was sitting on my bed reading a magazine with my glasses next to me. So I was just sitting still and reading when my glasses flipped over by themselves. I'm pretty sure I didn't imagine that, and I wasn't moving around, so the vibrations couldn't have flipped them.

Another was when I was laying down on the futon my family puts down in the living room at night to relax and watch tv and movies on. We have it set up like a bed with pillows and blankets, and it's big enough to be like a double bed. Anyway, I think I was watching tv and suddenly I felt kind of scared for no reason. Then a stack of pillows fell over. I thought it was my mom, so I turned to ask her why she kicked the pillows over, but she was in the bathroom... And these were the kind used for beds, so you can stack them and they won't fall over by themselves.

I usually sleep with the little tv in my room on, since I hate dead silence. (No pun intended...) Well, one night I decided I should try sleeping with it off, so I did. When I woke up it was turned on... I may have hit the remote in my sleep or something, though, but I sometimes fall asleep with the remote next to me and have never accidentally turned it off...

And the most recent was, I think, last month... I was in the shower when one of the shampoo bottles we keep on a little rack in the shower fell down. That's never happened before, but I think it was probably just a water pipe shaking in the wall... Also, I'm certain I didn't bump it.

Oh, speaking of showers! I wear a tank top under my clothes, so when I undress to take a shower it goes: bra, tank top, shirt, pants, underwear. So usually my tank top is under my shirt, pants, and underwear. Well, once when I got out of the shower it was on this towel rack thing we have. I usually undress the same way, and if I did it I don't remember.

That's about it! Nothing too bad, eh? I still like to think we don't have a ghost, though.

Whenever I go to my parents house to visit them (they live states away and I only see them once or twice a year) something odd happens. At some point during my stay, the doorbell will ring...and it is not the normal doorbell ring. When you ring it normally, it just goes "ding dong," but when it rings that one time randomly while I'm there it's a song. Everyone in the house hears it. We have found no one pushing the button...checked the wiring...tried to make it ring that special way, but it just doesn't. Pretty sure it's an angel or a passed relative just letting us know they are there, but it is pretty insane.

I have a couple of experience about paranormal things but I guess I can now handle my self well. People use to believe that I have a 3rd eye. But I don't believe them maybe it's just my vibes are just to strong that I can sense them.

the third eye is the chakra that's basically located at your forehead. It's generally connected to clairvoyance, but although everyone has "a third eye", not everyone develops their abilities to that point (yes, I support the "everyone is psychic and doesn't know it yet" idea).

On that note, a good way to "open" the third eye is through meditation, but I suck at meditating :blubber:.
I've looked into a lot of psychic development stuff, (but havn't actoally taken any classes or courses) and since most of them say "meditation, meditation", I havn't really gotten too far... I wanna talk to spirit too...

I was actually stalked by Slender Man for about a year. This is ironic given I'm one of the Slenderverse creators.

Also: on February 2nd, 2007, a friend of mine died in a car accident. Ever since then, I always sense him near me. He's a guardian angel of sorts, really. I always feel safe and I feel it's him who saved me from dying when I was hit by a car.

I've also had:
A poltergeist in my house (he's still here, actually)
The spirit of my dog who had passed lie on my bed next to me
A run-in with a shadow spirit
And a few other instances I can't remember.

well, everything happens for a reason, so chances are there is a reason you were "born weird".
:)

I really dislike it when people try to say that.

Religious folks tell me that sort of thing, saying what happens to me is God trying to prove his existence to me, because I don't believe in a God.

I find if odd that religious folks tell you that...seeing how the Bible says only angels and demons exist...not spirits/ghosts. Pretty sure being a psychic or a medium is also not supported in the Bible. However, I'm religious and well, I think I believe in these sort of things. My boyfriend doesn't...saying the Bible says only angels and demons exist. So, who knows! Maybe it's just Baptists that believe that...since we both are, but I wasn't raised strong southern Baptist. My mom and dad were, but they definitely think their house is haunted. My mom thought I was haunted for the longest time, lol.

I was watching something on tv once (documentary). Apparently, the catholic church (or the vatican, to be more specific), does believe in demons. They have exorcists working for them (he carried a sword). They say that earthbound spirits are souls in purgatory, and that threatening and destructive entities are demons. Either way, they say to avoid all contact with the spirit world...

Yeah, pretty sure being possessed by a demon is not something I'd like to experience. I'm not too familiar with the Catholic church or their beliefs, but it seems they share the commonality of performing exorcists. I find the spirit world intriguing and I've wanted to contact spirits, or whatnot before. After watching some show, I decided that was probably a baaaaad idea, lol. It was a show talking with people who had supposedly tried to contact spirits, and how not knowing what you're doing can open a portal for spirits to enter in from. Not all the spirits were good, so they were attacking the people who opened these portals and stuff. Whether it's true or not, pretty much decided I didn't want to take the risk, lol.

Maybe we watched the same show! (lol. the one I saw was on the history channel-canada). I'll admit that it did freak me out too.

Whether it's a demon or not, you can't be posessed without giving some sort of permission. (ie. you would have to invite them into your house or self or soomething). I say never use a ouija board, (especially if you're an amature), and always surround yourself with white light before trying to communicate with spirits. Oh, and don't just call out to any random spirit that might be nearby, but be specific (with tarot cards, you are supposed to request the highest guidance and protection). You also have to be emotionally (and mentally) stable when doing that kind of stuff.
Again, I learned to listen to my intuition the hard way. If something doesn't seem right, it's probably not. There's a whole lotta stuff online about psychic development and psychic protection, but a lot of psychics seem to say that there's no such things as demons anyways.

My first experience was around age of 3 during a pretty dangerous storm in The netherland. The lights were out and I was sleeping at my parents room because of my fear for dark. When a light thunder stroke I could see a few faces coming out of the wall, well, not really faces since I couldn't reconize them. Let's say, they had no eyes, something like that.
Well, like I said, they were coming out of the walls, with their mouths wide open, like they were screaming for help. I clearly could see that their expressions were.. scared, yet angry.
After the second flash the faces dissapeared, into the walls.
It was very weird yet.. interresting when I am thinking about it again.
Ohwell ^-^

Do you remember the name of the documentary? It sounds interesting.

I wrecked his shit.

Oddly enough, one of the first things I saw online today was a video of John Denver dueling with some other dude back in the seventies.

Weird, man.

My father sadly passed away last Thursday. =( I'm still shaken up by this, I'm still crying a lot. I didn't find out he passed until Friday morning.

Thursday night, I had dreams that my father passed away. Friday after I found out, I was getting a drink out of the fridge, I turned around and I saw him standing behind me. It was very comforting to know he is still with me. If it was just some random person, I would have freaked out. I did start crying again after I saw him.

My sister once contacted John Denver through a Ouija board. He knocked over one of her Beanie babies from a countertop (but it turned out to have been one of her friends who accidentally knocked her foot against the countertop to make it fall).

No paranormal experiences for me though

**haven't visited this thread in a while, but thought to join in again**

I am Catholic, born and raised, and yes, we thoroughly believe in demons. I wouldn't say I'm a hardcore Catholic, because I don't believe in everything they say 100% (I believe no single religion or belief system has it totally right), but when it comes to angels, demons, and spirits, yeah, I believe.

When it comes down to exorcisms, it's pretty intense. First off, it's hard to get a Vatican sanctioned exorcism. There has to be enough proof to the church to validate the rite of exorcism, because like all other rites in Catholicism, it's not one to be thrown around loosely. Once it is sanctioned, priests that are trained in the rites of exorcism begin to perform it. It can take a short time or a very long time, depending on the strength of the demon possessing a person. It's a pretty interesting thing to read about honestly.

I certainly have a strong belief in angels because of my dad. He's seen angels before. He doesn't know why he was sure they were angels, but he knew they were. I get a lot of my sensitivity to the spirit world from him. He sees spirits all the time and converses with his parents (my grandfather died in 1995 and my grandmother in 2000) all the time. My youngest brother is also very tuned into the spirit world. He's had several encounters with shadow people as well as other ghostly presences. I hear and see things all the time. I've only had a handful of experiences scare me. The rest were very benign or even comforting.
