View Full Version : Original or recreation of original fandom?

I was just curious what the proper nomenclature is for this.

I'm the author of a published fantasy book (with the sequel coming out in a few months) and I'm wondering what it's technically called when I make cosplays of my own characters.

Is it an original cosplay? Or is it a recreation from a book that happens to be my original creation?

Doesn't really matter in the end, but just curious!

Hmm...
I think it's the latter one. But I seriously don't know for sure since it's your creation. But I guess since it's a published work you could call it just "(original) cosplay" and just mention in the information that it's actually your own creation since you wrote the source said character appears in.
Good luck!

Thanks! I guess it's somewhat of an unusual situation! One I never thought I'd be in, but I'm not complaining!

I was thinking of cosplaying my own main character when my first manga volume comes out and I do not see that as an original cosplay as it is actually based on something other than just a thought.
I think you should go for it! :)
