You know you're a geek when you know more countries than your history teacher, as a result of Hetalia. (I haven't done this, I'm not in school, but I've heard of this happening XD )

You know you're a geek x10 when you get a geek tattoo. (I've done this.)

You buy a bunch of party snacks (chips, dips, candies, and sodas) and people think you're having a party, when in actuality you're having yourself a sci-fi/ anime marathon in your room and plan on eating all those snacks yourself XD

You help kids out instead of the teacher in your U.S History class.
You ask your history teacher if you could borrow the history textbook until the end of the school year.
You've read the U.S History textbook all the way through, more than once, on your own free time.

YKYAGW... You own a tardis cookie jar
... you can carry on an extended conversation on any of the following topics; star trek, twilight zone, Babylon 5, Doctor Who, Torchwood, a wide variety of books, flute things
... you get extra credit in classes for your historical knowledge (which you obtained by reading historical fiction/romance/the main character is an amazing (non sparkly) vampire books)
... You can read sheet music
... you know what a lyre, roll step, and a plume are
... you think your friends idling car sounds like the tardis

Me and my friends make it whenever we can. Though one time I forgot to get heavy whipping cream so we tried using almond creamer. Not the best idea :crest:

YKYAGW:

You make a papercraft Prince and Katamari ball to put in your cubicle at work to watch over your computer monitor. >.>

You write college papers about South Park, Final Fantasy, and Grand Theft Auto. (Hurray for being a media student!)

You have a Pen-Pen plushie standing next to your Borg Bear from the Star Trek Experience next to your Yoda figurine that came from a soap bar next to the Kodomo clay figurine from Princess Mononoke. In some universe that setup is wrong, but it looks right on your shelf.

You go to the Harry Potter Exhibit when it's in town; get sorted by the sorting hat, fangasm over being able to see everything, inspect the robes/clothing to see how it was done, point out all the variances from the books that pop up, fangasm some more, and finally head home calling it a day well spent.

I finally got around to watching Black Butler, I've only seen the first episode and I already want to cosplay it. But at the moment it's more because of the design.

You buy a cat collar and cat ears made for humans, and nobody's phased when they see you dancing around in it like an idiot at the Halloween dance. (This is so late, but oh well.)

You accidentally add Japanese suffixes to your friend's names. I couldn't catch myself one time today before it slipped out.

You FINALLY found your anime keychain that you lost, and everyone is like "YOU FOUND *insert-character's-name-here*!!!! :bigtu:" (I FINALLY found Willy today~ Everybody's like "YOU FOUND HIM!"...that's bad.)

Everyone knows your favorite animes/mangas even if they barely know you.

I've sadly done alot of these things D:

You know you're a geek when you:
Want to wear your marching band uniform around school because you think you look sexy in it.
You offer to teach your teacher how to read manga.
You have the highest grade in History/Geography and you tutor your fellow students.
You take a foreign language at school because you want to and not because it's required. (It is at my school anyways...) And you have the highest grade in it. -guilty-
You spend extra time to teach yourself a hard language on your own time. -schuldig-
You check your pockets before throwing pants/jackets in the wash and you find SD Cards and DS/Gameboy/PSP games of different sorts.
Your parents know your favorite characters/fandoms.

You Know You're A Geek When;

-Your entire year is made good (despite all the bad things) because you know that you'll be sitting beside a Basoon (http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://faculty.weber.edu/tpriest/bassoon05.gif&imgrefurl=http://faculty.weber.edu/tpriest/Bassoon%2520Music/bassoonmusic.html&usg=__WKN82y0ZXolSrfZL0qEcabFgtLg=&h=471&w=309&sz=21&hl=en&start=0&sig2=8BJqj_cKV41x8r6eZTW93Q&zoom=1&tbnid=JGWQ1METViAigM:&tbnh=127&tbnw=83&ei=CPxVTbexDcOblgea25TiBg&prev=/images%3Fq%3DBassoon%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1020%26bih% 3D585%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=359&vpy=65&dur=250&hovh=277&hovw=182&tx=105&ty=150&oei=CPxVTbexDcOblgea25TiBg&page=1&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0) twice a week in band for the rest of the semester.

Oh man. I didn't even like the Harry Potter movies as much, I STILL fangasmed over the exhibit. I'm really glad my girlfriend made me go, haha. (I didn't get sorted, though, because they just asked you what your favorite house was and then pressed that button on the hat XD' I already know I'm a Ravenclaw. Represent.)

YKYAGW:

-You constantly have to make stupid inside jokes regarding video games or YouTube videos about video games ("But if you do ____ it'll open your Space Inventory," for example) in any moderately appropriate scenario. Bonus points, of course, if no one saw it coming and it still fits perfectly.
-Sometimes before you do something, you feel compelled to roll a D20 to see if you'll do well or not. (Naturally, if it's an attack, you roll the appropriate dice afterwards for damage.)
-You make geeky foods. I haven't made sea salt ice cream, but I'm planning on butterbeer soon, and I've made a Katamari Damaci cake. It had the King of all Cosmos on it and a rainbow. It was delicious.
-You find yourself getting so excited about something you've talked to someone about it for a good half an hour before you've realized how little they probably care. Like how cool it is that my new sewing machine has settings for buttonholes (please note I'm used to working on a 60-year-old machine, so this is awesome to me), or how the combat system works in this newest video game you're playing.

Let's just try one more...

-you spend countless hours and a ridiculous amount of money replicating the clothing, hair, and general look of fictional characters in order to spend money to go to a building with a bunch of other people dressed up that ask for your picture? Maybe? Just maybe? No?

Wow I could go on for ages. It's late. Sorry for the wall of text XD I got carried away

YKYAGW:

-You subtly use anime/manga/movie/video game references in school assignments / debates, and the teacher accepts them as plausible.

-You crack internet jokes in class and the ENTIRE class understands it.

-You get to look at the official Tudors costumes and instead of being amazed at the detail, you automatically go see how the dress was constructed (then mom's boss told me not to touch it, lol).

-Your mom has an anime-related ringtone because she took your old phone, got used to the ringtone and now keeps using it even after getting a new one. And then tells you about how people react to her ringtone. ("Everyone in my office sings along with it when it rings!")

-Your mom compares you to "the ACTUAL Archbishops that stood on the street to invite people to go to their Church" (article here (http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/865313--bishops-invite-commuters-back-to-church)) and jokingly suggested that you should go in /your/ archbishop cosplay and help them out. When you read the article yourself, the first thing you notice is that the Archbishop clothing in Trinity Blood looks better than theirs.

-You look at your spending habits for the last year and realize that you've spent more money for hobbies than school.

When your explaining to your elder sister that MvC3 has been released and that your going to your boyfriends place to play it this weekend and how the night previously you where both going around town to see if any stores had it out already so he could buy it there and not wait until morning to get it. Then if he did find it that night he would transfer the money he had paid off on MvC3 at GameStop to be put towards a Nintendo 3DS and you said all this while wearing your boyfriends club shirt with a knock-off DBZ/Ninja anime character pattern on it then your sister looks you up and down and exclaims "You guys are nerds" while giggling amused.

Even when said sister named her orange truck Charmander and has a keychain toy of a Charmander hanging from the dash.

http://blog.onlinemetals.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/nerds.jpg

Edit:
That same night we where looking at Meijers for the MvC3 we found some Marvel figurines in the kids toy section. Boyfriend texted our friend that they had one of his favorite character....and Boyfriend was asked to buy it from him...and did.

We where at Mejiers, at 11pm, buying nothing but some soda and a childrens Marvel toy. On Valentines day.

Yeah, in the series, the universe is essentially controlled by the two world powers at the time that Earth was destroyed, which were China and America. Whenever they curse they do so in Chinese, unsubtitled. It was a good way to get around censorship (although, I'm pretty sure everyone can infer what gorram means. You know you're a geek when:
- Any apostrophe abuse drives you up the wall (and it's everywhere).
- Misspelled signs also drive you insane, to the point you want to pull the car over and fix their reader-board for them.
- You are the one convincing your fiancé to use a Star Wars theme for your recessional ("Throne Room and Finale", the first little bit does sound a bit like the beginning of the "Wedding March", and yes we're both nerds but apparently I've got him beat here because I'm not the one hesitating.) Pretty much all the wedding music is anime, game, movie, or 80's TV themes, or somehow related to the above. "Pachelbel's Canon" (bride's entrance) and "Fly Me to the Moon" (first dance) are both Evangelion-inspired even though we're using Sinatra's version of the latter, the wedding party will be entering the reception to "Tank!" played live on sax, and the Cutie Honey theme will play during the garter removal.
- You're holding a "geek wedding reception" one week after the real thing to celebrate with all your con friends, at which the dress code is cosplay. This is because you first met through cosplay, and you want to honor this and party with all the friends who couldn't be invited to the family wedding.

You know you're a geek when:

- Your last date took place at a museum,
- The last party you went you conversed about museums, psychology, and biology, (I found another geek 8D; )
- The only reason you look in the makeup isle is for the sole purpose of cosplay,
- You still play board games regularly with your geeky friends.

You know you're a geek when:

- you've seen the original 4 Doctors for Doctor Who (and are only 21)
- you fangirl/boy over the idea of meeting the original Darth Vader
- your dad wants you to get an autograph for him from Lt. Commander Worf
- you use the Nintendo candy boxes as figures on your shelves
- your co-workers know you go to conventions and dress up
- a co-worker sends you a picture of a full-sized Gundam
- you have Winnie the Pooh figurines
- you have as many things as you can related to Harry Potter, and plan to get what you DON'T have in your collection
- your parents themselves are geeks (my parents are Trekkies)

My mom told me to include this:

Your sister looks at you in your cosplay, cocks her head, puts her hands on her hips and says, "Why can't you be normal like me?"
- go figure, I have a special needs sister and she comes out with that to me when she sees me in any of my cosplays.

-anything u see thats related to your favorite video games you buy
-collect special edition strategy guides or art books from games you have or better yet you don't own
-considered buying the special edition of killzone 3 when you don't have a ps3
-you have a countdown til your next con and reset it when the con is over
-(for me) husband wants to buy ear plugs because everytime you hear good news about a game you are working for you squeal
-highlight of the day is reading gaming news and get stoked that Kaiden is back in ME 3
-everyone in your local gamestop know you and know what you are going to pre-order before you get to the register (if it isnt pre-ordered)
-living room decorations consist of action figures and posters from your favorite game that your friend got you since they work at gamestop
-when you first walk up the stairs and the first thing to see is the stand up terran marine from Starcraft 2 that they had on display from gamestop.
And
-have two geek tattoos one including gears of war logo

you have ever read your entire history book for fun and had long conversations on the significant impact certain events had on the world with your teacher during class while the rest of the class is like O_o (did that in the seventh grade LOL that teacher loved me!)

You have argued historical events with your teacher and won with the statement "where YOU there? Did YOU live it? 04-14-2011, 09:18 AM
For Theature Class, you have an exercize to repeat what the person says and try not to get tripped up. To beat your oppenent, you quote as much of the Doctor Who episode "Midnight" that you can remember (RoseTylerMarthaJonesDonnaNobleTARDIS!) and finish it off with a high-speed version of This Vicious Cabaret. He looses, and for your next victim, you sing Cruel Angel Thesis at top speed. Which is responded with nothing but incoherent blabber.

zizi994
04-15-2011, 07:27 PM
...any time anyone brings up pretty much anything that is quotable (manga, anime, movies, TV shows, videos on YouTube, abridged series, etc.) you must quote it. (My boyfriend does this and I'm starting to do it, too.) (Or you quote things at the most inappropriate times. Like if, for example, I tell my boyfriend "I am all your's." and he says "AND YOU ARE ALL MINE!" which is a quote from Excel Saga.)

...all the contacts in your phone have Japanese honorifics in their name.

...your dad walks in and says "Hey, I got your concert band uniform from middle school drycleaned." and you respond with "Cool, I thought I lost that! I could use it for cosplay!"

...your final Engineering project of the year is a choice between making a chess set or a robot and you decide to make a Miku Hatsune robot while the people you associate yourself with in that class are debating over making a Hellsing chess set.

...you're trying to fall asleep and you can't because you can't stop thinking of how you would make Asuka's plugsuit or which outfit you should wear if you ever manage to cosplay as Ciel.

...you think to yourself, "What kind of tattoos do I want to get once I turn 18? Well, I definitely want a triforce and a flammel...OOO that would be so cool if I got 'God is in his heaven, all is right with the world' on my arm or something!", then when you ask your boyfriend how nerdy it would be if you got a "Unit-02" tattoo on your arm he is left speechless even though he was the one who introduced you to Evangelion.

...your dad tells you that you may not be able to go to your next convention because your brother's wedding may be the same weekend and you cry for a good while about it. (It is going to be the same weekend, but my dad said I could still go since it's not till Sunday afternoon. :))

...when the best date you've had with your boyfriend in a while was rewatching Evangelion 1.11 then watching Evangelion 2.22 with the sound system waaay up, to the point where you can't even hear each other over the explosions.

...it's really hard not to gasp or "ooo" and "ahh" over something new you read about in your favorite manga and/or gaming magazine while reading it in public. (Happens to me every time I read Nintendo Power in public.)

...you refer to characters in anime by their voice actors just because, or when a random extra has one line and you instantly recognize the voice and say "Hi, I'm !"

...you get a prompt of "Write about how envy can consume a person" in English and you write an entire paper on Envy from [I]Fullmetal Alchemist.

...you and your boyfriend's "song" is "Fly Me to the Moon."

...your ringtone for said boyfriend is in fact "Fly Me to the Moon" and your regular ringtone is "Leather Pants" by LittleKuriboh and your text ringtone "Rolling Girl" by Miku Hatsune though it used to be Navi going "Hey! Listen!" and your voicemail ringtone is "That day...all female officers will be required to wear TINY MINISKIRTS!"

Man I should stop. I could go on forever. :D

Edit:

You know your a geek when you spend an hour looking for some internet/email thing about how the Empire/Rebelion will never win only to turn to friends and family for help and offering a prize of a cookie.

Seriously, does anyone remember this from like 1997. Two list Why the Empire will never win and Why the Rebelion will never win. Very similiar to the Evil Warlord list and the 28 types of game masters. Sorry, cookies for family and friends only.

You know you are geek...
*When everything in your daily life involves either comics, manga, past role-plays, the cost of that oh-so-fabulous cosplay on your list/covention, and starting arguments with friends on how they're so wrong about *insert name of series* here and are in fact correct.
*You look forward to the next convention, rather than cruise vacation to another country (Sigh, this is true only due to the fact I hate spending time with family as they ruin my free-time with complaints)
*You spend hours every day fighting with your wii remote as you try beating the clock in your game to try watering every single plant/plot on your virtual farm, also giggling at how cute the bachelor/bachelorette heart scenes are in Harvest Moon.
*Spend hours posing in front of the mirror trying to find the perfect pose for the cosplay you're doing 6-7 months away from now.

You know you're a geek when...

• You cosplay or you want to cosplay
• Spend hours watching cosplay skits on Youtube
• Join a cosplay website when you can't even cosplay
• When you epically fail at something and say "That wasn't fail, just version 1.0" after burning my parents' popcorn...
• When after you eat an ice cream sandwich and go back to playing your video game you say, "Now that I've eaten something, I can finish saving Zelda!" no joke, I actually did this and my brother looked me weird.
• When. You. Love. Writing. Fan. Fiction.
• You like chili dogs

-You start using anime/manga/game/movie/etc themed "swear words" (my favourite is Shinra).
-You give your costumes nicknames (I call my Euphie the wedding dress).
-You are getting good at predicting twists in storyline (I've had to actually stop myself from doing this as I keep ruining the story for myself).
-Your friends and family can give basic information for and sometimes quote from the various fandoms that you like, not because they have watched or like it but because you talk about them so much (for me, especially the poem "Loveless" from FFVII: Crisis Core I quote it a lot).
