I guess I have a lot of questions here, considering I know nothing about cons or really cosplays for that matter. xD I plan on going to A-Kon 22 this June, which i'm sure is going to be super hot considering it's Texas. I really want to cosplay Romano with my twin sister as Italy, but I can't find any patterns for the shirt. >.> As for the wig, I plan on getting this (http://cgi.ebay.com/059-New-short-Light-Brown-cosplay-party-Wig-/160500916539?pt=US_CSA_MWA_Wigs_Extensions&hash=item255e99a13b#ht_2667wt_905) one from ebay.
Do you think it would be okay? Is there a better one you've found? Please, let me know. C:

As for my first convention, i'm going to do a photoshoot with a ton of other Hetalia cosplayers around my age. I'm super nervous, and i'm pretty sure i'll either get lost or do something you're not suppost to do at cons. If anyone plans on going to A-Kon and are experienced, can you give me a few tips and rules so I don't look like a complete idiot?

Also, do you think I should try out an italian accent for the Con or just stick with a lower, average voice. My italian accent isn't that bad but it sometimes trails off and sounds British. o-o.

Thanks, guys. CCC:

Romano wig:

Your wig choice is fine but it dosen't have a ahoge unless your planning to style it:

http://theonenameda.deviantart.com/art/Hetalia-Ahoge-Tutorial-170989821

Now the accent part...

It would be fun to talk with an Italian accent BUT try not to over do it. A group of Hetalia cosplayers at PMX started to talk with their accent. It was cute a first but then it got annoying. Also this Italian girl(She didn't cosplay)walked up towards that Italy cosplayer, mad because she's said; "Your Italian accent is stupid, please shut up." If you talk with Italian accent, practice!! If you can't pull it off then don't.

The pattern is excellent. Thank you! And I did plan on styling my wig... whats the point of being Romano if you didn't have a curl? xD The tutorial is great, by the way. It doesn't seem too incredibly hard to make one. And I was thinking of only doing the accent every once in a while... like in I suppose funny situations. I do understand how annoying it could get after a while. xD. Thanks for everything, again. Huge help. Cx

I second Fantasy Sheep wigs being awesome. They come pre-styled, but... their ahoges suck XD;; Best to make your own in addition to a Fantasy Sheep wig.

For America, i got their wig. Look at it in action on my avatar c:

For Italy, i got this wig: http://cgi.ebay.com/Hetalia-Axis-powers-Italy-cosplay-wig_W0QQitemZ250767032592QQcategoryZ155350QQcmdZVi ewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m506QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DNGRI% 26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUA%26otn%3D10%26pmod%3D250 736726805%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7134280701722986519# ht_2485wt_905 The ahoge was horrid (i remade one on my own after wearing it a few times) and you can see in my gallery, that wig was beautiful. A little TOO red, but beautiful. So if your sister needs help on a wig, go for that one (if you like the anime coloring of Italy's hair to the manga coloring).

If you can dish out the money, i HIGHLY suggest this wig: http://cgi.ebay.com/APH-Hetalia-South-Italy-Cosplay-Wig-gift-Coif-/160547015379?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2561590ad3 Its absolutely beautiful, and cosmonde gets nothing but high reviews. I'd buy their Italy wig if i could afford it щ(; _ ; щ)

As for how to act... as long as you act respectful, you should be fine. Don't act "in-character" too far, and you shouldn't have any problems.

Accents... are fun to do in moderation. I usually dip into my Italy voice when saying something in-character, then go back to my normal voice on every other occasion.

Those wigs... are... AMAZING! And I really have no money limits considering I have $3000 to do whatever I please with. I'll probably re make the ahoges for both of the wigs, but that's no issue. Thank you so much for your suggestions. They're both my top picks now for wigs.

And with the accent, that's exactly what I plan to do. Quotes will probably have an accent... but I really don't want to overdo it. C:

$3000 to do what you please with...? ;AAA; Lucky. All my cosplay money is spare change i save finding on the floor on campus, or money my mom sends me for food (and i don't eat for the week :P ) Order and ship me that Italy will, will ya?

Yeah, my Hetalia group tends to be in-character 90% of the time and always talk in accent... but thats at private gatherings. At actual conventions, we aren't like that. My girlfriend was 100% in-character as Romano the entire time... ended up confusing a lot of people into thinking she was just an angry person XD;;

Well... the money is more like last year's birthday and christmas money put together. ^-^' And a true cosplayer would spend their money on cosplays other than food. >:D.

I always thought it would be really fun to have a Hetalia group with outings and meetings and everything. That would be like... a dream come true! :D And i'm probably going to be nice to people who don't know what the hell Hetalia is or Romanos personality, but for people that do, well... xDDD. Let's just say i'd probably be doing a lot of cussing, especially towards Spain. C:

OTL I got no money for my birthday or christmas. Just various things for my dorm. Well... can't complain. 32'' flatscreen TV.

Haha. Well, make sure you don't go overboard with the in-character. My Romano cursed out a Spain who proceeded to stare at her in shock all "WHAT DID I DO!?" I had to quickly explain she was being in character XD;; Ahaha. Oops. (( Thinking about it... I'm really hungry right now. But i lack any money whatsoever. Dammit, buying that fem!Germany wig with my food money... survival off cup o noodles, here i come!! ))

And if you don't mind me asking... what area of the world are you in? Our Hetalia group is in San Francisco, and we meet up once or twice a month. Next gathering is Saturday, a lunch in Japantown (which is a block from AOD), then again on the monday after that. Our last gathering was... 2 weeks ago i think? 2 or 3.

I'm in Texas, around the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area. I guess it's a pretty big cosplay area when you consider how big A-Kon is. >.>. Your so lucky to get to do things like that. I'm not even sure i'll be able to go to a convention this year because of Drill Team competitions, and A-Kon is the same time as Officer camp... and i'm probably going to make officer. -___-. Honestly i'd rather do more outings than conventions, but I guess you do meet your groups at conventions. ^-^.

And true true. I have a feeling i'll be making alot of friends at the convention xD

There's a big hetalia cosplay group in DFW area, actually. If you search youtube for "hetalia whipped cream," or "hetalia dirty little secret," that's them.

The DFW Hetalia group has varied ages (high school & college aged from what I can tell). My daughter is 17 and has gone to several of their events. They just had an event this past Saturday that she missed 'cause she had the flu. They met at a local park & then had dinner at a German restaurant.

Edited to add - if you buy the Cosmonde Italy wig, you won't need to re-do the ahoges. My 17 yo has the N. Italy wig and it's even better than it looks in the pictures.

We'll be at A-Kon the entire weekend. You're more than welcome to hang with my daughter & her friends.

That's way too cool. I'm only 14, so I really worry on how i'll be treated in these sort of events. xD. As soon as I get my wig and a few outfits, I really plan on joining a group and just... going for it. C:

It's a lot of fun. They went ice skating for their Christmas event. It was great seeing them cosplaying & skating. I usually go with my daughter (that way I can take pics for her - that & she doesn't drive yet).

I think for A-Kon, there will be several shoots - one that is rated PG and at least one more mature.

Gah. I'm so jealous. I wish my mom supported both Hetalia and Cosplaying. She thinks it's all completely, ridiculously stupid. D: I practically have no support on any of this, but that's okay, because I think it'll be worth it. I think I might cry of joy from all the help you've given me. Thank you sosososososo much! xD

If you're not totally set on the pattern linked on the first page, there's this one (http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/patterns/sewingpatterns.pl?patternid=13887).
If I can ever convince my sister to cosplay the Italies with me, that's the one I plan on using. c:
