Anime Matsuri will be having a formal dance this year!
The day and time are to be announced, but this first post will be updated with details as they become available, including detailed dress-code.

The Formal Dance will be an up-scale dance party. We will be playing formal music from anime and video games(think Waltz for the Moon from FFVIII), and there will be a formal dress-code strictly enforced. Have fun breaking out your formal cosplay, prom dresses, or other formal attire!

Dress Code:

-Dress must be at least semi-formal. Like a suit or button-down shirt, dress, etc.

-No jeans, t-shirts, polo shirts, no denim at all

-No bare feet, tennis shoes, flip flops, etc

-No armor unless it is ceremonial/formal (No stormtroopers)

-Formal Cosplay is great! As long as it is formal: such as Princess Zelda, Ouran suits, etc. You can also do a formal-version of a character, such as formal Sora.

-Serious crossplay is ok

-No over-sized props or costumes. Wings and such can be a hazard to people on the dance floor. Props in general are not a good idea, and you won't have a free hand for them, cause you'll be dancing, right? ;)

-No skirts shorter than knee-length. If your dress is close, or you're not sure, please ask here and make sure.

-Military uniforms are ok, as long as they are formal uniforms, such as the ones from Fullmetal Alchemist.

-Masks are optional. You are more than welcome to wear one, but they are not required.

-No bare mid-drifts or chests. Strapless dresses are ok(as long as they are formal).

-Formal attire from other cultures, such as kimono, are ok

Here are some examples of acceptable outfits:

This Dress Code will be strictly enforced. There will be staff stationed at the door to make sure that everyone is dressed appropriately before they can enter. If any inappropriate behavior or dress is observed, you will be asked to leave.

If you have any questions, suggestions for music, or comments at all, please post them here or PM me.

Woah, this is awesome! I also just got my first formal cosplay. I'll totally be there! 8D

I have a question though. Is there an age limit?

Nope, no age limit. You have to have a valid conbadge and be within the dress code, but other than that, anyone is welcome!

I'm scared I'll look like an idiot because I'll be by myself xD

Don't worry about that. Even if you're by yourself, there'll be plenty of people there, especially if you don't mind dancing with another girl. (There are always more girls than guys.)

My friends and I will be there. I will most likely be there in my Ouran cosplay, as Mori, if I do go as Mori I will be with a Honey in a dress, its from the episode with the Lobelia girls. I really hope we can do those, if not, then I will be going as Bard from Black Butler in a suit with a Finny and a Ciel.
