What are your thoughts on the upcoming royal wedding?

Can I post if I'm Canadian? I certainly want to watch it on TV. Royal pomp and splendour, oh my...
And I'm more optimistic about the couple themselves compared to Charles and Diana.

Well I don't know about across the pond, but up North I can tell you that we (aka I) am sick of hearing about it, and about Kate Middleton's newest faux pas. I mean, I guess I'm happy for them and all, but the news is friggan EVERYWHERE, and I really don't care that much. It's not like I'm invited to the wedding. lol

lol XD
I swear every day there is something on the news about her wearing a dress that is too revealing, or does something that isn't "royal appropriate". It's pretty much just the tabloids trying to find an interesting story... but it's really not that interesting. I swear, I won't be surprised if I see a story about her bowel functions and how it's un-princess like to have them :/

Which is hilarious because all anyone in the U.S. ever says is "She's so poised! And her wardrobe is impeccable! She seems so down-to-earth and modern yet fully capable of handling the pressures of royal life!"

I guess it's like a grass-is-greener thing, because I think Michelle Obama is rad, but it seems like everything she does/says/wears is scrutinized, picked apart, and deemed unfitting for a First Lady of these great United States.

Or it might just be because she's Black.

Haha that's too bad. I like Michelle Obama too! I think she's lovely :3

I dunno, I know there is good stuff about Kate Middleton too, I just don't pay much attention to any of it. I like her, and I think she's pretty. My mom hates her though, because she thinks I should marry Prince William instead XD
Anyway, I'll watch the wedding on tv but other than that I'm just not interested.

Oh, I hadn't even heard about that wedding. But yeah, royal weddings must be fun, when you're rich and you can do stuff like that. :P

Yeah, whilst the entire country is in a horrific panic over massive government cuts that put people's health and general happiness at risk. :B

I remember seeing a commercial during the few times I watch TV in a month about getting Princess Diana replica rings for like, 30 bucks. They also had the gul to say none of the jewels were fake.

I never laughed so hard at a pathetic attempt to make money.

Other than that, who cares.

And because she's a Democrat. Rush Limbaugh said she was a hypocrite for her healthy eating campaign while she's "fat." He also called the campaign tyranny. Something tells me he'd have no problem if Sarah Palin was doing this.

This blog post hit the nail on the head on so many levels: http://pandagon.net/index.php/site/all_women_are_fat/

Hmm...Both of them seem highly over rated, in my opinion. Neither of them have done anything particularly noteworthy or have any particular talents, aside from having relationships with men of influence, though both men seem to be merely figureheads of their respective governments. Of course, they're both doomed to living in the shadows of predecessors. Middleton will forever be plagued with the comparison to the late Princess Diana, who was immortalised as well as idealised thanks to her early death. While Michelle has been fated to a term of endless criticisms due to people calling Obama's election into the White House the "Second Camelot." Though Jackie O. trumps her when it comes to both fashion and the influence of said fashion.

I like how Kate Middleton is supposed to be 'accessible' and 'a normal person' because she's upper-middle class rather than aristocracy.

Right. Thanks for that.

My thoughts;

Who cares? Doesn't apply to me even though I live in the UK. Just another wedding.

I get the day off, my only thoughts are whether to brave the outdoors and get pissed or stay inside and hide away from the horror of it all.

I gotta say that I love the Canadian one! But blue and silver are my favorite colors so I'm a tiny bit biased.

I'm kind of excited to see what Kate's dress is going to look like but I love fashiony things so that's a given..haha!

They made William look a lot more like his father on that one... but at least poor Kate doesn't look like a depressed troll doll.

I don't really get why people in the US are so interested in the wedding. It's all over the TV Guide channel almost 24/7, and I'm just like, "do people know this is happening in a completely different country?"
But hey, if people are interested in it, fine by me. XD
