I'm talking about regular (http://media.photobucket.com/image/recent/haikoru-sama/Megupoid/Gumi_1.jpg) Gumi here.

I've thought about a few different ways to get the poof in her skirt here. But I just don't know what the best way would be. I don't want to start one and then find out that a different method would have worked better xD

I'm better with pleated skirts. I've never worked with circle skirts before so I don't really get the physics of them sometimes.

Suggestions?

For my skirt, instead of gathering it, I decided to do a large number of small pleats for the yellow part and then made bigger (but fewer) pleats for the bottom white half.

On both layers, I doubled up the fabric which add some more poof.

This is what it looks like

It's actually quite poofy, without being overly so

Oh wow, that actually is fairly poofy. What kind of fabric is that? I already have mine (just basic quilter's cotton) but I'm just curious.

Looks great!

@Yukina: Thank you so much!

@Reluxa:Thank you. I used a thinner bottom weight fabric for the white part (my fabric is kinda like a cotton but stiffer and smoother), and then for the yellow part I used some sort of silk hybrid that isn't shiny or very stiff.

With cotton, you might have to pleat it a bit more than I did to make it poofy. To make mine extra poofy, I cut out a strip that was as long as I wanted but twice the width. Then I folded it in half and pleated and attached the two sides to the waist band. That way I didn't have to hem the bottom and the skirt would be a bit poofier, you know?

Good. ^^ If you have any other questions, feel free to pm me. I'm not the best Gumi cosplayer ever, but I'm always up for helping other people!
