View Full Version : What do you wish you had time for?

I am always dreaming up new things for me to do. I love my hobbies and I already don't have enough time for the ones I have. Between working full time, working out, making cosplays for myself (I have about 20 I want to do just this year) and others, going hiking/camping and baseball--I never have time for much else. I have a violin I bought myself that I still haven't touched and I oh-so-wish I had time for it. Plus, I wish I could take up ballet because I love to dance. I want to go to school for special effects. I want to learn German/Gaelic/Japanese. I even have the rosetta stone but I haven't used it! I want to make my own manga too and I have a great story idea for it!

My mind constantly conjures up these new ideas that I should do and I stupidly believe I can somehow fit them into my already tight schedule. As it is, I bring some of my excess stuff to work and do it there >.<; (yay for painting an entire length of ribbon at work!)

So what does everyone else wish they had time right now to do?

I wish I had more time for other crafty stuff outside of cosplay. Cosplay is my #1 priority since it brings me the most joy but it would be nice if I could find the time for things like attempting painting this big picture I've had in mind for a while. Making AMVs and playing video games have also taken a major back seat.

I tell myself maybe I'll take a break from costume making after my list is done, but I'm sure I'll find something else I really want to do.

I do this. All the time. Right now my mindset is, finish the three costumes I'm working on and I'll start playing violin. But then I remember that I want to do these otherr costumes soon too. And then it becomes a spiral of sadness because there isn't enough time in a day.

I know how that is. I wish I had more time to knit and crochet. I do when I can, but at times I'm busy with too much homework and stuff. I'd also love to write more, but I can never seem to write much, even though I have so many ideas floating around in my head.
Another one is READING.

I wish I had time to read a whole book, straight through, in one or two days. I hate how I never have time to anymore, and the last time I finished a book was like two weeks ago, for class, and it wasn't even a book, it was a play.

You know what they say... if you don't have time, make it XD

Read, play my bass, sew clothing other than cosplay, draw, see my friends more D: etc.

I'm always at work, school, or don't have the extra money to spend. And all my friends live 45 minutes + away anymore, so I can't just drive up anytime to see them x.x; Plus they also work, go to school, and don't have a lot of money either. So making it work is hard.

I wish I had time to....
to improve my drawings, and writing
to learn guitar, drums, ocarina :D, piccolo, french horn and the bari sax
to make more cosplays and to even learn how to sew
to study/ improve in school
to exercise and get in shape
to hang with my friends
to actually finish a book now(too busy to even try)
to participate in all the sports I REALLY want to
I wish I had time to do anthing anymore T__T

I wish I had time to do a bit more volunteer work. Not for good, generous, high-minded reasons, no: I want access to a maritime machine shop. And the chance to maintain and pilot a steamship.

I own a ukulele, a penny whistle, an electric bass, a guitar, a trombone, and a tenor sax (shared with the husband)...and not enough time to become competent on any of them.

Except maybe ukulele and penny whistle...

More time to sleep would be good. I put in my work order for 36 hour days, but the universe has not yet responded.

I guess it would be playing video games; there just isn't that many hours in the day anymore. Also i wish i had more time for hanging out with friends, but since were all in college we can only meet every once in a while

Horseback riding again (I had to stop when I was 13 and my mom moved from smack in the middle of nowhere to about a hundred kilometres away from the farm where I took lessons, AND she was such an excellent teacher and caretaker that I've found myself mostly disappointed with any other riding schools nearby...), though I'd also need a car for that, and more athletics/getting fitter. Martial arts or dance classes and the like. Though now that my work schedule is mostly mornings instead of nights, I could possibly start up again. But cosplay also drains my wallet.

Please tell me you mean 36-hour weeks. Otherwise, yeah: you definitely need more sleep! ;)

Art and writing, probably. I used to draw comics all the time when I was in school. Ignoring lessons was like my muse. :[

Same with Japanese... I learned the kyoiku kanji but it's about time I learned all the jouyou kanji. It just takes so much time and practice to remember them all, doubly so since it's independent learning.

Also I have a guitar. But instead of actually being able to play it, I just imagine myself playing it while I'm doing work. I've come up with all these acoustic remixes of songs I like in my head.

...At this moment in time I'd honestly just love to sit and watch a full length movie without worrying about things I need to work on.

And books. I miss reading books that aren't my textbooks. ;_;

Simple answer: More time to play through my backlog of games. I love me some gaming time.

More complex answer: More time to enjoy life. Since I started working full time many years ago (5~6), it seems the years have went past even faster.

All that time at work allows me money, yes, but at the same time, it consumes the only finite ressource that I really have :/

I'm reaching the 30 mark in 2012 and I'm like "Mmm, that's kina... likely half my life".

Just lay down and relax without my mind reminding me of all the things I need done so soon.

Maybe if we all do, the universe will respond and give us what we want =) Life would be so much better with days that long. Unless that increases how long you work. Then it would still suck because there still would be no time.

I forgot about gaming. I squeeze the only gaming time I have at work on my DS. But I wish I had time to play Dragon Age 2, among other things. I even want to get back into WoW but like I'd EVER have time for that.

Everything seems to go by so much faster when you have a full time job. Time just slips by. I wish I was back in middle school when I had all the time in the world and opted to...sleep. A lot. I read a lot too, but it was either reading or sleeping. I could have done so much more! I had so much potential. *tear* Ah well.

The one thing I really wish I had time for:
sleep.

Other than that, I wish I had time to do all those things I used to. School is consuming my life, and I haven't touched the only videogame I play lately since October? I also want to read again, and do....creative things.
This also sounds weird and shallow, but I wish I had time to do my makeup in the morning.
I kind of just wish I had time for a life.

Wish I had time for my costumes (commissions have priority), non costume sewing, jewelry, reading, and convention time (most of it spent on parties/prep and con table time).

Throw in staffing responsibilities (meetings, fan table time at cons, the actual con), thin apt walls and a neighbor that works nights, big can't miss events (reception in hub's hometown and sister's wedding), and job hunt/launching side business things are a bit hectic.

Think I'll spent the next few days looking at how I spend my time and see what can be rearranged/cut so I can have some time doing fun stuff.

Video games! I have gotten a few new ones, but havent even made a dent in any.
I would also like more time to do wig and prop commissions.
Also:
-More time for Clay crafts and crafts in general
-More time to practice my cooking skills X.x
-And of course sleep

It's always been reading. I'm really slow at reading, so I basically just give up on reading because I have no time.

I wish I had more time for my hobbies in general. Cosplaying and sewing especially. I have a LOT of stuff coming up in the month of May, I'm going to just barely have enough time to finish my cosplays I need for Fanime. ._. Even then, there's still a chance I might not have enough time.

Other than that, I wish I had more time to do things like reading. I used to read constantly; I'd go to the bookstore every week and come home with 3 or so books that I would finish in 3 or so days. Then I'd go back to buy more. But for the past couple years, I haven't been reading at all. I just finished a great book, (The Zombie Survival Guide) and it really made me wish I had more time to just sit and read. Alas.

I don't know if it's necessarily time for me. I do wish I had the patience/motivation to learn how to play guitar or piano though.

Like most sleep is on the top of my list.

Honestly though if I had a choice I would love more time (and money) to travel.
