Hello, white balance is something I'm still struggling with, please have a look at this sample image and offer any suggestions to improve white balance and skin tone. Any other criticism regarding the image or process is welcome as well.

Some of the steps involved to get to this image:
- raw file opened with Adobe bridge
- decrease exposure slightly
- increase fill light
- decrease saturation
- increase contrast
- in Photoshop; colour balance
- shadows; increased cyan and blue
- highlights; increased magenta and blue

My reason for the processing is to increase the range by lowering highlights, brightening midtones, bringing back contrast and reducing the yellow colour cast.

Here is a psd (3mb) for anyone interested in tweaking the image in photoshop.

Thanks in advance for any input.

This was the closest I could get it. I fix the exposure. I cropped and rotated the image so it looks a bit more level. The ceiling and the upper part of the walls were tinted green from the reflection from the light coming in so I turned down the master hue in the background. I turn up the red hue on the faces so it came out a bit more orange instead of red. Also had to turn up the red luminance a bit. Might be a little high though. I didn't bother doing the fingers so you can compare it with the original skin tone. Also fixed the red on Vash's coat.

I don't think you could do much with this picture. The natural light and the light from the flash just makes it difficult to work with.

VoidnNull, thanks for the input, so it looks like the skin does have too much magenta in my image. I think I like what you did with the red as well, its more Vash-like - Now that I look at it again it the original's shade looks more like Dante's coat. Did you mask/select portions (ie coat, skin, background) and tweaked these locally?
