I had ordered a custom wig back at the end of july for my benny from LFG cosplay. I had asked for this wig:

But in red with thicker side bangs. She accepted (paid 170$ with shipping for it :eeek: but I figured that's the price for a good quality wig that i can use for multiple cosplays)

Upon receiving the wig (2 days before fan expo 2011) I found that she curled the pony tail, crimped the side bangs, and gelled/poofed the front bangs 3 times the size they should be making me look like i had stuffed a bun under the front of the wig. Needless to say, it was a disaster. It looked NOTHING like benny's hair on me. It didn't even cover all my natural hair under a wig cap and overly bobby pinned! (And i have a rather small head and have owned many wigs, this is the first to not fit me.) The wig cap would show in the front if I pushed the hair back and would show in the back if i moved the wig further forward.

She is now telling me that she styled it right (when she didn't give me ANYTHING I asked for nor did she ask me if I wanted her to curl/crimp/poof BEFORE she went ahead and styled it whatever way she saw fit) So now I'm stuck in this horrid paypal dispute over a wig that should have been done properly in the first place.

SO please do yourselves a favour and don't get a custom wig from her unless you're sure she's going to give you EXACTLY what you asked for or just order pre-done wigs...hopefully they turn out better then her custom ones.

The prices for those wigs are just RIDICULOUS.

08-30-2011, 05:02 PM
Do you have any pictures of the wig your received?

08-30-2011, 06:19 PM
They don't even mention the quality of the wig, or the fibers or the cap they use.

That should have been a give away.

a friend of mine gets all her wigs from them... I agree the price is INSANE and I've told her that but she picks them all up in person because she can't order online and she's never had an issue...

the prices are insanity o.o
and to me the site looks a bit "iffy"
if i could even afford to buy one, i wouldn't >.>

I have gotten a wig from cosplay station before and was pleased with it, but for me I can be certain its what i want and have it fixed if its not as i live in the same city they are from.

Just orderd a new costume and wig for yaoi con and hopefully will get the same great results.

That's waaay too much for a wig that's pretty simple like that. O-o

The prices for the way those wigs look are ridiculous. The price for this (http://cosplaystation.ca/commission268.html) makes my jaw drop.

If you're still looking for a Botan wig, Arda sells a wig that would work quite well (but you'll have to tighten the ponytail since their wigs are made for large heads) http://kingdom-arts.org/Jeannie.html

Always a good thing to check the return policy first, especially when you are paying that much money on a wig. It sounds like maybe they got your order mixed up and are not willing to admit it? Photos of the wig you received and email documentation of your exchange with them are your best bet to getting a refund.

Also, this should probably be moved to the Commissioner Review forum: http://www.cosplay.com/forumdisplay.php?f=246

I shall post pictures (if i remember to take some) when i get home of the wig on the holder and on me. Then you guys can let me know if i'm being unreasonable about my complaint.

I also live in toronto. So I REALLY don't see why they couldn't just let me ship it back and send me what i asked for or at least fix the one i have that they messed up

I lost the paypal dispute, which sucks cause now i'm stuck with 170$ wig that looks stupid as hell and no way of fixing it with ruining it. You'd think that if you were making a CUSTOM wig for someone, you'd have the decency to at least ASK the person who is ordering it if they WANT you to do these weird things to it.

If I had ordered a custom t-shirt and it came to me in the wrong size or colour or the picture wasn't right or whatever, I should have a case to get my money back as it wasn't what i ordered right? It's getting impossible to return or get a refund on anything anymore because it seems paypal sides with the guys making it no matter how good a case you have against them. So they can ship me something i didn't ask for and get away with just shrugging and saying no refunds. This sucks. T_T"

I remember going to that place and picking up a wig in person because I was also last minuting for Fan Expo (though this was two years ago). I find their wigs are thick enough for general styling. Despite being painfully overpriced, the white wig I got was amazing - it's one of my favourite short white ones. (I have 4 other white wigs - none of them can compare to this one, thickness wise.)

I told her it was for a "Ragnarok Priest Cosplay", and found this bullshit (http://cosplaystation.ca/wig193.html) posted up as a new item the next day - nothing like what I had in mind, and definitely not the character I was cosplaying.

But I digress.

I feel a lot of their wigs are the strange foam-like quality, at least from appearance. From a quick glance inside their stock room, all their "heavily" styled wigs are poofy, placed in bags (the ones you'd recieve wigs in) and in plastic bins like these (http://www.chdist.com/images/products/W14-198.jpg). That sorta already made me wonder about their styled products in general.

I'm really glad I decided to style my own instead of commission her, though.

You said you live in Toronto. Have you considered giving her a call and meeting her at her house to try to solve the problem? Their mailing address written on the site is actually where they work out from, if you call her ahead of time, she should arrange a time for you to drop by.

Sorry you lost your paypal claim. It sucks, but paypal usually doesn't give a flying crap as long as the item was sent. Unless you buy off ebay, paypal rarely investigates beyond "Do you have proof of shipping? Yes? Okay we're done."

You might file a complaint with The Better Business Bureau of Canada (http://www.bbb.org/canada/). You will need pictures and a clear timeline of what's wrong, but if this is actually a tax-paying business they will send a letter asking them to work things out with you. They might just ignore it, but then at least they'll have a bad score with the BBB.

Ok so I finally have a second to sit down and took some pictures.

I have taken a side, back and front view of the wig on it's stand and the front, side, back, and front if I push the wig far back enough to cover the back of my hair on my own head.

Now can someone PLEASE let me know if I'm being unreasonable.

This is what it should look like only in red.

This is the reference i sent her as to what character I was cosplaying

I even SPECIFICALLY ASKED FOR it to be SLIGHTLY (I actually used capitals for this) poofy and if she couldn't then i wanted straight.....obviously she didn't understand SLIGHTLY.

She was going to give me 10% off for my trouble to get it restyled....I've looked at this wig very carefully. There is NO WAY that i can get it restyled without totally screwing this wig over completely. (Besides, it doesn't even fit...which makes little sense since i have a 21" diameter head:angry:)

Hmm... It does look too small on you, too puffy, and the crimping was unnessecary, but the curls in the tail seem reasonable honestly. 75%, I have to say you should win in this case.

10-13-2011, 10:59 AM
I lost the case. They sided with her.

10-13-2011, 07:08 PM
Unfortunately, with PayPal claims...as long as you get the item, that's really all they care about. They typically do side with sellers if the seller can prove the item was sent even if the item isn't exactly what you wanted. I think in PayPal's disclaimer it talks about not being able to do anything about the quality of the item. It's hard to prove to PayPal the misrepresentation of an item when it is even remotely close to the product you were supposed to receive. :(

Yea, I know, but you asked if for us to tell you if you were being unreasonable, so I did.

How could you know she lost the paypal claim?

And in no way did she ask if she was "unreasonable" she was warning against buying there.

10-14-2011, 09:56 AM
Actually I did ask if the dispute against her was also unreasonable. But i am also warning everyone to avoid using her to make your wigs as she basically does what she wants even if you explain down to the letter what you want.

10-14-2011, 04:03 PM
The price is beyond expensive for a wig like that. :/
It look horrible! I'm sorry you lost the case, you should of won.
I don't understand the crimping at all....

Alright if you did that's find, but she was still a bit late to the party.
