Alright so Ive decided that I want to make a Genderbent version of Nero (DMC4). I was hoping to have it ready by NYAF but thats not going to happen -sad face- anywho I really need a trench coat >.> Im 5'3 and Im not sure if I should go with a dark navy blue or black. Im thinking the blue but in some of the pictures of him it looks black. If anyone has an idea of where I can get said trench coat that would be wonderful. Also tips on making the leather holsters are much appreciated.

so im looking for

Where to get the coat
What color to get it in
How to go about making the holsters
Thoughts on this cosplay in general

Thanks a bunch

If you're looking to purchase, a simple google of the costume you want is usually enough to yield several results. If you're looking to custom make, then you're going to need to alter an existing pattern.

Go for dark navy. Generally the best Nero's I've seen go for a denim type material.

Holsters are actually fairly easy to make. Simply take the gun you plan to holster, place it on your material of choice and trace out a slightly larger profile of the gun up to the point that you'd like it to fit in. Flip your pattern, trace another profile, cut and sew together.

I've seen it done before and I see no issue with it. Good luck. :)

If you can get it, a deep navy blue-purple is the actual color of his coat, and best material match is, like 2D said, denim. The trouble is that the color is VERY hard to find, and probably needs to be custom dyed, hence why most Nero cosplayers use navy blue or black.

And yeah, Holsters are actually pretty easy to make, 2D gave a really good basic template for making them.
