I'm going to be cosplaying as Cagalli and I want to wear her Dress Uniform. I already have a basic idea of how to make the jacket bit of it, but I'm unsure as to what kind of fabric I should use! I want to make it look as realistic as possible (i.e. an actual military dress uniform) any suggestions would be wonderful!

Could you past a reference please? I think you're doing the same one I'm making for a friend but I can't be sure.

Representative outfit? Archangel crewman outfit?

Here's the picture. I wasn't thinking when I originally posted. I had spoken to a friend of mine that sews a lot and was told to look for thicker/stiffer fabric. After speaking with her I'm almost thinking something similar to Twill.

Twill is a good choice. That's what I've been using to make my friends cosplay. I've used a golden yellow cotton for the trim and I'm going to use shoulder pads (I lucked out and found someone that had the same shape) covered in the golden yellow cotton for the weird things at her shoulder.

Actual naval dress uniforms are made of light worsted wool.
