So, I am completely new to the world of cosplaying. I've just recently decided that I would like to try it out, and as one of my favorite characters ever, Harley Quinn!

My only problem is...I can NOT do that New York accent. I feel like even if I act 99% in character...my lack-of Brooklyn accent will ruin it. D:

What do you guys think?

And I wasn't entirely sure where to post this...so...my apologies if this is a bad spot. ;w;

It's kind of stressing me out. I dunno :lost:

O.o don't stress. No one is going to crucify you for being unable to replicate her accent. In truth, her accent is difficult to replicate if you're not Arleen Sorkin because that's almost how Arleen talks and the role was created for her. Even voice actress Tara Strong who is doing Harley's voice in Arkham City doesn't really amount to Arleen Sorkin. Sometimes you can do it, sometimes you can't. No one will be upset by it though.

Yeah, if you're dressed as Harley you will probably get a lot of people asking "can you do the voice", but no one will be upset if you can't. I've done a couple of variations of Harley, and it comes up but isn't a big deal. Some people cosplay entirely "in-character", others just like wearing the costume. It's up to you how in-depth you want to go with it. :)

Super late reply, but thanks, FontBandit! :) I'm going to practice that accent...but for some reason, I guess being from the south, I just cannot master it, lol.

trick is watch the batman animated series with her in it over and over again along with the batman video game clips.

but seriously, i think you will be fine not being able to do the voice.
