How about it? I figure thursday night or friday night would be cool, or if any place is open after the masquerade.

There's a HOOTERS near the Hyatt? How far? Haven't had a cosplayer-dinner gathering at H. since Otakon2003..

haven't thought that far ahead al. . .about hooters

and considering that was only 3 or 4 months ago, comon, you make it sound like a tradition.

but there has to be one SOMEWHERE near columbus, i mean, heck, there is a budweiser plant somewhere near!

Haha Well, I only go to Hooters at cons if the restaurant is within close walking distance. I remember AX2002 (when it was in long beach) my friends and I went to that one a couple of times, but since it's now back in Anaheim, little chance of that. But since Otakon is always in the same location, going to Hooters during that con-weekend and have cosplayers go IS a tradition. ;)

If there is a restaurant CLOSE by the Hyatt/convention center for Ohayocon, I'll consider going. But you know me, I don't like to be away from a con for eats tooo long..

one day, you and i should start a tradition. The night before the con starts, we go to a bar and have a drink, without our cosplay stuff :)

god bless no sleep at 3am

in anycase, i know what you mean, i'm not sure what is close to the hotel, i could do some more research, but it seems your the only one interested :)

I lived in Columbus for the past three years, but in KY now, sigh..anyway, the Hyatt is in the arena district downtown. There are two Hooters in the city, both about 11-12mi out. Gameworks is in Easton, right next to last years con hotel. All are really easy to get to off I-270 though. If you're just looking to have a couple of drinks and hang out the hotel is right next to the brewery district! Be glad to help out but I won't get there till Friday.

Like Dextera said, the closest Hooters and Gameworks are not close enough to walk to, that's for sure. The Hyatt is by the brewery district, but I'm not sure what's over there. The only other place I can think of is the Japanese Steakhouse which is RIGHT across the street from the hotel (so close, it's amazing), although it's a bit small. I've only been once, though.

would the Budweiser plant that i saw on my way to ohayocon last year be anywhere near there? If so, Road Trip!

I've always heard about these type of get togethers and yet never seemed to be able to attend. I'll getting there sometime Fri. early afternoon so a dinner thing Fri. night would be cool with me. It would be nice to finally attend one of these things and meet old and new faces. ^^

The Budweiser plant is in Worthington, not very close to either the old location or the new location... but of course, I don't even drive yet, so I wouldn't be able to tell you much direction wise... :eeek:

-.- There is nothing near the Hyatt. Not much is. What do you consider "walking" distance.

Brewery District is not close. Not that I'd walk there at night...in downtown Columbus. Hooters is no where near and the only Gameworks is not close either.

What type of place you want to go to.

There's a couple bars and restaurants by the hotel. The Arena District is nearby, but I'm not sure if everything there is open all of the time (not just when there's an event in the arena).

I would love to come. ^^ I'll need to bum a ride with someone tho. Sounds fun! If it's too expensive maybe I'll just have water or something. *shrugs*

i'm still currently researching places to eat and stuffs. I have a friend who is telling me just get a carpool to easton. where the con was last year.

Also, if anyone is interested, PM me and we can get a list going. I know that I'm driving there so i can at least take a few people

o_O I'm pretty there's this cool open-air market type thing about 2 minutes away. We ate there when we went down to Columbus to go see Cirque Du Soliel's Dralion. They've got a sushi bar and whatnot, as well as a 60s style dinner upstairs, and some places to eat on the porch out front. Hm...I could be thinking of the wrong Hyatt though..x_X I get confused like that sometimes.

The market you're thinking of is the North Market, which is about a block away from the Hyatt. It has a bunch of international restaurants and shops and a few Japanese ones (which is probably where we'll be getting Pocky and such since the hotel isn't letting any of the dealers sell it). They have pretty good prices and are right around the corner from the steakhouse and Yankee Traders. Yankee Traders by the way is where I asume everyone will be running to do last minute costumes. They have so many odd wigs and costume stuffs and it's right near the hotel, so if you need anything last minute, you should check it out. It's pretty reasonably priced, too. Sorry, I know it's kinda off-topic, but I just wanted to let everyone know. That's where I always get my wigs.

Okay I am lending 2(maybe 3) cars for the carpool. So please everyone go!

Easton is not too far. And there is a lot to do there. Gameworks, The Shark Club(bowling alley/bar/dance club), I can think of at least 3 Japanese Steak Houses, 4 Sushi places, and a ton of great resturants.

okay

Here is the plan ladies and gentelmen.

I don't see a program schedule, and it's looking like that i won't be there as early on thursday as i had planned on. (class till 5, 6 hour trip to columbus, you get the picture)

So, as of right now, Friday at 7pm is looking to be the designated time. I don't think too much is going on.

I would like to go to Gameworks @ Easton, and maybe someplace else for dinner. I will cosplay if others are going to be.

Contact is going to work like this, you'll see me walking around in my Misaki-chii costume on Friday, and if not, stop by the Artist Alley, because I'll be staffing there until 6pm.

I do want to be back in time for the Cosplay.com table gathering that night, *stares at EuroBeatKing for help here*. But just plan to meet somewhere near the artist alley around 6ish. Come hang out with me!

ADDRL: W., have fun with your Gameworks trip and I hope you and whoever goes with you has fun, but keep warm if it IS snowing out there.. brrrrrr! As for the table gathering, I'm not sure what time I'll be starting it, but I'm guessing after 9pm or as late as 10pm. As for WHERE, well, I'll be scoping out a place during the day on Friday, and so just look around for it when you return, or just listen for the Eurobeat.. :skidude2:

See you all there in 5 days!!

i'm bringing my laptop and Super Eurobeat 140 :)

ADDRL: I'll be bringing that volume too, all 3 discs (I chose the version that has the Initial D: Special Stage non-stop remix music CD over the DVD-version which shows Japanese racers drifting their cars) My most recent CD's I'll be bringing will be the Best of 2003 collection, volume 143, and also some Eurobeat Christmas CD's juuuust in case there's still snow out there.. ;)
Nothing like playing some appropriate music since it's still winter and some of us might still be in the holiday mood, ne?

Gameworks? Sounds cool, I was just there last night. They have two DDR machines for those who don't know, DDR extreme and DDR USA, as well as pool tables, mass dining space and decent food, plus tons of racing games, a Virtua arena(kinda dumb but fun to try anyway...(the left side isn't very responsive so I ended up just kicking the real life player, A.K.A my boyfriend.), shooting games, and tons of TVs showing football games. Great idea! I'll prolly go in costume as well, but I'm bringing an extra set of clothes due to the dress code, it of course doesn't say anything about costumes, but they do refuse the right to serve anyone due to dress code, and if they'll kick people out for having really big pants, I kinda have to wonder if they'll let you wear certain costumes. Anyway, since a lot of out of towners will have never even heard of Gameworks, heres the rules for the place.
