View Full Version : Advice on smaller curves?

I have a question about curves for a more petite character. This is my first try cosplaying (& crossplaying!), but I want to get the look right. ^^; I can accept practical effect over accuracy (since anime is by nature anatomically demanding, and often impossible), but I wanted to get as close as I could to the right ďlookĒ.

Iím building a cosplay for Piroko of MegaTokyo webcomic /manga doujinshi ( http://www.megatokyo.com ).

I know this is kind of an odd question, but I want to get my curves proportionally correct for Piroko. I stand about 6í 3Ē, and thankfully skinny. Unfortunately for my crossplaying, I have the typical ďbroad shoulders & no-hipsĒ look.

Adding the curves isnít the problem, thanks to the amazing threads on curves for guys. Iíve had a chance to test the chest padding out for another more endowed character, and it works beautifully. ^.^

What my concern is about is how much chest to add. ^^; Piroko is noticeably smaller than your typical anime girl, but still has something. I donít want to go too little since there is something there and it helps the immediate feminine illusion, but too big would totally ruin the look. So I guess what I need is some advice on what size to shoot for with a taller frame. Since I stand about half a foot taller than her, I wanted to try to make the costume proportional. I plan on just stuffing a bra, but I have no idea what size would fit proportionally with the characters look. I have about a 34-36 inch chest, and have use a c-cup without looking like Iím bragging, but Iím afraid thatís way too much for this character. ^^;;

Can anyone offer advice? I'm afraid I'm still pretty naive on bra sizing, and getting the right effect for the taller body type. Any thoughts or advice would be really appreciated. ^_^

Once I figure the top out, then itís on to how to cinch my waist and pad my hips.. o.O;; Its amazing how a few inches will change a whole costume. ^^;

There is something working against you: she doesn't wear a very feminine outfit. So you should try to add feminine touches wherever you can. For stuffing the chest I'd start with a B and let the mirror guide you up and down.

Keep us posted and feel free to ask whenever you need.

B cup would be a natural size for a girl you're height. I'm just a wee bit shorter, and a B cup looked natural on me. Go for that size and you should be fine. :)

My suggestion(assuming you are skinny) is a 34 to 38 C for your height.

Im 6'1" & a 36C looks natural on me.

you also gave me the idea to cosplay a character from megatokyo. thanks ^_^

Thanks very much for the advice! Iíll try a b-cup and work up or down from there. I guess from there its just practice, and trying to figure out how much hip I need for the right look, nea.

LunarYoma, I'm happy to hear I planted an idea. MegaTokyo is little known, but lots of fun. We have a discussion thread under "Other Costumes" you may want to chime in on. ^_^
