I am so tempted to do this. I was thinking of getting a blonde wig, official Sanrio pink HK bow, a cute pink dress and matching shoes, and doing my make-up in a very cutesy way. This will be my first cosplay, mostly because it seems very easy xD
What do you all think, for a starter?
(Could also be posted in Original Cosplay... but idk)

It might work. Make sure that besides the bow, you do things that will point to it being Hello Kitty and it would be really cute. Maybe a little white tail like she has, and some white kitty ear would add to the look. As for the wig, I would go with a white one instead of blonde, just to keep with Kitty's coloring.

Aww, such a cute idea!
I agree that you should go with a white wig as opposed to blonde. I cosplay as Luna from Sailor Moon in her cat form, and I went with a black wig to keep with her fur color. I also do Ryo-ohki from Tenchi Muyo! but rather than bother with a wig, I have a hat with cabbit ears. Maybe you could do a Hello Kitty hat with white cat ears?
Whatever you do, I'm sure it will be adorable!

Oooh good idea! Now that I think about it, white would be cooler and more true to the idea. :) I'm currently looking for other HK themed stuff I could perhaps use... Hmm. :) Thanks for the ideas <3 I will post with any more ideas and updates too if you are interested. :3

I'd love to see how it comes out!! I myself am thinking about doing a Chococat cosplay one of these days, but I'm probably gonna go for the full mascot idea. But maybe I'll end up doing what you're doing, so definitely keep it updated!

You can actually find quite a bit of Hello Kitty printed fabric, so you could always make little things for the costume with that. It would be kind of cute to see a skirt or waist cincher or something made in a Hello Kitty print, especially a poofy lolita skirt or something.

I would love to do the skirt, I am going to look into patterns soon and see what I can do. :)

Suprisingly, I've never seen anyone do this before but it sounds like a wonderfully cute idea!! :D I'd say to go for it.
I'd say the more Hello Kitty accessories, the better. Maybe you could carry around a plush too?

I have done this before to a Halloween Party. But since it was a party, there's no decent picture of it lol *drunken kitty!*

very cute idea. If I am not mistaken Hello Kitty is a Japanese bobtail so you don't really need to worry to much about a tail. What you could do is safety pin a large cotton ball to your back if you still want to have a tail. It's your cosplay so have fun with it^_^

If you want to do a lolita-style skirt, you can always search for tutorials on how to make a circle skirt. They require no patterns, just a little math and sewing. They are pretty easy to make actually.

When this thread was first started, it gave me an idea to do corsets (I love making them and they are becoming a signature for me) and matching mini top hats with Hello Kitty themes. Well, I've finished the first one that I gave to a friend for her birthday and I will make a matching mini top hat to go with it. I'm planning to sell them hopefully, but I thought I would share what the first (http://www.cosplay.com/photo/3143234/) one turned out like. Maybe it will give someone some inspiration.
