View Full Version : Review: Count Aka/Aka Cosplay

I know this is supposed to be threads based on personal experience but I've offered to go about placing this review here for her since she doesn't have an account here and doesn't live in the states to attend many cons to really use cosplay.com for planning. Now for this, I've yet to commission from this person myself but I have seen his work before. It looks pretty decent and well crafted so my friend made a commission to Count Aka/Aka cosplay. She ordered to have commissioned Pinkie Pie's Gala Dress like so:

She paid $300 for this commission plus $60 expedited shipping for it to get here by Katsucon 2012. This was the final product before shipment:

But then complications happened. It was apparently caught up in customs at NY for a good few days, missing the expedited 3-5 day deadline, and when it finally arrived to the address given, she was already on her way to Katsucon by flight. When she returned home to finally receive the package and see if the $360 was worth the commission, she gotten this instead:

It definitely isn't anything like the picture given. Cause of how ruined it is, she can't even get around to altering it to fit her properly cause the stitching is falling apart so badly and not even properly maintained to be altered. She have given the measurements three times to Aka, the address to the military base where she was stationed as it should have been written and had high hopes that the dress would turn out as it showed in the pictures he sent before shipping. But it didn't and now she is highly disappointed that her commission turned out like this.

I can't very well say to not commission from this person but I do advise to be wary about it and make sure that everything is written clearly to Aka so that mistakes like this won't happen to others.

Final Grade: D-

Wow, I'm really sorry that your friend had to deal with that. D: I would be so upset.

I would like to Quote from www.fb.com/aka.cosplay :

Post from 08.02.12 :

I am sure that it is high time to place a disclaimer about last days charges which appeared there and on cosplay.com.

I want to point out that i do not aprrove sloving cases in public - but i have to addopt to the situation.

At first i want to say thanks for cosplay community for your support.
Informations and words i have recived was very very helpful and they rised my spirits.

I think simple proof would finish all of this ridiculous slanders.
Becouse it was caused by some misunderstanding i would start with a little description of situation (and how i understand it):
(Package = package wthich contains commissioned costume)

Package destination is not exactly in US , but on one of US institution over the world. Delivering to right place on the world is one of the USPS function.
Yesterday it have reached USPS post - JAMAICA.

The customer and her friends have slandered me calling "lair" or "thief" and much more abuses. They ataccked me there and on cosplay.com it the same time when i was helpilng with this post problem via email.
(I have to clean page from more than 60 comments made only by 4 or 5 conetcted peoples!)
It was caused becouse package stoped in Jamica.

The "missing" package is on the way to customer. As a proof i am sharing a USPS package status:
<for the customer seciurity tracking is blured>
As i understand the USPS informations, Jamaica post institution it is a place from which package will be send to customer place.

I wish some other people would learn something form this case.
I also wish no more commissioners would take orders from people like this.

Package was delivered 14.02.12 (I have USPS proof of delivery)

And opened by customer paypal case (because of delivery) was not closed until 29.02.12

On 29.02.12 Jessica A. (customer, unfortunetly without cosplay.com account)
- changed reason of paypal case ("not compatible with description")
- Sent me messages about problems with costume.

I would like to quote there mail ( 31.01.12 - mail with tracking for package and final informations about costume)

At first please iron the costume. Do not use high-heat of your iron becouse in decorations was used kind of glue and hihgh-temperature would let parts move (cakes and lolipops!!!).
Some parts of costume are made with cuting and strengthening edges - sometimes snippets apears on this edges - please do not be worried! Just cut them of as near the edge as possible!
If you with costume or someting do not arrange/lie/<something elese > like it should - please contact me ;) I know lot of tips how to fit costume perfectly of not-complicated reasons why something do not look like it should.

I would like to just add there pictures which i have sent to Jessica A. to solve her problems with costume.

+ informations we shared in emails

Jessica has never responded.
PayPal case was closed in favor of me.

I would also point out that Jessica A. (cutomer) was always communicative, unfortunetly actions made by people not involved in have made this communication very uneasy. I can not say anything bad about Jessica A.

I have received a lot of slanders/threats without a reason, even other of my customers was attacked by Jessica's "friends" (?).

I think that it is beneath the dignity.

And i take it as the end of this madness, and will never back to it once again.

Ok, fine. That's all well and good that you tried to help the situation and I know others getting on your case made it bad but as stated, the outfit suffered delays getting to its destination even with expedited shipping and it came out to look like how it was received. If she can get it fixed, she will but at this point, the outfit getting late to the con she needed it for and being in such a wreck compared to the pictures that you yourself took and posted, its pretty much a done deal. No outfit and no refund.

And your customers that has had good service from you isn't free of the slanders list either since they too slandered a country of people overall in retaliation for the posts from the others. And seeing as this is a review thread and not a debate thread over who is responsible for what during the entire case of the Pinkie Pie gala dress, any further questioning of your commission work is left between you and future customers and not through here.

I would not disscus any review - i respect a freedom of customers to share their opinions. It is very important for keep safety of commissions.
There - the OP message is not form customer, but (i belive) form one of the people who take responsibility for slanders.

I have not recived any more contact form customer so i belive taht everything is fine right now.

I have posted comment there becouse i hope this people would understand that their acctions are pointless and it would be the end of this madness.

I am not going to take a part in this disscussion again.

Sorry but I didn't participate raiding your page so don't assume that just because I posted this, I was one of those people. I said I did this for the friend [who would rather have been kept anon but you ruin that base already]. If I was as bad as you assumed, the review would've been worse and you would have an F.

So next time, take into consideration that not everyone is out for your head from one bad experience.
