Myself and several of my friends are going to Collectormania dressed as X-Men with me (rather idiotically as she's one of the hardest!) picking Rogue. Now I've run up against a brick wall as far as her catsuit goes. Any suggestions for either making it from scratch or anywhere (UK preferably!) that I could buy a yellow or green catsuit to sew on top of?

Danke!

How much sewing experience do you have? I've been told that making bodysuits is one of the hardest things to do, ever.

What I'd suggest is picking a different costume of hers - maybe the green one with white trim she wore for a while during the late 90s. That's just some leggings and a jacket.

If you HAVE to do the green and yellow suit o' doom, I'd suggest either getting it commissioned, or buying a dancewear body suit and airbrushing or painting the colors on. I'm not certain how to go about that, exactly, but it's an idea that's floated around in my head, since I, too, hope to someday make that particular costume. At the moment I'm shooting for just having an awsome wig and wearing some jean shorts and a white shit. Heh.

I'm making "old school" Rogue this year as well... my plan is to buy a shiny lycra bodysuit, dye it green, and then sew on the yellow parts in probably a thicker material and buy a similar jacket and edit it on the collar. but definitely start with the green suit because you'll need the same yellow material to make the gloves and boots and the yellow part of the suit is only in the middle of the body and much easier to add on.

Unfortunately I have t'do this one. My friends and I are doing the Animated Series X-Men and I'll screw up the group dynamic if I change the costume.

MY sewing experience is in the Intermidiate catergory unfortunately. I've done quite a few costumes before but they tend to get finished more out of dogged determination that any real skill with a needle on my part.

I may use your last suggestion, about airbrushing on the yellow. Now all I need is to find the frickin' catsuit....

Cool! That was kinda my plan as well...finding anything to sew on top of from where I live (arse end of nowhere aka Wales) is impossible! Any idea where might sell that kind of thing?

eBay and online fabric stores offer every material you can imagine.

As a disclaimer, I've never actually used these sites... but I have links to them anyway, which more than likely means someone mentioned them here on the cosplay.com forums...

try "bodysuits" or "unitards" on each site.

Thank you so much! I found one I think I'm going to order from the second one :)
