View Full Version : Mockingbird?

I haven't decided for sure yet if which version I'm doing of Mockingbird for 2013.

I'm a bit torn between her classic:

And modern:

If I do her classic, I have a few questions on how to go about making the costume:

1. Do I go with actual yellow for color for her wig or go with more of a natural blonde?
2. How do I go about making or finding her boots? It almost looks like the cuffs of the boots belong on the pants themselves, much like how Cap's original ones do.
3. What material do you recommend for this costume?
4. Does anyone have a pattern that they can share that would be a good pattern to base this costume off of?
5. Any ideas how I go about making her weapon?

If I do her modern, I just really have one major question:

1. Where do I find her glasses or how do I go about making them?

I'm in the process of helping a fellow costumer put a modern Mockingbird together, so you may consider a few of these ideas;

The vintage look is a bit dated and may not get the attention you may/may not want for the costume, plus without a Hawkeye partner with you, folks (not the die hards;))may not know who you are. Also it's a bit revealing so any poses/acrobatics you may do for photos may be a bit challenging...But if you can pull it off more power to you!
You should be able to find the style boot by looking for ladies pirate boots, you may have to do some creative recoloring. The staff should be easy enough to create with a couple of dowel rods or PVC piping if you want go on the cheap. More expensive pieces that will last and are con friendly could be done with some poured urethane and some threaded rod.

For the modern version the glasses or those that are very close are available on eBay.

Thanks for the reply. Any suggestions on what I should be searching for on ebay for the glasses?
