View Full Version : Some help on a 'Link-ish' tunic pattern

My costume calls for a tunic that resembles that of Link from the zelda game series. (which I'm sure you're all familiar with) I have done some searching and found two that seem right.

#1. http://www.ad500.org.uk/vicus/documents/tunicpattern.htm
#2. http://www.markland.org/tunic.php

I'm not so sure on tunic number 2, but I don't know.

The first one seems very informative. But I was wondering how I would go about doing the math for changing the height/width and whatnot on the tunics.

I'm getting my paycheck early this month (28th) So I should be able to start buying some fabric this weekend. Any ideas on the fabric? cotton? Don't want anything too heavy due to the fact that it will be summer....in a crowded place...

I would definitely go with cotton. It's cheap, easy to sew with, and won't make you drown in sweat during summer cons.

As for how to make the alterations... I'd give you some advice, but I'd have absolutely no idea what I was talking about, resulting in the likely ruin of your costume. Oo; I would, however, suggest the "Roman" variation of the first tunic (which appears to be much easier and more cost-efficient), since Link's tunic is a bit baggy up top to begin with, and it'll make altering the pattern that much easier for you. :D

That's a really nice Link costume, and the reference picture illustrates the top of Link's tunic rather nicely. ^_^

Good luck to you! :D

First off I'd like to congradulate you for living in Jersey and surviving this far.

Second.. hmm alterations... I can't remember much from what my aunt told me, so sorry I'm not much of a help there. I imagine if you needed to take in, just pin the area and re-sew.. if you need more, theeeenn.. i guess you would have to adjust the pattern sizes..

anyway, another good Link cosplayer- http://www.pikminlink.com/

Like kitten said, cotton rocks.

Good luck! ^^

a cross between a short sleeved viking tunic and the collar of a pirate shirt might work :)
