View Full Version : smooth finish?

Those of you cosplayers who wear body makeup or j-rock makeup-- how do you get a smooth finish when you're putting it on? Last time I used white body/face makeup, I really wasn't pleased with the kind of splotchy results. Granted, I only had about ten minutes to put it on since I was running late for the masquerade, but even with a decent-quality makeup sponge, I just wasn't happy with the kind of streaky look I got. Should I put a layer of powder underneath, or maybe use regular makeup or concealer on my face to make sure my base skintone is even?

When I had the white face makeup, I added some white baby powder on. It just evens out by itself afterwards and makes the colors even. I'm not sure if this will work on everyone though... it just worked for me plus it makes the white facepaint a little more whiter. ^___^

The key is in the aplication. For Carmila (See my avitar) I patted the make up on with a sponge. That's the key to applying foundation of any sort. Pat it don't smear it. If you pat it it goes on cleaner and more evenly. Quality of sponge is only minorly important. With the patting tecnique I have apllied make up with a cleaning sponge.( No kidding. I ain't lying to ya. Long story.) White setting powder or even translucent powder will help to even thing out as Darkenedxstar said. Also remember that old line about how to get to Carnigy Hall: Practice practice practice. If you don't practice you won't learn. I usualy set up a time to practice any makeup for a cosplay I'm doing before I'm actualy going to do it. That way I can rule out what doesen't work and trouble shoot before I do it for real. It also helps me to familerise myself with the products I'm using. It's best to go i with a game plan than to fly blind.
