Thought I should go ahead and get this thread started since we already have the Cosplay.com Picnic up now.

This is the first official planned shoot for NE_COSP this year, unless we throw together something sooner, but with the Picnic, I don't see it necessary.

Date: July 17th (raindate July 18th)
Theme: ORIGINAL Fairies, Fay, Faeries (However you spell it), Sprites, Stuff like that with wings.
Where: Boston Botanical Gardens (Across from the Common)
Time: TBA
To attend: RSVP only! Non NE_COSP members are allowed, but you gotta let me know!

Photographers present: Maboroshi from Risingsun.net, and Studmaster from Cosplay.com.

This is a strictly themed photoshoot! I don't want any anime characters at all, and this INCLUDES TINKERBELL! All original designs only. So don't ask questions asking if I'll let something slide. A schoolgirl fuku with wings is not an original fairy...Neither is Chii with a new outfit and wings. A Chii wearing anything else is still a damn Chii. NO EXCEPTIONS!

We are all creative people who can sew, and use a pattern or even draft our own. Simplicity makes a rather generic fairy costume pattern if you don't have anything to work from.

Wings aren't mandatory but greatly encouraged. Again, try to make your own. Wings from Hot Topic or Spencer Gifts are out of the question unless you give them your own personal touch. For ideas, you can visit faeriegrove.com, but I don't expect you to purchase wings from Meg for this shoot unless you have an incredible budget or totally fall in love with her work. Granted I'm totally in love with her work, but right now, I can't afford a pair of her creations. One day I will. *_*

What kind of fairy can you be? ANY KIND out of any material! Fairies represent everything from light and dark, good and evil, the 4 seasons, the elements, pretty much everything imaginable. You can even have a lolita fairy, but make sure you'll be comfortable in the heat of July, and that you look more Fay-like than lolita.
No, you cannot be random Anime Fairy #112, or the Fairy of Anime just so you can wear a schoolgirl costume or something else laying around. There is more than enough time to work with this (FOUR MONTHS, that's a 3rd of a year!), so no excuses...Please. ^^

Also, depending on how many people I have RSVP for the shoot, there will be a donation of about $20 required so we can afford to have Maboroshi flown up from Tampa. He's more than happy to come up, but just like the rest of us, he does have bills to pay.

I'll be making a site for this on the NE_COSP page which I will update over time with when I open for reservations and put up the page for donations, as well as who is attending.

If you have any other questions, email me at muchitsujo@cox.net, or reply to this post. Thanks! And hope to see you there!

I hoping beyond all hope that I will be able to go to this. Got to check to see when I have to leave for Savannah to go to My SCAD week program :japan:

Would it start in the morning sometime or the afternoon?

Cheers

Yeah, probably 10am-ish. The earlier it starts, the better for most photoshoots. Plus that way we can beat the heat if it gets too bad. We were lucky at the Providence shoot in dead August last year...Then it rained. Good thing we were finished by that time.

I'd definately love to come to this (since I first heard word of this). I'm not sure if that's the weekend for my jazz workshop, but if it's not I'll definately come...in my Kira from Dark Crystal costume <33 Gelflings -must- be related to faeries somehow *ponders*

That's cool Anna, I had a shoot on my birthday last year.

Just remember that all costumes must be original guys...*pokes Kaede*

I've got a corset idea that is probably going to end up with me throwing stuff across the house within fits of rage and profanity, but I'm going to do it anyway.

I'm only 13, can I still come be a fairy? I am a cosplayer....and I make my own costumes, but sometimes age freaks people out....is this one of those times?

I don't have an age limit *yet*, but usually it's 16 and up. I do this to help maintain order at events like this. I find that the younger the group, the harder it is to control, plus because of the time frame the shoot takes place. I don't want to be responsible for kids being out after dark and breaking a curfew, plus I'm a terrible babysitter to boot.

No offense to you because I can already tell by your typing skills that you're more mature than some. So I may just make it a requirement to see some costume work first before judging the age of the person.

Ok, here's the deal...I'm opening for RSVPs for the shoot now, and I'm setting the deadline to be May 30th. So you have a good month to think about this.

There is no age limit for this shoot, however, if you are below the age of 16 I ask that you show me some good pictures of your costumes and I'll give you the yay or nay in regards to you attending.

The donation amount toward Maboroshi's plane tickets and accomodations will be determined by the amount of people who RSVP. The more the merrier, AND you will get your pictures plastered on Risingsun.net, one of the premier cosplay sites on the internet. Please visit if you haven't already.

I'm moving the NE_COSP site to my new server tonight (later tonight, it takes time...), so expect the domain to be down for a few days until the DNS catches up, in the meantime, you can visit the site at http://kaousuu.net/ne_cosp . I'll post the link to the actual photoshoot's site when I get it finished.

I'd love to come! I actually was a fairy for halloween last year, so I already have a fairy costume... I can probably make it even prettier for this photoshoot. If i can make wings, I will definetly try to come!!! ^_^

I forgot to mention, that if you are planning to RSVP, please email me directly at muchitsujo@cox.net, give me your name/alias and email. Unless you have a specific type of fairy you are doing, don't worry about telling me that.

Thanks!

This is just a reminder that the RSVP cut-off date is this Sunday, May 30th. As of right now, these are the people that are on the list:

Ang
Lialia
Koumori
Ben
Studmaster (?)
Ender
Mike
Kaede (I thought I got one from you, I may have deleted it. Please let me know for sure!)
Christa (tentative until further notice)
Ametenshi
Cocoa
Erica

That's a full dozen people, so I figure $25 a piece can get Maboroshi here, and help pay for transportation to and from Boston from Providence, unless there is someone in the Boston area who would like to play host for our photographer. (Flying into Logan could be a lot cheaper than T.F. Green.) Also, with Ben's father being ill and his grandmother visiting from Puerto Rico, we can't guarantee him a place to stay with him, and I would never bestow upon Mabs the torture of being with my family in Narragansett. So if there is any volunteer(s), please let me know!

I capped the shoot at 14 participants. Sorry, if we have anymore than that, the day will be incredibly long, and not everyone will have an equal chance at photos.

Here is the FINAL list:
Ang
Lialia
Koumori
Ben
Studmaster
Ender
Jamie
Mike
Kaede
Loli-Chan
Ametenshi
Cocoa
Erica
Dewy

The donation amount will be $25 each (more is always welcome if you can spare), and I will put the site up for that soon.

I have the page to pay your donation for the shoot with Paypal up at http://kaousuu.net/ne_cosp/donation.htm

If you don't have Paypal, my address is also on the page to send me a money order.Of course if anyone wants to donate a little more than that, the are welcome to, but I think you will have to send it directly to my Paypal address at muchitsujo@cox.net since I have the button set for $25.

The deadline for payment will be June 27th, so that's a little under a month to get it to me.

This is be cross-posted on the NE_COSP mailing list.

Later!

Today is the deadline for the fairy shoot payment, and as of right now (9:30am) I have received payments from four people, not including myself: Ametenshi and Lolichan by Postal Money Order, and Koumori and Cocoa by Paypal.

I partially blame the fact that people aren't jumping to pay me for this simply because I used the word 'donation.' It's like going in the Metropolitan Museum of Art kids, there's a REQUIRED donation of $12 at the door, it's technically not free to get in. But, by using the word 'donation', they don't have to get taxed and it saves themselves a lot of red tape.

The same thing here, I plainly said about 3 months ago when I first posted about this shoot that I would need everyone to donate about $25 if Maboroshi were to fly up here like he did last year for the shoot in August. The man isn't rich, and we are basically paying for his airfare from Tampa ($200), train fare to Boston ($26) and any kind of subway tokens or food in between. It's not like I'm pocketing the money. I'm too much of a sickly honest person to do that.

If anyone has been trying to reach me regarding this matter, I believe that Ben posted that my internet is down at home, and will be for another week probably. Also, my mailbox was smashed this past week as well (It's been a loooooooong week) so I'm sure that my mail is a bit backed up, plus we moved the mailbox to a cluster of other ones down the street a bit so our's won't stand lonely on the corner anymore like baseball bat and curb-check bait. So as soon as the letter carrier figures this out, I'll get caught up, so if anyone else sent me a money order, I'll probably get it in tomorrow or Tuesday. (Massachusetts ain't that far away.)

I posted my phone numbers on the NE_COSP list, so if anyone needs to contact me, go there to get them. I don't know when the net at home will be up again.

I'm going to extend the deadline to the 3rd, which is next Saturday, but if I don't get in everyone's payment by then, I'll refund everyone else's money and tell Maboroshi not to worry about it. I know that a lot of people are planning to go just for him, so I may cancel the event all together and reschedule for August. I know it wouldn't hurt on my end, I have enough costume work ahead of me for Otakon since I'm not getting an art table.

Actually, I had an art professor in college who used to give the Met a quarter if he was only going in to see one painting.

Maboroshi is still very interested in coming up for this shoot, as a matter of fact he put the weekend (July 17th and 18th)aside just for it. This weekend he is in Miami for YasumiCon, and next weekend is Metrocon in Tampa, so he's got a full pallette it seems this month.

Just remember that tomorrow is the last day for all Paypal payments, and if you send it by money order or cash to my house, PLEASE let me know so I can expect it.
