I think you make a very nice Lulu.
Did you use real fur for the trim?
Are you going to make some hairsticks too?

the fur is fake, hair sticks are made, i just didn't feel like putting them on, but there is a good pic of them in my gallery, and thank you for the compliment.

I'm sorry, but would you mind posting reference pictures, simply because i don't remember exactly how the back looks, and other little details. As memory serves things are looking pretty spot on, very impressive. The outfit has some pretty difficult elements to tackle, many people i know would not be comfortable with facing those elements. i think you are doing great though, very very good!

Once you add the lace and belts, I think it'll look just fine ^_^

My advice?
SMILE! Cause you've got a wonderful costume there!

There are a few things I'd improve--first, is the back supposed to gape like that? It looks kind of unfinished and messy. Perhaps you could make sure the skirt attaches to the top or something to avoid that gap there.

Also, the top could use some boning to make it more smooth and sleek looking--it's a bit wrinkly. Judging from the official art, Lulu is really wearing a corset, and corsets need some kind of support. You can get plastic boning, or steel if you want more support. Either way it would help reduce the wrinkling that's happening at the sides. It would especially help at the back lacing area. ^_^

I think it looks great. I would venture to guess that perhaps the reason you're unhappy with it is because of your choice of fabrics. The drape just isn't quite right. But that's nothing big. I would also second the comment about the boning in the top. It'll smooth out the wrinkles in the front and make it look a lot neater. You can buy plastic zip ties out at the hardware store and cut off the little locking part and use those for boning quite successfully. Though depending on how much support you are going for you may need to use more than one in each spot but it's still relatively cheap. All in all still a great Lulu.

I would suggest you make the skirt attach to the back of the corset somehow, it doesn't have that gap in the artwork. Also, the big flat beads on the third necklace are supposed to be purple, not light blue. Other than that nit-picky stuff, I think it looks great ^_^. I can't wait to see the finished product!

Thankyou all, I suppose i should say, my corset, does have boning, the plastic kind. the purple beads are purple, my camera is just really pathetic. Lulu does have a dip in the back of her skirt, but most people ignore it, and i suppose now i know why.

The "triangular hole" in the back of the skirt does belong there (it's in the artwork and the official 11" figure (looks at pretty figure) ). However, I don't like the fact the skirt is sitting so low compared to the corset.

I also agree with Sarcasm-Hime that you should look into adding some boning to the corset. In all the official pics Lulu looks sleek and smooth and that's hard to pull off without some boning. Whether you want to add plastic or steel bones is up to you, but I think it would help with the silhouette of the dress.

I like the texture of the fur you used, although I'm not crazy about the color. It's a bit too dark gray.

I'm being really picky - overall it's a nice costume. It'll be lovely once you get the sleeves and skirt painted/lace appliqued and the belts added.

I really like your necklace and earrings they're very accurate to Lulus. I don't really like the pleathery kind of look to the fabric but I think once you add your belts (as others said) it'll really add on to it and it'll look fine. (Oh and the floral like designs too)

The costume is pretty alright. Now all that's missing is your smile.

Very good Lulu! Like others said, I think the shirt should attach to the skirt more in the back...the dip is there but I don't think her skin shows between the skirt and shirt. Safety pinning it down should help keep the shirt down, just safety pin from the inside and no one can tell they're there. That's what I do with two peice dance costumes so the the shirts don't ride up and it works fine.

it does show her skin in the back, that is what makes this abve all of the other costumes i've seen more thought out. not even mine has that...yet.

Finally got some good picutures of my lace and my belts. well, decent pictures, since i didn't want to put on the costume. It just takes far too long. So, here is the first bit of lace that i've painted. I got all the appiques off of ebay and have been painting and stiching them on completely by hand. I just hope i finish in time for otakon!

oh, in the first picture, dont mind the belt going over the lace, when i'm through it will velcro down.

Great job! That's a very good Lulu. Once you add the finishing touches (lace, belt, makeup, etc) it'll be great.

I'd put some hooks'n eyes in to attach the skirt to the corset. But other than that, your costume looks great-- Lulu is such a hard costume to tackle!
