I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I like the rain and stormy weather.

Don't worry too much about it, we'll be inside of the hotel most of the time. (or at least I will)

See you in 8 days YU-Yu Ri Pa-Na ^^

Well, that rain thing worries me because our group is driving to ACEN. I'll have to check the weather out myself, but I usually notice that bad weather prognosticated so far in advance is usually delayed by a day or so. That would mean it might rain or storm until the Saturday or Sunday. Still, I'd rather it not storm or rain too hard >.<

Well, it's 8 days away. You can never really tell exactly what the weather will be up to at this point. Sometimes forcasts can be off a little here and there. ^^ At least they are in Ohio anyway.

A little? Take it from a weather geek. Forecasts are not reliable more than 5 days in advance. Weather patterns can change a lot from the time the computers crunch the data.

hell, the weather forecast I got last NIGHT was different from what it was this morning when I woke up. They promised me severe storms, dammit, where are they?! :)

So don't worry. People who are driving, like me, make sure you catch the forecasts as detailed as possible 1 to 2 days out, so you know what to expect. Just think of it this way: at least it's not snow.

I mean, coming from the weather men around here who have been completely wrong 75% of the time, I'm sure the weather will be nice. Every year I've gone it's been really nice out or just slightly cloudy. So until Thursday night, I wouldn't believe what the forcast is said to be hun.

Ok....this is Chicago. Here, it's either 85 degrees or negative 85 degrees. The weather here changes sooooo often, I mean, today it was 87 and tomorrow its supposed to be 52. And the fact that its 8 days away~ I wouldn't worry about it. I just hope it doesn't rain on Saturday~the other days I'm kinda indifferent.

Hopefuly The weather will change. As long as it doesn't affect my flight I wouldn't mind, but I have to walk from the train station to the hotel with all of my crap >_<

A part of me hopes it doesnt rain during the day or at all but a part of me wants it to rain so i can do my Saito set up against the rain so it would be similar to the 2nd ending animation from Kenshin "It's gonna rain". I hope for everyone that is walking it stays nice during the day and only rains at late at night so noyone gets wet that would be sad =(

I've been to every Acen since it began and come to think about it, I've noticed almost every year it is either rainy, cloudy and/or unseasonably cool on the weekend of Acen! :eeek:

I remember in 2000, the Friday of the con started out beautiful! Sunny, in the 80's....great! As my friend and I drove there, a cold front came in and it rained all afternoon. But that's Chicago weather for ya....

Maybe this year will be different, here's hoping! ^.^ *crosses fingers*

Well a bit of good news for ya'll. Updated weather reports are saying it will be partly/mostly cloudy with a 10% chance of rain and in the upper 70's low/mid 80's next weekend.

Then again this is Chicago and the weather can change in a snap. So my packing suggestions are as follows:
Pack cool, light colored clothing...ie shorts, light colored t-shirts, etc for warm weather
a Sweater/light weight jacket for cool weather. However if you are a night owl and plan to check out late night events like Midnight madness, the AMV room, or one of the video rooms, that sweater Will come in handy seeing as the hotel cranks up the AC at night (cold induces sleep)

Oh...just so you know, the skywalk connecting the hotel to the convention center still has that weird climate control problem...extremely warm in one area but freezing in another, though I didn't see any puddles...

You hit the nail on the head on that one. Hell, today it was over 80 outside, but 2 or 3 days ago it was half that. The weather in this city is so screwy it's not even funny. I wouldn't be surprised if it snowed! Since I have what may be one of the shortest trips to Acen this year (just jump on the blue line, get off at Rosemont and I'm there), I'm not too worried about the weather. I just want to get my costume done in time.

The weather probably only really matters to travelers before/after the con days, and those who'd like outdoor photoshoots. But, based on the way the pattern's been, and judging tentatively by the long-range, I'd say plan for warm and sunny but pack an umbrella. Scattered thunderstorms really does mean scattered - there's no way to know if the Rosemont area will get hit when the rest of the city does.

I like thunder, though. :D

*laughs* Uggggh, I remember that from last year. I would get chilled every time I went through that one spot, and I kept having to lift up my cape in one outfit to keep it from getting wet.

I'm hoping for some sun on Sunday at least, because one of my outfits is such that it looks better in the bright light, and I'd like to get some outdoor shots of me and a friend in another outfit...

I really hope it doesn't rain.. () car tires become slippery, and wet costumes are never good! But the reports lately have been saying no rain.. Though it is forecasted to be in the 60s, so it might be a little cool.

Hmm, that's completely different from what weather.com's been saying in their 10 day... but well, I'm in Kalamazoo, MI. Considering how *ahem* "accurate" the forecasts around here have been, and we're only a couple hours' drive away...

Watch it be ridiculously hot and sunny by the end of the week. ;)

In the Chicago Tribune is says that it'll be in the 70s all weekend with rain on friday and sunday, not saturday tho...strange but still pretty good! Again when they say rain it usually means scattered, so it could just be raining further south

Lol, if you look at the weather now, it looks like God is loving us because it's raining/storming on the whole 10 day forecast except for Saturday and Sunday, lol..
