I want to do makeup for this character-- http://www.anichive.com/lunardragon/karlapic.jpg

Any suggestions on where to find makeup like this or how to put it on... I hardly ever wear makeup so I'm being intimidated by this.

Looks like all you would need to do is get a dark red lipstick or similar, and dark eyeshadow...

That's a rather dark image to go by, but if you were to get the right colors for the character and basically put the eyeshadow on your whole eyelid, up to y our eyebrows, blend it in on the sides (by your nose and temples) it should look good... looks like a bit of dark brown or black eyeliner would work good too.

As for foundation... her skin doesn't look overly light, so just go with whatever matches your skin tone. Aplication's rather easy, just put spots of it on your forehead cheeks nose and chin, and rub it into your skin in a circular motion, and add more in needed places that don't get covered. using a loose powder finish would help set it better and keep unwanted shine away. ^-^

Thanks for the help... It is a dark picture, but it's the only one I have. She's actually incredibly pale, but I don't think I'm going to worry about that part because my skin is naturally darkish (think Italian/Greek). It probably wouldn't be worth the trouble to do my arms, face, neck, etc.

well, I've seen two different pictures of her with different make up. Some have purple lipstick others have dark red. You could also use black eyeliner and mascara. The lipstick, mascara, and eyeliner are really all you need unless you want to get Purple contacts

^Less dark picture

^_^ I hope I could help.

Thanks for the info. It was very helpful. I never wear makeup normally, so I didn't really know where to start. Thank you again.

I'd say Karla's make-up is about the same as Lulus... ^^ very purple and dark indeed. To darken your eyes, aside from eyeliner and mascara, use three shades of eye shadow, starting with the darkest one closest to your eyes and go lighter toward your brows. It will really make your eyes look dramatic and achive the anime-ish intense glance. If you have the funds, go to a MAC cosmetic counter at your local Mall and try out the colors until you have an idea which ones look good together.

I recommend applying eyeliner on the inside of the eye (top and bottom) and AFTER you apply the eyeshadow. I would try black eyeshadow starting from the outer corner of the eye, draw a line until your brow bone (about the middle of your eyelid) and trace the curve of your eyelid until the almost corner of your inner eye. Then shade the inside a purplish color if you have one, and then color over with black. Finish with ALOT of (black) mascara. Also you might want some shimmer (silver/whitish) under your eyebrows just to make it stand out better.

Personally I've found out that N.Y.X. makeup works about just as fine as Mac and is about a thousand times cheaper. ($2.99-$3.99) for an eyshadow thingy, and lipgloss/lipstick runs about 3.99-4.99 a tube.

If you still need makup tips, or a visiual aid. PM me and I'll send you some reference pics. About the pale foundation, just find any foundation near your skin color to cover and blemishes. Being of a darker/tan complexion myself, I know that getting the light tone will be almost impossible and look fake compared to the rest of your body. ^^
Hope this helps

Eh.. NYX.. is that a typo meaning NYC?
Yeah, NYC makeup is pretty darn good for the price. I've personally never tried MAC, but I've heard it works really well--tons of people on here have reccomended MAC's makeup. So if you have the extra cash, and are willing to spend it in such a way, it probably wouldn't hurt to try them out.

You can get makeup all over the place. Personally I like Drug stores (Sav-on or Walgreens) for makeup, but I don't know about their selection when it comes to dark colors. I have a black eyeshadow that I really like (it's cheap, dark, and crease-resistant) The brand is called Rimmel and it is sold at Walmart. (Probably other places too, but I always get mine at Walmart.)
To get your face funky white, you can either use foundation that is really too light for your face, or you could look in a costume store and get clown paint white. That might be too white though.

lol, looks like my regular makeup. I have very fair skin and tend to wear deep purple lipstick. I just like the contrast. The one that I use is Violet Light by Revlon. I didn't realize I look like a goth lol.
