What concepts of ACen did you think was best? worse? I loved it all, and the masquerade was A LOT better than last year's! But I still want the Gothic Lolita and Bible v. 9 and 12 and the official Trinity sunglasses that I never got a chance to buy.... :waaaah:

I thought the Masqurade went really well! Everything was awe-sum. I didn't like the events as well as last years, and they had a heck lot of technical difficulties; but over all it was very memorable.

As my first con, I can't really say much, but I think the Dealer's Room was WAYYYY overpriced..but I was sorta expecting that!

And everyone was soooo nice! I love the anime community!!

This was defenitly ( I can't spell yay) a hugging con..or a sign con..cuz EVERYONE had a sign or got hugz..^-^

I was the Pimpette on Saturday and I also was the walking autograph book of ACen 2004 on Sunday! Yay! I was the one walking around with the little matching Hello Kitty doll (it matched my outfit) on Sunday..my outfit was really bland on the other days so I can't really tell how I stuck out..neh! It was fun and I can't wait to see everyone again sometime!

Basically all con's Dealer's Room are overpriced, but that's really because they're all Japanese related items, which are normally overpriced. Most of the items are imported from Japan, and Japan's pricing is a little high as well if you compare it with U.S.'s. Later on, you get used to the prices and you ACTUALLY begin to think they're cheap because there are other places where they jack up the prices to a point where it's highly unreasonable, and they do the same with fake items.

ANYWAY, yeah, the con really was all hugs, no kisses. ^^ WAIT!! I TAKE THAT BACK!!! I got 1 kiss ON MY HEAD ( DON'T BE GETTING SICK IMAGES!!! jk jk). It's fun to get hugs because you actually feel loved!!

I got to go in the Main Ballroom early for that Masquerade because I had security priviledges! THANK YOU VENUS FOR NOT LETTING ME STAY OUTSIDE, WAITING FOR HOURS, AND FREEZE TO DEATH!!! ::hugs::

Sadly, the Dealer Room is cheaper than places I normally go.. () My only major complaint about prices were the CDs. But they still had a lot of nice things there! ^^

I glomped so many people ^^; I was Dejiko from Di Gi Charat with those loud ringing bells, if anyone saw or remembers me! I'm partially deaf now, I had no idea they were so loud ;_; But it was fun to hug people, and we made signs for Sunday, but security confiscated them because there had been issues about signs the day before apparently.

I missed the masquerade pq; how was it?

The only complaint I really have is that my camera decided to break halfway through the con and I had to buy a waaaaaay overpriced outdoor camera at the hotel.

Yeah. That kinda sucked. So the pictures in my gallery kinda suck.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Eurobeat King's ACEN 2004 pics!

I thought that Acen went really well this year (Except for Sid sleeping in and knocking off the schedule). They managed the Masquerade line very well. I didn't get to see much of the masquerade because I was too sick to stay and had to go lay down, but... I'm crossing my fingers that Soulcrash will put up his videos again this year so I can catch what I missed.

My big beef was our realization of there being no substantial source of food on the premises. The 3 restaurants were way too expensive. Don't get me started on that table the hotel set up with $5 hamburgers and $3 bottles of pop. -.- But that's not Acen's fault.

I was kind of left unfulfilled because there were a bunch of things we really really wanted to go to but they were at the same time as something else we were at. -.-
We're gonna try to do more next year. But we really had a good time this year. Can't wait for the next one. :skidude2:

I thought everything was much better this year. For some reason I didnt really go to even one panel. I took pictures or had pictures taken of me most of the time. I was kinda sad that the entire sched was thrown off track Friday though, it really messed up AnimeHell and Midnight Madness. I met a couple people from cosplay.com I took around 120 pictures they should be up soon....oh yeah and I forgot 2ND PLACE IN THE GAME SHOW ^^ I had a blast even though the audience killed us at the beginning. I got my BAG OF DOOM prize...The Humanoid....lol :p plus where else can you see a grown man takes his pants off(....I scared some people at first before they realized I hadmy jean shorts on underneath.) and run around the room and jump over chairs. It was a great event though I hope someone here saw it :crylaugh:

I have to say that, as soon I put on my White Mage AF costume. Peeps talked to me like crazy about FFXI.......... The most commonly ask question was.........
"What server you're on?"... And "is that how you really look like in game?"
Man, that was fun talking about FFXI. And cosplaying with other FFXI characters......

Now, I think I'll do a panal on FFXI for next year's ACen....

From a personal point of view, I had more fun last year due to the fact that I had to spend alot of time running from place to place looking for people. (I'd say about 20% of the time) It was also stressful as hell when I lacked a place to put my bags, lost my badge for over half of Saturday, and scrambled to get everyone together for the skit...

HOWEVER, I did get anything and everything I wanted to do/see/buy this year done and taken care of.

From a con management point of view, they did a good job this year. The extra 1500 or so people we had compared to last year was handled with little to no trouble from my perspective. The entire Masq process, while hellish if everyone doesn't stick together, went very efficiently. The Green Room people did a great job preparing for the 04 Masq (But sadly, from back-stage we couldn't hear much of anything), and once it got started, the panel I was running on Friday (The Gundam Experience) went quite well.

Overall, a stressful, but accomplished weekend. I can't wait to see the Eurobeat King pics and Cosplay.com photos.

I had so much fun. It was my first anime con, and I'm definitely looking forward to future ones.

The highlight for me was getting a kiss from Scott McNeil (swoon) and being called short by Chris Patton (haha).

Yeah, but that line for the SID concert was definitely not fun. Did they really sleep in?

And food prices were too high. Luckily, I had a rice pot and some ramen...and a lot of pocky and oreos...and three gallons of lemonade...

At any one point, did you yell out 'who wants some oreos?' i think I heard someone say that..

I made a sign that said 'I'm a pimpette-hug me' and then I wrote 'need food' (wasted all the money in the dealers room ^-^) and all these people gave us foot long strawberry pocky and hello kitty pocky and pizza and all this stuff it was sooo nice!!

If you're talking about the first concert. All I can say it was major to minor (or was it vice versa) techical glitches we have during the set up.

For the second concert..... same reason.......

Need more sleep now. Stupid people next door talking/yelling loudly and drunkenly until 5:30 am.

On my scale it rates about a 7.5 - not as fun as last ACen, but way more fun than a good number of other cons I've been to in the past year. :) At least for some reason I didn't feel so old this time around. Maybe I'm just getting used to the concept of much younger people in droves.

And if I had a dime for every frickin' Naruto cosplayer...

My first true anime con... and wow, just.. wow. I love it *so* much and I stayed up both nights. Over this weekend I only got 4.5 hours of sleep @_@... but I bet others didn't get ANY...

I'm definately coming back this next year...

I wore a Dark-Vash-Inspired trench coat mid friday/saturday and a custom pink spider shirt on mid sat/sun...

My favorite parts of the weekend... seeing all the vash cosplayers and taking notes to make my next trench more recognizable as being vash inspired... anime hell I think it was? Whatever the segment was where they showed Evangelion:Redeath... so hilarious... "It's Gendo! *funky music*"... and I also loved to AMV room, simply because I want to do a little bit of that too...

I think for next year's aCen I'm going to go as Wolfwood, with a SFX Cross Punisher and SFX Portable confessional... And I'm going to make another Vash trench and make an SFX Revolver too... I'm actually thinking of writing into aCen to get permission for a props panel but they probably already have that in costume construction? I don't know... but I'd love to participate in that panel... I have so many ideas for prop making it's not even funny o_0;;;

OH! And does anyone know a guy from Missouri named Beau, pronounced Bo? I met him there and became his friend, he's an awesome guy, but alas I've lost his contact info! ;_; His name tag said "Inuyasha the St" cuz they couldn't get Stampede to fit... and he was running round in Neko ears all weekend... if anyone can help at all, it'd be very much appreciated. OH! OR IF ANYONE HAS THE AISHA CLAN-CLAN COSPLAYER'S CONTACT INFO -- She had an autograph book which Beau signed, and hopefully his contact info is in there... Jeez, I know it's asking a lot but I don't want to lose a friend...

Anyway, I'll keep ya'll updated with my prop/costume making... later ne!

All in all i had a good time. I was a little peeved that the staff made me cut down my tetsusaiga a whole foot, but after walking through the hallways on saturday, i see why i needed to. I kept overhearing people with such comments like, "god... could Inu-Yasha be cosplayed any MORE?" as i was walking around, but i was having fun so i didnt care... the Masq. was amazing, even though they had a few tech problems... the 6" rule... will never be the same. I'm looking into A-Reactor for my third con, hopefully i will be able to play my cards right. If you took any pics, make a link for me. i was an inuyasha without a wig... the only one i saw.

Yes, I know some of them are sideways, I didn't get home until past 4 am today and I'm too tired to fix that. If one of the sideways ones is you, save it and fix it on your own computer :P.

BTW, if you are EGL cosplaying and I DID take a picture of you, send me a PM. I might be writing an article about EGL for a magazine and I'd kind of like to have actual permission from people to use their pictures... *sweat drop* But that's a big MIGHT.

I can't even begin to describe how much more organized masq was this year over last year... I didn't leave it so stressed out I felt like crying this year. Yay. I was kind of surprised because people were way less open to talking to strangers than at Anime Detour (I'd say AD was considerably friendlier than Acen) but I found plenty of fellow Get-Backer-ites to hang out with and they were all cool peoples.

I also got my picture taken with Scott McNeal and got to have my picture taken in the Hachi-Roku (car from initial d) because the mechanic guy and the owner were cool... (did some talking with them, and was one of the chicks at the drifting panel. i was so glad to see other girls there, yay!)

All in all... some bad stuff happened (most of it being drunken akabane's stupid oversized hat's fault), yes, but... I'd say I left satisfied this year, whereas last year I went home rather short-tempered.

I'm hoping next year they'd be willing to do what Anime Detour did for cosplay photoshoots, though... they had a specific time and place cosplayers were supposed to go to and then ran them through a line so that anyone who wanted cosplay pictures just had to come there and take pictures of the line going through and they got good, close-up pictures of MOST of the cosplayers at the convention rather than having to chase them down and take their picture in crowded hallways.

I'd like more meet-ups like the artists meet up. I mean, I dont' want to go to a fan panel and just listen to four people talk about the fandom up front... I want to talk to all the people from that fandom. Yes, more scheduled meet-ups, less fan panels.

Edit: BTW, CapsuleCorp, you ruled at the crossplay panel. And the people asking for hugs REALLY got on my nerves when they were being aggressive about it. I didn't mind if you were just standing there in a corner with your sigh, but when you run up and BLOCK MY PASSAGE and refuse to let me through until I hug you, when I dont' want to because A) I'm in character and B) You'll crush fragile parts of my costume the only thing keeping me from slapping you is not wanting to get thrown out of the con.

The cosplayer behind me at Masq had part of her costume broken by someone hugging her without asking, so guys... if you're going to ask for hugs, PLEASE ASK, don't get in people's faces about it, and consider that not all costumes can be man-handled.

the only thing i didnt enjoy was the soap bubble how the speaker blew... and how they cut breakdancing which is sometimes the only reason some people go to the dance... how are you going to let people throw glowsticks around but cut breaking... sigh i was so disappointed... at least they got to do it for a while (long enough for my bf to get peed on by soulcrash... and for him to show off a little of what he has) (haha...) but other than that it was great.

My friend and I turned around and started shouting 'thank you' really loud. ^_^ We took it as a complement.

For me, the high point was the green room experience for the cosplayers. The seperate room with water for the cosplayers and with live video feed of the masquerade was awesome!

The low point was masquerade judging. First, the awards ceremony seemed totally haphazard and unorganized, with presentation awards going to walk-ons and craftmanship awards going to skits. Second, giving the grand prize to a guy who deviates from his prepared script and strips on stage just takes the cake. I feel bad for all the cosplayers who worked hard on their costumes and skits, but didn't win because that skit was allowed to get away with breaking the masquerade rules.

But on a positive note, congrats to all the excellent cosplayers who participated at ACen - I was wowed by all the truly wonderful costumes.

I have complaints on the judging too. I was the red Belldandy with wings, ya know, the one who shook her butt on stage XD that was fun, hehe. I had my cosplay perfect, I don't understand why I didn't get anything. Ho-hum it happens I guess (growl). But it wasn't just me, there was an AWESUM Zelda cosplayer who should have recieved an award for craftsmanship. :waaaah:
I don;t get the judging thing. It is so frustrating, but the roar of the crowd made up for it ^.^

things were pretty good i think, even though i was staff and didnt see much of the con. for odd/needed moments:

1: a guy wanting a picture of me then js before ht peic was taken he decided to hold me hand, leaving me like wtf??

2: the drunk guy with his badge in all l33t asking if i was a girl i replied no, he then went to my female friend then asked her she said yes, then he asked for a hug an told her a sob story of how he thought was a girl then found out she was a guy an wanted someone to go to the dance with.

3: having someone who shall remain unnamed see me, stop walking then start running to a act like they ran into me by accident to break my camera (that was not only a failure as the camera still works, you also looked like more an idiot than you are by assulting staff and attendees).

but in the end the con was still alot of fun an woudnt trade the fun/funny things that happened for allt eh money in the world.

The worst part was not being able to get that Coo hat! Arg, I ran out of money on Saturday, and since I live close enough my friends and I slept over on my house that night and we came back on Sunday. I had grifted some money from my parents and was ready to get the hat, but everyone was sold out! Super depressing... I wanted that hat >.<

Also, on Sunday, I was doing an icky cosplay as Keero (Card Captors, whee!) and my wings broke twice! -emo tear.- Luckilly some girl wanted to take my picture, and gave me a safety pin so I could fix the wings. Yay random girl! My friend and I put her on our video tape for being awesome.

Best part? Masquerade! And just being at the con in general. It was my frist one ever ^.^

A DDR LeGend: I didn't get a pic of you, but while I was in the Masquerade early (once again, thank you Venus), I asked you, "Will, what's it like in a miniskirt?" about you in your Angelic Layer costume. I didn't get a pic, but hey, at least I recognized you!

My friend and I were giving out Oreos on Sunday...we ended up leaving them by the musicians. ^^;; couldn't take all our food back to ohio on a plane very well.

Overpriced? Things were so cheap there! I loved it! I wish things were always that much....X_X

I think SID was the very best part of ACen, hands down ^-^

The low point was masquerade judging. First, the awards ceremony seemed totally haphazard and unorganized, with presentation awards going to walk-ons and craftmanship awards going to skits. Second, giving the grand prize to a guy who deviates from his prepared script and strips on stage just takes the cake. I feel bad for all the cosplayers who worked hard on their costumes and skits, but didn't win because that skit was allowed to get away with breaking the masquerade rules.

People who were in skits were also allowed to be judged for craftmanship awards, which by all rights we should be... :)

I personally had a great time, from the bunnygirl vs. catgirl fight we staged on Friday, to some random guy running up to me on Saturday, declaring "I'm your biggest fan!" and running off before I could do anything other than blink, to taking second place in the masquerade...yeah, I guess you could say that I though ACen was a success for me :D
