View Full Version : Megaman from ACen 2004

I decided a while back to make a Megaman costume, (Since he's been my favorite game hero since like, age 4) And this is it as prepared for ACen 2004. There were a lot of last minute accidents, (the paint on the arms warped the plastic, the crotch peice shrank when I dyed it) But it was a lot of fun to make, and even more to wear. I'll be redoing it come summer, to tweak it to look better. I think it came out well for the first attempt plastic cased megaman costume I've ever seen.
Any and all comments are greatly appreciated. There's a few other pictures in my gallery, and more to come too. Thanks~

Suggestions: the arm cannon has a yellow bar on the side. Also the arm with the cannon is the right side, the pictures show you with them on the left hand. There no knee caps the lower part of the leg is one part, also make it larger. Slick up your hair because he doesnít have any hair on his head. donít be shy to work with light wood. Also since not full body suit you could go with foam and metal.

I was basing the costume off of the manga styled Rockman outfit, from the manga "Rockman Megamix" By Hitoshi Ariga. The buster, rather than having a yellow power meter, has a light blue one on the opposite side, (sometimes optionally colored like the original yellow)

Ahhh...You're thinking X... He's righty. I went lefty on the basis of the video games; Megaman can change both his hands into busters, and when playing the original video games, your scroll right, and megaman leans in with the left to shoot. I think he was righty in the show too, but that wasn't a true representation really..

Once again, check out the manga style. His legs have a metal plate bolted into the boot. It gives the general appearance of Rock being a robot. The legs really were an issue though, it was hard to get that rounded look out of plastic. I'm redoing the legs out of foam and vinyl to get a better, truer style, and make them bigger. Of the whole costume, that was my least favorite part of the costume, they will be better eventually.

Ahh yes, duely noted. Megaman does have hair, but it NEVER shows through his helmet. I forgot to slick it back~
Donít be shy to work with light wood. Also since not full body suit you could go with foam and metal.
I'm considering it for next time. Metal and wood are beyond my scope due to lack of tools, but I'm going to give them both a try in the near future.
Thank you very much for your comments. I appreciate the feedback.

Hmm... post some reference pictures, maybe, since you're using the manga version that many people aren't as familiar with as the anime version.
I saw this costume at ACEN, it looked great, the one thing I'd comment on are I think your breifs are a little bit low in back. I'd add another two inches or so, but just to the back. They're fine in front.
I can't imagine trying to move in that. Didn't you feel like a whiplash car accident victim? :P
