Is anybody here a fan of the new Bubblegum Crisis series?

Well, I haven't seen it yet...but I'm wondering about the name of the pic. It's a pic of Sylia, but it's called bet with priss? Do I want to know or is it a spoiler or some sort?

*bounces up and down* me! me! ^^

I love it! it's not an award-winning anime by far, but the I love the characters, the attempted-rock sound track, the occasionally-reused-animation action scenes... ^^

normally in a series, I hate at least half the cast.. but in BGC2040, I like everyone. 0_0 rare!

I plan on cosplaying Sylia for AX03~ ^^

and, yes, I know it's a remake, and no, I haven't seen the original. so if anyone gets all annoyed about me not liking the original... shush and go BUY IT FOR ME. XP

I love BGC2040, and I can't wait for the sequel coming out BGC2041 with most of the original cast! ^^v

Cassandra, the picture itself is not a spoiler, its just a pic of Sylia I threw up, because I particularly like that character, and that pic.

Psyth3, where did you hear they were making a sequel? I would love to see that.

Soshi, Yeah, I agree with you. I cant say I disliked any of the characters. Your going to Cosplay as Sylia? Thats cool. You'll have to post some pics when you get done. Which costume were you wanting to do?

It was on Animefringe:

Big Trouble in Tokyo 2041

ADV's David Williams has confirmed that a sequel television series to Bubblegum Crisis: 2040 is in an "embryonic, pre-production stage" according to the Anime News Network. Entitled Bubblegum Crisis: 2041, this series is a legitimate follow-up of its predecessor and not simply a renaming of the A.D. Police spinoff, Parasite Dolls. Unlike Parasite Dolls, the new 2041 is an exact extension of 2040 and the production will use as much of the original casts as possible.

I started watching the series in May, and then a friend of mine got me the 8 original episodes (ooooh man! the surge of the 80's music!). After watching the original BGC, I continued with 2040, and now my other friend let me borrow the rest of the series :D I have to sit down and watch it though @_@ I believe I'm on episode 16. The music is very cool...I'm very much into anime soundtracks...if they're good ^__^

Bell-chan has rich friends? ^_^

I love Bubblegum Crisis 2040. Can't wait until the sequel comes out. Is it going to be an OVA or TV seriies? It would be nice if the sequel had great animation like the original.

Hey, I was just as shocked as you were when I saw what I got...I couldn't believe he'd spend so much money on me @_@ I found it especially strange since I hardly talked to him. But now....I'm confusing what happened in the original and 2040. @_@ I guess I'll just have to watch it again. But...I know one thing for sure... "Say Yes" was from the original -_- I liked that song until Alan started actually saying "yes" >_<

Good series. A VERY good remake of the original in my opinion. The english dub was even surprisingly good, except for the HORRID singing by the chick that did Priss' voice. Shoulda left the Japanese in there. Hehe...

Still, it was actually the first anime I fully collected on DVD. There's a sequel coming huh? Dunno how they can actually do one with how 2040 wrapped it up, but I'm definitely down for more if they can do it.

I was hoping that the series would have a little higher budget to show some major overkill action scenes with the knight saber suits. It kinda wrapped up as a general drama/ solve the mystery kinda series. I call for more budget!! more budget!!

I <3 BGC2040! ^_^ It's really cool, I need to actually buy the series instead of borrowing it from friends repeatedly, haha ^_^

I remember that... I was listening to the dubbed voices just out of curiousity and when it got up to the whole singing part I remember trying to reach the remote to press stop while covering my ears. @_@

The dubbing was good, for ADV. ::cringes in pain from Asuka's dubbed voice in NGE::

As for favorite characters, I'd say Priss from the orignal and Linna from 2040. Priss slipped from my #1 spot in 2040 after Leon and her got together, and well, she was kind of mean too. -_-

I was fairly impressed with the dubbing as far as ADV goes, esp Nene, Daley and Priss (NOT the siging voice, however.. a prime example of why you should NOT dub music). I thank God that none of their "regulars" were in it ~ it amazes me that the people ADV uses the most happen to be the worst. +_+;;

I like all the characters (well, maybe not Chairman Rosenkroitz), but my favorites are definately Sylia, Nigel, and Daley. I'm cosplaying Sylia for next AX, with Mackey, yay! ^_^

I still wanna see a group do all 4 hardsuits. I'd absolutely worship the costume designers. :D

Yeah, I really wanted to do the hardsuits, but then I looked at 'em, and I just say "I think I'll leave that for another day."

Maybe when I have a job where I make a kabillion dollars or something, hahahaha.

I'd say a good way to make one would be swimsuit material over chickenwire or somethin (but not exactly like that, duh)

However...movement >_<* don't even wanna think about the poor souls who would do that. They'd be stuck in a corner somewhere and waddle from place to place, haha :D

fiberglass would do it well. I've experimented with making armor before, but, full-body hard suits.. eh.. I don't want to even THINK about making something like that. X_X it would take WAY more effort, time, and money than I'm willing to devote to cosplay. ^^;

Fiberglass would be uber expensive, ne?

How do you go about making armor with fiberglass? *clueless* ^_^

Ive posted on topics like this before. I met a guy at a Con a few years ago who made his own set of Stormtrooper armor from Star Wars using vacuforming equipment. Ive even seen live demonstrations of how its done. A hardsuit could be made in the same way. I actually tried convincing my friends a couple of years ago to go as the Samurai Troopers, but it never really went anywhere.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I almost regret that I'm not female, otherwise I'd love to take a shot at it. It ain't cheap, but holy crap it'd be SO cool.

One of these days I will wanna do a BGC hard suit. So what I'm a guy, the suit can cover that up... though I'm sure the fanboys will be disappointed when I left up the visor. ;)

I personally would have no problem "crossplaying" BGC hardsuits or Metroid suit.

I'd wanna do Nene, she's the patron saint of computeres after all. :> (Someone used to have a web site named that)

Yeah, thats what I was going to say. I thought about going as Samus to a con before, but people really would be disapointed when you took the helmet off and you were a guy. Oh, well. It might be worth it.

Unlinke some people, I feel that BGC 2040 was a great successor to the original BGC. I enjoy it and I await the new series. :)

A girl as Leon? I think I would be a little too confused by that situation.:)

ZiggyB
12-04-2002, 12:20 AM
Hahah, that would just be a fantastic scene. A male BGC hardsuit costumer, followed by a female Leon... must... accomplish... someday. :D

12-04-2002, 01:48 AM
Actually, I was thinking it would be kinda cool to draft up a concept for a suit for Leon (Yes I KNOW there wasn't one but it WAS hinted at briefly in the series as a joke...) and do that. Might be kinda cool... or maybe I'm just trying to make up for my jealousy over my lack of boobies. Heh...

Well I was thinking about doing the powered suit that the evil boss has, ugh can't remember his name. The right hand man to the chairman...

Anyway, I think it's too blocky for me.

Hmm, there was a hint to Leon's suit? I missed it... :>

Miroku
12-04-2002, 03:18 AM
I dont know. Do you think Leon would wear a hardsuit? He seems happy with the ADP equipment to me.

mughi3
12-04-2002, 03:55 AM
Yeah, I really wanted to do the hardsuits,
your a little late.
anime expo 1998 a guy made priss's original hardsuite using a suba wet suite and fiberglass pieces. he also had a girl he knows wear it. she won best of show that year in the cosplay.
i have pics, but they arent scanned.

*SPOILER*

Yeah, near the end he mentions that it would be nice if Sylia could make a suit for men, though he would look funny in high heels or something like that.

Mainly it was just so he could be with Priss. ;)

*sniff* It brings a tear in my eye to see so many 2040 fans. I personally thought 2040 was an excellent successor to the original BGC. I loved the new designs of the charcters to death as I thought they were a 100% in almost every case over the "we are the 80's style of dress" And the music was just awesome.

One of my favorite series.

I'd cosplay Leon. I'm already threatening to cosplay Daley, but none of my female friends are taller than me so I wouldn't have a crossplay counterpart. ^____^;;

if any guy wants to go as Priss I will definately be your Leon! (as long as I'm at the con! lol~)

Lickey waitress boomers.........I remember those.

Studmaster, I think its great too. It seems there are alot of people who didnt like the new BGC series. I thought it was great. I liked the updated style, the animation quality, the character designs. It was all good. I really wish there was a costume from this series I could do. Hey maybe a boomer costume! hmmmm......

BGCT2040 was great, and I willingly dished out the cash to buy the entire series set right away. Although I was worried, because the set was all dubbed version, suprisingly, it was really well dubbed (except Priss' singing of course), and I enjoyed it overall. Nene was insanely kawaii and the voice fit her excellently, all cute and kid-like lol, and Daley Wong is like my new hero, that guy roxX0rZ! XD!!!

Not too long ago my bro picked up some manga of the original BGC, and after seeing 2040, I looked at the characters and said "Whoa... What the hell... I think I'll stick with 2040 thanks!" LOL I guess I just find it hard to visualize the characters any different then I first saw them.

And Hardsuit cosplaying... Ahhh... its my bro and my dream cosplay. Even though we're guys who cares, its the only crossplay I'd ever do willingly lol. And its been done, has anyone seen the Nene hardsuit that was made for Nene's Japanese VA? Looked great, but it was small compared to the anime, but we all know of the extended length on anime legs so it would be pretty difficult to make exact anyways, so I'd say it was pretty darn good! Better then I could do hahaha x_X;;

@_@ Ok...I just finished the last episode, and it leaves me confused. I'm glad they're making a second season/sequel/whatever-you-want-to-call-it thingy. I still don't have a favorite character! They (meaning knight sabers) were all amazing in their scenes. XD I think the songs from 2040 and the original were really cool, even though the original's songs were "too 80s" for some people here :D Konya wa hurricane!
