ive read all the asian threads and eyeliner and eye, basically, a good amount of the posts. and i was wondering if anyone knew of any good eyeliners and or black eyeshadows that wont smudge. ive tried mac, and mabye its because i have asian eyes or something, im not quite sure.. but it smudges. and i really cant find anything that's worth it. also, does anyoen know of any water proof eye makeup? because most of mine claim to already be waterproof, and never are.

most appreciated and thanks!

I tried using black pencils for a long time, but they always left a crappy crease right on my eyelid. I also tried using liquid eyeliner, but it would always come out funky. Right now, I use this little pot and brush dealie from Bobby Brown, and it works FANTASTICALLY. I think it's called "long wear gel eyeliner", and it's never left that cruddy crease I always got. It's not waterproof, but it definately lasts all day without touch ups.

Smudging usually comes from some moisture around the eye area from creams, or else moisture in the product itself. If the product is not totally set and dry it's prone to smudging.

I avoid pencils altogether unless I'm lining my inner rims.

I use Bobbi Brown Gel Ink eyeliner as well. Stila's Smudgepots is also very similar. They aren't totally smudgeproof, but much better than anything else I've tried. It helps though to totally powder the surrounding eye area.

With powder eyeshadow, keeping the area matte is also key. I use an eyebase (MMU Eye Rescue) and powder over that. A T-zone oil absorber would also work on the eyelid. I like Sue Devitt eyeshadows as they are silky and long-lasting, but she doesn't make a true basic black.

Another thing you can use is an eyeliner sealer like Benefit's Shelaq, however, I find it can leave a bit of a shiney finish which I don't like.

Fila used to make an awesome liquid eyeliner. It did not smudge at all! But then it was discontinued.

i have the same problem, but i doubt its because of your eye shape, something i found works like a charm is this makeup stay stuff i bought at Sephora called She Laq. its absolutly amazing, give it a shot. I usually wear liquid eyeliner under it

I've heard equally good things about the Bobbi Brown eyeliner. I have the same problem as I don't have the double-fold eyelid so my eyeliner is constantly smudging. :\ It isn't so much that my eyelid is oily (although it does become that way much later in the day); it is because my eyelids are so "hooded" that skin sort of pushes it onto my undereye area.

LOVE the Bobbi Brown gel liners. I'm asian with oily eyelids too.. this stuff is my holy grail. It's not totally waterproof but it is smudgeproof as long as you don't go rubbing your eyes.

Another trick is to use a makeup sealer (like She Laq) over your eyeliner. You could even use it on top of eyeshadow if you prefer to use a eyeshadow to line your eyes.
A cheaper alternative to She Laq is a theatrical makeup sealer (by Ben Nye or Mehron). The are about $8 a bottle and last forever!
