Sorry, theres a lot here, pay close attention! :)

Yeeah, this is a late one, but its summer, you should all have jobs or be working your ass off on costumes! If you aren't already doing both! :D
For many of us, Otakon is coming up and it seems like its going to be here next week, I think we still have a month left, but it is July 30th - August 1st. Seems far away, but its a little over a month from now. It's a lot different when you go to many conventions a year over just one.

Anyways, I want to get the ground work in for the next gathering. Let's set this one up fast and I'd like everyone who can show up to be there this time. And everyone should cosplay, it's been relaxed in this past and now you should be ready enough. This is a cosplay group from a cosplay website anyways, not a fan club.
*With Otakon coming up, and it now being the largest anime convention in the USA (Some of us may be attending Anime Expo in early July and more this summer too) we want to avoid those dates, and other conventions that members may be attending.*
Concerning cosplay, we are respectable people, so you shouldn't let yourself fall to "half-assed" or paper-bag costumes, or the common 'goth-punk-catgirl-bondage-Rei' pointless extended and unrelated versions of costumes that seem to question the point of cosplaying the character. That's just my opinion. If we go somewhere to gather we'd like to be somewhat respected, curdious to the public, and not look like street people or prostitutes. Cosplaying in public is different from conventions because you they are going about their business, thats why children are often escorted by parents at cons. And in public its nice to have your characters recognised more.

Anyways, back to the next event.
Lets find a date in August quickly, those of you who know the dates for your school district or facilitily please post them so we can avoid when everyone returns to classes. If anyone is going to a convention in August please post and note that. This could be a picnic event or another arcade/lazer tag event.

Maybe we should try to do a specific cosplay for this event? Since it is a shooting game, I suggest Battle Royal cosplaying. It's easy enough to do and it'd be easy to recognise. (Although its not something everyone knows of, but something easier for a large group to do and theres not much else other than videogames in america.) Anyone got good reference pictures for the male and female uniforms? This could be a more relaxed event due to all the stuff going on over the summer, maybe we can worry about doing a stronger group cosplay later.

Please discuss :) I'll make another thread once we get down what we wanna doo..

I'll most likely make it to this one...

I would more then likely be able to come to this one! And I would also be able to bring two other friends who cosplay but arn't members here. I'm going to talk to them both and see if they'll come and cosplay from Battle Royale with me! ^_^

I'll check on the dates and get back with that later.

Sounds good, lets hope we can get a high attendance. If I know a lot of people can come I can reserve the whole place for us. I'll go there next week and talk to them again.
Apparenly Wake County Schools return Aug. 10th (Tuesday) to classes, thanks for the heads up quadrain. That might put them at a disadvantage, lame high schoolers :P Of course I'm one of them, a Senior. :P I wouldn't mind having this after returning to school, for a date slightly later in August, if the other Wake County Schoolers don't. If its that Saturday (Aug 7), and you ditch us so you can go school shopping, you are forever lame :(
As I see it, Saturdays are always best because those who are working can probably get a day off then, if this isn't the case, please post. Otherwise, theres that Thursday (Aug 5) and Friday (Aug 6). I imagine everyone returning from Otakon will be back to some like-normal state and caught up on their sleep enough to roll out.

My school starts mid-late august as far as I know.

I'll do my best to come and cosplay, I don't have any gunner type costumes though. Well, there is Alucard but there's no way I'm wearing that in the middle of summer, I'll melt and it'll ruin the costume. I have an original character one too, but I'm not sure where all the pieces are.

There's a 50-50 chance I will or won't make it to this upcoming event. It really depend if I can able to get a ride to North Raleigh **I'm in Durham** Well, got a month to get that straight. I am going to stay positive. I will find a way to come! :)

Battle Royale cosplay is a great idea. Like you said, "Easy to do." I can save up some money to work on it.

For the uniforms: http://www.battleroyaleonline.com/
I haven't really look though the gallery, but I am sure it has a good references for the uniforms. ^^

I'm going on a family trip sometime in august (woo for summer) so i don't know if I can make it. And I already have a bunch a costumes I plan to make for other conventions this year..so I don't know if I wanna manage another one from a movie (or anime?) that know nothing about. I'll probably wait until (or if) there's another duke gardens picnic later on..since I despise lazer tag anyway :XX

-Oh yeah and o-chibicon is august 6-8 but its in houston ,so i guess it doesn't matter. lol

I doubt that us here in Asheboro can come since we'd all be riding together =P
Randolph County Schools start August 9, Goddess Cookie is at the beach, and Avanon is going to be going away to school sometime (she's at Summer Ventures now for 4 weeks).
Also we don't have the money to start another cosplay... but if we could go you shall have either Nurses or Final Fantasy Critters attending XD

But as far as right now: I cant make it

At least I'm not the only one it seems that will have somewhat of a busy summer @_@. Doesn't look like specific cosplay would be the best idea, so don't worry too much about it. It's the summer and its running around, (there's DDR there too), so wearing something light and cool is important! And you might want to bring water. Maybe this isn't the best event to start making cosplay more important at... Or does everyone really want to do lazer-tag? :o There wasn't much of a show up at the Adventure Landing arcade gatheringness... I like the idea of having another event at Duke Gardens, maybe that would be something we could do again early this fall?

An alternative or add on to the laser tag get together has been made, me and Link Arroway disscussed about a Pullen park picnic.

If you know Pullen park it's in downtown Raleigh beside NC State.

The idea was to rent a Shelter for a couple of hours and just have fun. The shelters range from $8 - $10 or more for an hour with a minimum of 2 hours. I think that can be accomadated somehow. We also don't know when this is going to happen if it does happen yet.

I'll get more information soon. I just read through the rules and regulations and I'll try to get us away from civilization because we don't want to cause trouble. :skidude2: Shelter 1 (I think) should be far enough and it's on an island.

If you want to see some pics it's here (http://classycutssalon.com/ipw-web/gallery/album02?page=1)

Above was my last company picnic.

The problem Link Arroway wants to have a DDR thing too and there's no electricity. What do you think?

blah, this is looking organizationally scary. damn you otakon, taking my money :( I don't care for DDR, I was saying hey why not bring ddr along if its at an electricity thing in the park :o, not exactly seriously. >.>

park sounds fine with me if people dont want to do lazer tag as much, parks don't have A/C but the lazer tag place could be crowded if not reserved and when running around playing lazer tag = not great for showing off costumes and taking pictures and staying cool. I thought people wanted to do a lazer tag event for some reason :3

The picnic idea sounds really fun! I think I'm about a half hour away too. I'm just wondering if it'll be too hot o.o ..

I like the picnic idea as well. It sounds like it'll be kinda like that first gathering we had, only hopefully with more people in costume.

I'm fine any time from August 3rd to the 25th, but, I don't think I can get to Raleigh. It's an hour and a half drive, and my mom will likely have a job by then, so I have no transportation.

But, I really, really want to go to this next gathering; it will be the last one I'm able to go to until next summer, because I'm going to college in Maryland. :(

I think I have my orientation on the 25, so before then is good for me too, so long as it's after otakon.

I'd say around the begining of August because of school and all. There is a slight chance I might not be in the US at that time - but I'll probably be here. But I liked the Battle Royal Idea - I mean, if we could get a lot of people to do it. One person would be kinda odd. Lol, but, if everyone wants to do different cosplays then that's great too ^^ Hope to see you all there!

If your able to go, i'll be able to too, cause liek i can drive us there ^^ it would be better that my mom would know someone else was coming with me.
Yeh call me later so we can plan something ok? oh and um also about the tickets for otakon too.

The only problem for me will be that I only have two costumes, (Akane and Futaba, and Futaba would be extremely hot to wear.) and that I may not get to go, because my school starts back on July 26. I'll see what I can pull though.

La~!

I swear, I'm not dead. ^_-

Anyway!! Spiffs idea. Because I go to Southeast, school starts the 26th of July for me too. ;___; *sniff sniff* So any Saturday in August sounds fine to me. Um, as for specifics must talk to the Mom and stuff but I don't see why not? :O

Yeah, I don't have any BR cosplay or way cool shoot-y people. I mean, I can always break out the Ho Yumi-ness. :XXXXXX But actually, I kinda think the park would be better . . . If we do it on a nice day because pictures would be better and stuff. Did I mention, MERRY-GO-ROUND?!?! :DDDD

Ok, yeah. ^^

Okay, let me settle down some things and point somethings out.

It's a crowded rushed summer it seems and maybe I should suggest a possible gathering date of Saturday, Aug. 7th. The Saturday AFTER Otakon. And this event could be more relaxed. Otherwise, it seems the best option would be to wait a month, at least.

Now, for settling the option of type of event. As many of you may have noticed, its hot outside. Very hot, and humid too. Do you think it will have cooled off by then? (If you went, Remember Otakon last year, it was very hot outside :( )
I might suggest we wait until later (when it is cooler and people have less going on) to have a big picnic gathering again, and do something simple in the mean time. Or have another picnic gathering later.
Battlezone is a -small- air conditioned (I think :)) arcade and lazer tag place and so if we went there I'd recommend (since we'd be active if you played lazer tag) light costuming or light clothing. With this much going on, I don't think it'd be best to try to do a group cosplay there. A picnic gathering is better for that, theres more room to take pictures :)
Although, another arcade gathering would be a lot harder to get together in for the sake of hanging out even. So I'm leaning towards the picnic at Pullen Park that quadrain proposed. Just be careful of the heat.

Well, if you have them, hurry up and make your own suggestions :D

I suggest in August we do the Battlezone thing. Maybe the picnic gathering in September at Pullen Park. It will be a little cooler *I guess. The weather is funny here.* and we can wear heavy costumes around that time. ^^

Meh.
Even if I can go, I know it wont be possible for Aug. 7... thats the Saturday before school starts for me and I will be stressed and/or tired from lack of proper sleep, and will most likely be school shopping ><

<offtopic> quadrain - Don't let farmboy destroy teh yuor bawls :P </offtopic>

Anyway, I'm all for the suggestion of Battlezone in August, and a picnic in September. Hopefully it will be much cooler in September, and also I may actually have one of my new costumes finished by then (not likely) XD

Okay, so it looks like I'm coming after all (thanks, Ookami!). :) I vote for a picnic gathering, because...it could be fun? ^^; I dunno, I'm just not very into the arcade scene so that's my opinion.. Either way, I will be there...and everyone else should be too, it's the last time I'll see you all for a while. :P
