I know there's a couple threads scattered out there, but there hasn't been one in awhile and with the fourth game coming out soon... I think SH needs a cosplay thread to discuss the outfits from the games! :D

This can be a thread for tecnhiques on certain parts of outfits, helping fellow SH cosplayers and sharing your work. :skidude2:

Anyone working on a Silent Hill costume as of right now? Or have any pictures to share of ones you've already made?

*that pyramid head guy from katsucon*

well, i've REALLY wanted to do some of the creepy-ass monsters, but it hasn't come out yet and there aren't many good pics to use. Either that, or i'm just lazy and not looking for them.

I'm totally having a hard time(plus I put it off til the last minute). So far I've got:
orange armbands(from claire's boutique)
black chunky watch
brown knee boots with buckles(from zappos.com)
Blonde hair, and cut, with slight dark roots growing in
pink shimmery lip gloss etc.
dark green (coffee colored almost) mini skirt (from rampage.com)
heather flashlight(frys)

I'm missing:
orange mock sleeveless top
white hoodie vest

I NEED HELP FINDING THESE IN THE NEXT WEEK!!! Crazy- plus my boyfriend is dressing as Vincent, my best friend is doing James, and my brother is Harry. I had twins doing Mary and Maria, but they backed out.

I remember taking a picture of a couple of pyramid heads with their huge machetes at Fanime this year. They even gestured for me to come over to them. Sure they were posing, but it was still freaky... :woah: Anyways, the thing is, I don't have a web site to put any of my pictures on. :waaaah: I found some other sites with pics of the two, but forgot what the site addresses were. I'll search around and post back with the links.

I actually found the white hoodie vest at New York & Company for less than thirty dollars. I had to go to EB just to make sure I wasn't dreaming and I actually found it. Though it's got no vest pockets, so I don't know how you're going to do the flashlight.

New York & Company Webiste (http://www.nyandcompany.com/index.jsp) But I dont know if the item is actually listed there. I went to two of their stores, but only one had them. (that was in Lakewood, CA)

I'm still missing the orange sleeveless top and the boots, but I'm kinda on a budget, so I think I'll just go with kneehigh socks and the shorter black boots I already own. If I dont find the sleeveless top, I'll just go the Japanese Soundtrack Heather style, just the white top, no orange top underneath.

For pictures on monsters and on SH4 characters, a good place to look is Silent Hill Network (http://www.silent-hill.org) or Central Silent Hill (http://www.black-helix.com/is/dead/)~

And hopefully I'll finish the Silent Hill cosplay page (http://www.whatthefun.net/sh) soon. >_< I really need to finish that up... so I can start adding SH4 characters too.

You're in that area? Cool XD But just so you get the correct mall, it's the one at the Los Cerritos center, on South St off of Studebaker in Cerritos (sorry, I got my cities mixed up O_o was in too many malls yesterday. It's not the Lakewood Shopping center one that's off of Del Amo, that one is the one that doesn't have it.) When you walk in the store, it should be on the wall to your left. I was just there yesterday and got it then. Good luck!

Lands end... hm... it might be too late for me to get it there, since I need it on Thursday (AX)

I simply gave up and went out to buy a white mock neck that's long sleeved (closest thing I could find) and bought two boxes of RIT dye from JoAnn Fabrics and it turned out pretty well. I cut off the sleeves. The only downside is that I bought a men's shirt and it doesn't stretch too much, so it's a bit tight in the chest area.

As for the white vest, do you have any New York & Company stores in your area? They're usually in one out of every two malls I visit, kinda like Express. The vest is from the New York Jeans line.

Alright, since this is a SH cosplay thread, maybe one of you can help me. It might seem insanely easy but I'm a bit confused about how exactly to construct Maria's skirt. Would it be just ... one tube, a seam up the back .... or two pieces ... or .. or ... GAH!
... Does anyone know where I can get a pink leopard skirt in an X-large x.x

When I made Maria's skirt, I had two pieces of fabric, with the seams up the sides... and a zipper in the back. I don't think that's how hers was in the game, but it was the easiest way go about making it with the material I found. :D The skirt isn't that hard to make I don't think... just finding the perfect material is. >_<!

it would be, because I can find:

1. kitchen knife (DUH!)
2. switchblade
3. wood with nails in it
4. rusty pipes
5. old axe
6. chainsaw
7. big drill
8. shotgun
9. rifle

sadly they are all real and can't be used at a con.

oh well, back to getting ten stars in Silent Hill 2, rowing the boat is a BITCH.

I did, the only differences were:

1. Instead of orage armbands I just wore a orange T-shirt
2. I wore green shorts instead of a skirt.
3. I didn't have tall boots, but I had boots none the less.

the name would be Heath (like Heath Ledger), instead of Heather.

No doubt. The only fabric I've found, thus far, had been a slightly flocked pink leopard. I figured a stretchier fabric would work well for it. I did find some wet-looking type on Ebay but let it slip away before I bid on it T.T
I think I'm going to wait and check some other fabric stores in the meantime. Going to do this for SugoiCon, a small convention up in Covington, Kentucky.

Wow, I just picked up Silent Hill a few days ago. It's freaking me out despite it's dated looks, and I never realized exactly how much Jacob's Ladder influenced the series until now.

I also found out that if I buy a pocket flashlight and a black button-down or very wide v-neced shirt, I have a pretty decent Harry Mason costume on my hands. I already have:

Brown Doc Martin shoes (I think they were brown, but it really doesn't matter too much)
Jeans (Duh)
Black Belt
Brown Hair ;)
White T-Shirt
A Courduroy Jacket (not the same style as his jacket, but close enough and exactly the right color)
A (broken) KWC Colt Double Eagle-modeled airsoft gun. It doesn't look much like Harry's gun in the game, but that's a fictional gun anyway.

I'm just lucky, I guess. :D

hmm I would cosplay Maria from SH2, but I think her outfit is dreadfully ugly. Maybe cosplay the old hagish lady from Silent Hill 1.. . nah. . I don't think I'd want to cosplay anyone from SH3 except for the pink bunny costumes. Silent Hill 4 is coming out next week, and I think if there are any cool things to cosplay, I would. unsure. And the movie is coming out, although I am not sure when it comes to America or if it even is or not, but maybe if that is good enough I'd do that too.
nah, I think all the outfits from all the games are too plain. Do those nurses from SH2 though, they were the coolest.

Oh me! I'll be at Nekocon 7 as Heather! (and Princess Peach, now there is a pair.....) I've already got the skirt (just needs to be shortened), and a wig picked out. I just need to order my wig and boots. I need fabric though for my jacket, shirt, and arm bands.

On a Heather related question: does anyone have any suggestions for doing her make up? She has the pale, sort of i-haven't-slept-in-two-weeks look to her. With red around the eyes and it kind of runs down into her cheeks. I was thinking of mixing a pal conceler with red eyeliner and putting it over a good foundation. Does anyone think that will work?

sorry, but after last year's Katsucon, I've just been too scared to drive to Arlington again. The highway exit ramps in that area were WAY too busy and impossible to get through. Even the great highway intersections of downtown L.A. are easier to manage.

I plan on doing Eileen with Numbers, and everything (trying to not spoil anything) anyways Eileen towards the end of the game, got everything worked out and it should be fighteningly realistic. if I pull it off correctly I want people to gasp when they see me

Im planning on being a demon nurse(sh3) for Halloween. I have already found the perfect dress(i hope) and nurse's hat on ebay, but im still bidding on them so it's not for sure. The only thing thats different about the dress is the part of the collar that comes down; it only has one row that comes down the cleavage instead of two. I might have to modify the hat a little, too. I also dont have an apron, but im going to wait and see when it gets here, if i really need one.
I only need one thing to finish it off: SHOES! i cant find anything good... well there were these ones, but they were in European sizes and i dont know how to convert American sizes to foreign! Why cant all size charts be the same?!
Plus my feet are kinda big. lol. Their usually size 9 1/2-10 wide in womans. heh

It is still early so we will iron out all the time details later. Hey everyone! I have a weird question that I'm hoping to get some help with...

I'm entertaining the idea of making Eileen's alternate costume for Anime Expo 05. The problem is that it's basically a thong in the back, and I obviously couldn't wear something like that to a con. So I was thinking of making it into a mini skirt instead. The skirt would be the same style as her default costume, only white with pink trim (or is it supposed to be purple trim? I can't tell). From the waist up the costume would look just as it does in the game.
Part of me thinks that's a cute idea, and part of me thinks that if the design needs to be modified, then it wasn't meant to be. I know that in the long run it's only a small modification, but I still have some doubts...

So I wanted to get some opinions from other Silent Hill fans: Should I make a modified version, or is that a dumb idea?
Here's some pics of the outfit, for those who don't know what I'm talking about (Warning Images contain Spoilers): Alternate Eileen (http://gallery.felixmcli.org/gallery/sh4-caps?page=57)

One last question: If you saw this costume at a con, would you still recognize it as Eileen's alternate outfit, even with the modification?

Er...sorry for rambling. Hehe, I'm so bad at describing my ideas..

i've seen thongs at cons so....i think it would be okay... but if ur uncomfortable, then a mini skirt would work fine....or just wear something to cover ur ass... then take it off for photos *shrugs*

He has a good point, I mean I have seen things much more revealing than thongs at AX ehem manfaye as an example. It is what you deem comfortable and the worse they could do is ask you not to wear it. Plus would you do it with the blood and number or without because the number across the back and blood everywhere would make it so much better in my opinion. If you do end up doin it at AX05 definitely come and join mine and state_alchemist's Silent Hill gathering. The thread is in the Anime Expo section, come by and drop a line

Lol, ah yes, manfaye. I'd forgotten about him. You have a point, there are way more revealing things at cons. Yeah, I'd most definitely have the numbers, blood, bandages, etc. I agree that would make the costume way better.
My little sister (Fake_Harley) was just telling me about the Silent Hill gathering. I think she's going as a nurse. She was asking me if I'd wear my Heather costume to it, but personally I think I make a terrible Heather, which is why I started thinking about doing Eileen's alt costume instead. I just have to decide which costume I'm gonna wear, but either way I'll definitely go to the gathering. It sounds like fun!

if your uncomfortable don't make it a thong in the back. make it as if it were a normal leotard in the back. that way it wouldn't be too much of an alteration.

And... Thread revive!

I don't know when I'm going to another con, exactly, but I'm totally doing Henry from SH4. Sure, it may be a little difficult, considering his wardrobe, but I figure the revolver and lugging around the pickaxe of despair ought to tip off a few people.

On the revolver note... Does anyone know a good way to make a realistic (at least smooth) silver finish on ABS plastic?

I would ask the con staff about the nudity rules first. Unless they're really anal (pun intended), you would probably be fine wearing a thong with tights underneath. You might want to wear a flesh-colored bodysuit as part of the costume anyway because you could paint it to look bloody, thereby ensuring that the paint would stay in place all day and seriously cutting down on the time it takes you to get into the costume as well.

not familiar with ABS plastic, but I know a paint job that works every time. Go to a hardware store and purchase any sandable grey primer, some 150 grit sandpaper, and some 400 grit sandpaper. Go to an Autozone or Murray's to pick up some silver automotive spraypaint. If you want a shiny metal reflective surface, pick up some clear finish as well.

Basically, sand the plactic with the 150 grit till it's smooth. Clear all of the particles off and put on a licht coat of grey primer. Let it dry overnight. Sand it lightly with the 400 grit (some clumps of paint may appear while sanding. be sure to remove them). Clear the particles and add another light coat of grey primer and be sure to cover everything. Dry overnight. Sand with 400 grit again, but keep it light. Spray on two or three light coats of the silver (with half-hour drying times in between). Then let it dry overnight. If you want you may use the clear finish on it, but it's a matter of what kind of silver finish you want.

I really want to get some good shots that look creepy, lol. Maybe I can take some inside the hotel at night or outside. So expect within the next month, I'll be sure to PM them to you as evidence, lol.

Well, I don't know if I want to help you now, you just insulted a great series.:bigcry: :p

For the hammer, have you tried checking out toy or costume stores? Otherwise you can probably make it out of PVC piping, craft foam and polystrene sheeting.

@ Winters Knight: denim or linen would be a good choice for Claudia's clothes. The fabric looks a little rough. I hope you'll find something in this very, very dark blue color.

This is a superb idea. Frankly, I'm suprised at how little people actually focus on SH in the cosplay field, other than the occasional (And awesome) Pyramid head or Heather. Part of me has always wanted to put on a blue button-up and splash fake blood over myself and go as Henry Townsend, because I (supposedly) look like him.

@ State_Alchemist: sure I want to see your poster! So… SHOW IT or I got to use my demonic powers to FORCE you to do it! :D

Yeah, Silent Hill is hardly cosplayed… I don't know why. The games are fantastic and the characters are very cool. I want to cosplay more SH characters but the problem is that I'm so DARN LAZY when it's about making costumes.
But well… I needed just a few hours to make my sister's Demon Nurse costumes so maybe I should just give it a try someday and make more costumes for myself too.

But there's one thing I know: when I have a kid I'll dress it up as one of the Silent Hill kids.
A blonde girl will be Laura, a dark haired girl Cheryl, a dark haired boy little Walter and a blonde boy… hmm… chibi James? ROFL
Well, and if the kid is really, really ugly… :D then I'll dress it up as a Mumbler.
Haha, even better: imagine a three feet high Pyramid Head! XD XD XD

Ok, I'm just kidding about the ugly kid.

Besides: I really like all the posters I've seen so far. They're really cool!

Hey boys and girls! I just saw a screencap (?) of the movie-version Pyramidhead and right then and there, I decided I'm cosplaying him. As much as I love everything about SH2, I really like the movie version of PH. I've only found one picture of ole pointy-head and it lacks a bit of detail. I hoping against hope that someone might know of another picture of Pyramid Head. I'd loooove to have this costume done in time for the movie premiere.

Anywho, if you haven't seen him yet, here (http://images.aintitcool.com/images2006/spearhead021406.jpg) he is.

Dude, when saw that picture a couple of days ago on LJ, I just thought that this Pyramid Head kicks a$$, lol. This one looks a lot better than the one in the games. Sadly though, this is the only image that I've seen of the PH too. However, I think the contour of the helmet is basically the same as it was in SH2. So all that you need to do is just add that patch of ridges to the back.

Yeah, it's a pretty easy prop/costume (?) to put together, I'm finding. The only things I wasn't sure about from that picture is if that bottom edge runs around the entire hat like a brim, or if it's only on the front two sides like a V. And I couldn't tell if the texture on the smaller triangles are "pointy" checkered like what you would find on a gun or knife hilt, or if they were "rounded" checkered like what you would find in a soft foam packing mat (sorry I don't know the correct terms for these textures), or some other texture entirely. I'm probably going with the pointy checkered pattern, just to keep with the whole angular tetrahedron motif. And more reference pictures would help me pin down the proportions of the hat.

I was thinking of making a pyramid head costume, but I'm kinda stuck on working out how to actually make one you can see out of, as the couple of cosplays I've seen just have a hole cut out at the front, which looks kinda crap, and would probably still have rather poor visibility.
any ideas?

astillar
02-26-2006, 12:59 PM
I gotta agree with you, stupid. I really don't want to cut a hole in my pyramid. The best solution I've come up with is that I'm leaving the bottom of my head open so that I can at least see the floor around my feet. I'm going to try to situate a mirror just below that opening so that I can also see what's ahead of me. If that doesn't work (which I'm expecting it won't), I might just have to place some shutters where the eyeslit would be. Thankfully I'm doing the movie version of Pyramid Head which has lots of details where the seams of the shutters could be hidden. And if all else fails, just cosplay blind! I've done it many times before. All it means is that you need a handler and don't walk around on your own.

Where'd you get that pic?!? Is that official? If it is, that really changes things. I've been working off the ONE pic of movie-version PH. It doesn't have great resolution, so I assumed that the pattern of the smaller triangle is a raised checkered pattern (http://www.geocities.com/buick_roadmaster/1b.jpg) (that's just the rough mock-up). I mean, if you made up that graphic, that's fine too. It's a very solid design. But if it is an authentic reference pic, please let me know. If I've gotta change my design, I'd rather do it sooner than later.

I actually am looking forward to the movie because the preview actually grasped my focus with the environments throughout the trailer and the atmosphere that really kept with the spirit of the game. I felt inspired to actually go back and play through all of the games before the movie comes out.

EDIT: Hey astillar, I found the pic that I was talking about. Here it is:

I had to edit part of the image because what was on the left side of the Pyramid Head wasn't pretty and some might get offended. If you want to the full image that's more than twice it's size, let me know.

Ah, major thanks, State. I'd really appreciate access to the full-size pic; the more detail, the more it helps me. Hmm. It does look like he's got some sort of exposed muscle fibers on his shoulder. Now I have a new reason to experiment with some foam latex. Weee! And after washing that pic, I'd say it looks like PH's got a very simple great knife now. Smooth, albeit rusted, with no accessories or details. Easy to make, though it might be kinda uninteresting as far as props go.
Thanks again.

This year for comic con and/or anime expo im going to do a girl version of Pyramid Head...so therefore i need some ideas on how to make the helmet. Anyone have any ideas?

astillar
04-03-2006, 12:07 AM
It's really not that hard once you get the geometry figured out. I've already made mine. Depending on your height, the dimensions of the head will vary. For mine I used black komatex ($28 for a 4'x8' sheet) and pvc glue ($5). Building the helmet was the easy part. Now I gotta find the right kind of fabric.

P.S. One problem I had that slowed me down for a while was trying to make the helmet portable. It's roughly 4'x2'x2', which makes it too big to take on a plane and it'd cost at least $70 to mail to a con. (That's not even considering the Great Knife 9_9). That's just one thing you might want to think of first. This costume will probably only go to cons you can drive to.

Hmm, well my friend thinks it's leather, but I think it's canvas. However, I do think having a leather jacket would be better. So my vote goes for leather. :D

started building a movie version Pyramid head a week ago and it's almost finished (mostly thanks to state_alchemist). This time, I'm using a matte board exterior with a wooden frame and interior fiberglass for extra strength. I'll be having an extra-long apron with my 7" platform boots, as in the picture, he is MUCH taller.

(BO HA HA HA! I shall have 2 Pyramid costumes to wear at the movie.)

Is anyone planning on wearing an SH costume to the movie? I'm taking my PH, even though he probably won't make it past the the front door, due to size constraints. Now I'm just trying to decide which showing to take him to get the most recognition. I'm thinking of the last Saturday matinee, before the general public floods the theater.
Just thinking out loud . . .

I just wanted to ask a few things before I get to work on this costume. The first question I have is, should I make the outfit long sleeved, or more like a "tank top"? I'm looking at all different cosplays, and I've seen it done both ways. I would rather do it long sleeved, but if it's more accurate then I'll make it like a tank top.

Next thing, any suggestions on how to make the head piece? I don't want something terribly heavy like metal, but I don't want to use something to light that it doesn't look accurate. And I also want to be able to see through it, which I think I can manage to do.

Please help!

astillar
04-17-2006, 06:12 PM
I'm doing a long-sleeved version because frankly, I'm not as ripped as PH and I don't have time to make foam latex muscles. From the picture I'm working off of, it looks like Mr. P-chan is topless except for his apron.
I used 1/8" komatec (celtex/xpvc) to make his helmet and it weighs less than 3 lbs. Cardboard and/or sintra would probably also work very well. If you've read this thread, you'll notice that Daguru has made an un-blind PH head, along the lines of the graphic provided by George duel. Although I don't think that's an exact translation of PH's head (from what I've seen in the screenshots and trailers), I think it's a practical compromise.

In this pic, you can see it easiest. For my other PH costume, I made a wire frame with 10 guage wire and covered it in nylon window screen (the black kind). With hot glue and black felt, I covered the entire inside except the front panel. I also cut-down a cheap foam bike helmet and attached it inside where my head would go. I pulled taught a cut piece of black fabric and attached under the helmet to prevent light from entering. The trick is to make it so you can see out perfectly, but no one can see you.

Another idea that I didn't use for that helmet was to attach hosiery material to the inside of the front panel.

Oh, and although that graphic helped a little in my movie P-chan helmet, I got the dimensions and everything else important from that high-res magazine picture.

But back on topic, it looks like there are studs on Red's head and not diamonds, as I had guessed. Hmmm. Oh well, too late for me to change now. Diamonds, studs, they're both in positive relief. Wire framing..not a bad idea...

If I covered it with something paintable, would painting be a good way to blend in the eye slit? I'd rather paint then use many different materials.

It will suck. I got into this arguement with an Electronics Boutique employee the other day. He claimed the replacement of Mason with a woman part was because Mason was a sissy woman role anyways, and i proceeded to slice off his face for insulting THE MASON. I'm not mad because its a woman instead of a man, I'm mad because they erased Harry and created a whole new character. They're butchering the storyline already and I haven't even seen it yet. I'm going to the movie tomorrow dressed as Kaufmann to do the following-
"Hurry! change back things to the way they were before!"
(Audience looks at me weird. I imagine Dhalia making her pitiful challenge.)
"My...aren't we getting cocky? I bet you can't see this and keep your cool."
(I bring out a bottle of red wine marked "Aglophotis" and proceed to juggle it in my hands.)
"And there's plenty more where this came from. You all, well...it kept you busy. HA! Your easy!"
(I then throw the bottle at the screen, and am promptly arrested by the cops for carrign a Colt SAA without a liscense.)

At least...that's how I imagine it'll go down...

Come to think of it, has anyone ever MADE a Dr. Michael Kaufmann costume? Well...i mean..I know its just a grey suit, but...

I kept a silent tally during the movie and was dissapointed in many ways. Best thing I can ever say though is this: Sybil was not a ninja kung fu fighter. It sucked. Samael and Dalhia were made out to be good guys. Cybil got killed. The neding sucked. Harry wasn't there. Lisa didn't get a name. If your gonna have Lisa, you hafta have the always cool Kaufmann. there was no reason to have Pyramid head there because...well James wasn't there carrying his pent up sexual frustration. No last battle. the barbed wire sucked. the bloodshed at the end was pointless. Going with the BAD ending is an insult. They shoulda gone with the UFO ending had they wanted to keep it good. Woulda kept it fresh.
Why were there Three Alessas? There were only ever two. Cheryl an grown up dead-carcass Alessa. why does Christianity constantly get a bad rap in movies lately? Why didn;t Kaufmann jump in and throw shit at Samael? Why didn't Samael take the form of Incubus. Where was the baby at the end? Why wasn't Eileen there? She's ten times hotter than Cybil. Why was Cybil a martial arts expert? Why wasn't there a carosoul battle? why were they hardly any rounds fired during the movie?

I could go on....and on...and on...

Truth is...it only took that shit ending to turn me against it. I was loving it like I loved Kill Bill at first...but during her ordeal with Samael in Alchemilla to the end...I began to despise it...I TOO now have pent up sexual frustration...I TOO will have my very own Pyramid Head...

If you haven't noticed...I like Kaufmann

Anyway, cosplay wise. I'm working on one of the baby headed creatures from SH4. I've started work on the fur shell right now, which will be matted up when it's fully sewn with muddied water, fake blood and wax. I've also completed the faces, which are casts of large dolls heads in coloured latex, then painted over again. I'm going to make similar latex hand casts to go on my feet so I can give the illusion of walking on giant hands, then paint my legs to match when I wear it. Hopefully it'll work.

I have to concur with Malicious on this one. It kinda would have been a bit of a disappointment if they put every single thing from the game into the movie. I'm happy with the way that they did it. The setting and the cinematography was perfect in my opinion. My friend and I saw it yesterday as well, and he thought it was good too (and prefers SH2 over SH). But everyone has their own opinion, so if you like the game, I say it's definitely worth the $6 (or $8 for most of the SoCal people).

It was very good, and the director worked directly with Konami. Movies can never be exactly like the game 100%. They made it to appeal to a larger group of people. Most of the games deal with the White House Orphanage cult. This delt with a side not talked about in the game bassically Christians that are very crazy. I agree the Pyramid Head's didn't really fit...but come on it was awesome!! Super nipple twister of death. I think they did it in a creative manor keeping the action going, and ending it wonderfully! They left it open for Silent Hill 2 don't want to give away spoilers ya know. But I feel it was done wonderfully with the plot, camera angels, graphics, scenes, characters, and most of all the music were all amazing.

On a cosplay note I always wanted to cosplay any freaky monster lol.

The film had a lot of really great aspects to it. Lighting. Environment, Atmosphere. It wasn't too bad if you force yourself to completely forget the games.

That being said Silent Hill (the games) are so full of amazing creatures and sets that I think if I won the lotto I'd end up building most everything. -laughs-

I don't have any current plans for a new Silent Hill costume unless I count making a accurate Walter Sullivan. That would be fun to do. So, you are also starting Walter Sullivan? Me, I'm wondering if I should go with it or not...or maybe one of these days go with your good old-fashioned Red Pyramid. But alas, I still need to get a wig, a briefcase and a BLACK revolver if I ever hope to properly pull off Kaufmann.

That said, it is entirely understandable that people disliked the movie (I myself liked it but there were things I would have hoped for). One day, a video game movie will be created by a hardcore fan like us.. though I wish it had been this movie.
I had hoped for new music by Yamaokasensei, but sadly they just recycled SH3's soundtrack. I do not particularly like the idea of it being in West Virginia, I would have seen it being farther north -maybe Mass. or Ma. - Somewhere that would justify a prison of the quality of Toluca prison. I also would have changed some things with The Order. But I won't go into it too much.

Even so, the movie had many strong points. Again I won't go too deeply into them. I liked the feel of it overall and that it had deeper meanings. I also liked the little girl who played Sharon. Such a good actress!

Anyhow.. Anyone else planning costumes from the movie?? as this is a costume thread *eyeshift*.

I guess it makes sense. I can't find any good reference pictures until after the movie comes out. Pffft.
Apparently I was waaay off when it came to the great knife (http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i180/astillar/Pyramid%20Head/photo_1.jpg) design. Looks like I'll have to alter the blade and add stilts to the costume, to get that kind of height. And start working out and avoiding the sun, too. I think I'll use the leftover vinyl from the apron to make a "skin" prop, too.

FIRST OFALL: I WON'T READ ALL THAT'S WRITTEN HERE BECAUE OF SPOILERS (IF THERE ARE SOME) AND I HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YET.

@ Winters Knight: YAY, more nurses! I actually started a game version of the Bubblehead Nurse. I know the movie version would be easier because their head shape is rather "normal" and not shiny etc. I had some ideas about how to make them but actually I'd prefer to make the game version, even though it's more difficult.
Still, after I moved we have to meet up and make a Nurses photo shooting ! :D

But even though I haven't seen the movie yet I thought about making a Rose costume or an Anna. Or maybe I will do the Nurse too :D I already made the SH3 demon nurse costume for my sister, and that way I would have made almost all SH nurse costumes (even though I didn't wear the demon nurse by myself).

And my question still stands...does ANYOEN know what type of pistol Harry used? Like I said, I'm pretty sure it was a Glock 17...but I can't be certain. Also, alomng that route...I also assume Kaufmann was using a Colt Single Action Army, since Konami seems to be more fond of the 'ol Peacemaker than I am. thats saying something.

BTW, ask the Creative one about his new construction project right now. Dear lord, man...that looks JUST LIKE IT! You put some movie sets to brutal. bloody shame. SHAME I TELLS YA!

Geez! The knife is as tall as he is! The main thing I've noticed when making this new P-Head costume is that the movie version props DWARF the game version's. When I was done, I looked at my old helmet and thought "Damn, that's tiny."
Oh, and I wouldn't reccomend stilts, unless if you're really good on them. I can easily see you tripping on the apron and having a nasty fall. I reccomend exactly what I used: 7" platform boots:bigtu: You just can't tell in my photo because the photographer didn't want to leave the house, so she's standing 2' up on the doorstep.

Like i said ill be doing the patient demon which is seen in SH2 and the movie. The guys that look like they r in straight jackets and spray acid.

Ja, they're sometimes called "Straight-jacket of flesh". Something stretchy or spandexy would be great, and you can airbrush muscles/abraisions right on it.

*gasp* Idea! You can use silly-string as a prop to spray acid ROFL

Oh forget that. His apron goes all the way to the floor and I'm mostly blind in that helmet, so it'd only be a matter of seconds before I tripped and shattered my helmet on the ground. And probably skewer someone with my great knife on the way down. No thank you.

Good lordy movie Pyramid Head was the hottest thing on earth; I actually liked his design here a lot more than the original. Le movie turned me into a P. Hiddy fangirl all over again. :I~

Anyhoos. I've actually got a finished Memory of Alessa costume (with a few alterations from the original game design) back at the house. I'm using a black vest with a hooded black tangtop underneath, a black denim skirt, knee high black vinyl buckle things I can only describe as Gestapo Deathboots, a rusted silver necklace of the Jewish Hand of God(behold an example = http://www.jerusalem-gifts.com/media/15j-6a.jpg ), and two frayed black wristbands with one black busted digital watch. As far as weapons go, I'm probably going to go with this huge silver ritual knife, though I do have a normal old pocketknife as a backup. All that I'm missing at the moment is food coloring to whip up some fake blood with. xD;

Here're them deathboots, by the way: http://www.hottopic.com/store/product.asp?LS=0&ITEM=332873&RN=129

Heh, I laughed a little when I found out that the guy who played as P-Head is a world-class premier danseur ballerina.

All about blood: The most popular method for fake blood is to mix corn syrup, red food coloring and a little water and blue food coloring. Experiment with different combonations to get the right look. What's good about this recipe is that it's cheap, easy to make, and it's edible. What's not so great is that if you're putting it on clothing as a permanent bloody look, it can be sticky and attract ants (it is sugar, after all). For making blood on clothing or any other surface that's not human skin, you can use chemical-based stage blood. This stuff is pre-mixed to look like blood, it won't be sticky, and it's NOT EDIBLE.

I actually already have a neatastic recipe for chocolate blood; it actually looks clotted when it begins to dry, splatters neatly, and hey, it's chocolate. : D
Instructions are as follows:

- half a cup of warm water.
- one tablespoon of cocoa powder. (Just go find some hot cocoa mix for this.)
- three or four tablespoons of corn syrup .
- one teaspoon of red food coloring.
- two drops of green food coloring.
Mix the cocoa powder into the water, then add everything else. Let it sit, then either skim the bubbles off or pour the thing into another glass or something.
Chocolate blood is love. :toothy:

Planning on doing a Pyramid Head costume for some random con (whichever one comes first. :D). I'd love it if some of you PH vets could give me advice on what to make the helmet out of (I was thinking maybe Wonderflex?), and how to SEE in it. I want to make the movie version, so I was thinking maybe I could use mesh screen for the side grating and see out of that, but still wanted some input.

Also, I'm a girl, so I was thinking of doing the game's outfit and not the movies...but would it work if I did the movie costume and bound my chest in bandages or something?

*points in Daguru's direction* What'd you make your helmet out of, cowboy?
I used xpvc/sintra for mine. I wouldn't recommend wonderflex because it's a bit more expensive and it isn't stiff enough on it's own for such a large helmet. I liked the xpvc/sintra also because it's easy to add scars/battle damage to it and you can get in various colors, which saves you some time painting. Although my helmet didn't let me see, I got good enough with that I could walk around with it like this (http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i180/astillar/Pyramid%20Head/P4280003b.jpg) and then with a nod of my head, it would drop into place like a welder's mask. But being able to see and be in character at the same time would be a big bonus.

Also, I'm a girl, so I was thinking of doing the game's outfit and not the movies...but would it work if I did the movie costume and bound my chest in bandages or something?

But if you do the game version, you won't have anywhere to put a screen, right? You'll have to cut an eye slit like everyone else.
I think if you bound your chest, no one would notice. Frankly, the pyramid head covers up your chest most of the time (mine does, anyways), so you might not even have to bind in the first place.
Hmmm. I can't decide if a female Pyramid Head would be sensual in some way, or even more twisted . . . Um, I don't think I wanna go there. That's some messed up stuff.
Anyways, good luck with your PH! I'm curious to see a female's spin on that costume.

I didn't take many pictures of my PH build, but these (http://s72.photobucket.com/albums/i180/astillar/Pyramid%20Head-build/) should give you an idea of the basic procedure.
Basically, the helmet is made from 4 triangles glued together to make the pyramid (2 long triangles for the sides of the head, 1 for the back of the head, and 1 for the base). I could give you the exact dimensions of the triangles I used, but those measurements would be for a person 6' tall. And the pyramid head was a little on the big side for me. There are a lot more reference pictures of PH out on the net now, so you can take some measurements and figure out what size you want your helmet to be, with respect to your body type.
I ain't proud to admit it, but I wore a girdle under my body suit for Pyramid Head. Heh heh. Like hell my PH was gonna have love handles. Over my dead body! That was easier and faster than actually exercising. ;) But good for you for working out. Bravo!
And yeah, my Great Knife was made of the same material as the head. XPVC is sold in 8' x 4' sheets, which is more than enough to make a Pyramid Head and Great Knife.

my movie version (I need to post a newer pic):

my old game version:
http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=372997
http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=551973

My movie helmet is a little different than it was in the movie. I'm still finding a way to make those "bolts" and still be able to see out. Right now, I have a screen mesh that I can see out of, but no one can see in. Mine is layers of matte board and foamcore cut and glued together. The inside is reinforced with fiberglass. (this thing is quite strong. I put a hole in the lobby ceiling at Acen by the front door)

The bottom is covered in black swimsuit material to prevent light from entering the helmet. I have a turtleneck-style hole that I can put my head through at the bottom. Inside, there is a fabric wall running down the middle to prevent light from entering one side of the helmet and exiting the other. This keeps people from seeing my face. I also wear a nylon hood to hide my face even more. I can take a pic of any spot and upload it for you, if you wish.

My game helmet was a little more complicated. I constructed a frame from 10 guage wire. I covered that in nylon screen. The inside was almost completely covered with black felt save for the front panel. The bottom was covered in black felt to prevent light from entering. I could easily see out the front while no one could see my face.

You see, I may not be the absolute best at costume construction, but (as far as I know) I am the best at mentally deconstructiong a complicated costume and rationalizing it to find the best method to use for each part and making it easy to walk/run around in.

EDIT: one more thing, Pyramid helmets make EXCELLENT suitcases when going to cons. XD

Only problem is that the pipe seems too much... "girth" if you will. Oh well. I shouldn't complain, my costume isn't perfect, my chest pockets are diagonal, so I can't put a proper light in them. And I got long hair, which I don't plan on cutting.

But it would be fun to get together a bunch of the human SH characters. That way we could act out some of the scenes from Noisy Hill (http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=ilikewaxingowls). Bring some humor to SH for once!

For those 'Bolts' on the side of the helmet, it's probably best to use those end caps for PVC piping. I used them for my PH costume and it worked out really well.

I used two sites for reference for my costume. Maybe you might find them useful. They don't give an accurate view of the back of the helmet, but they could give you help on the angles for the helmet.

The last two links are from a SH opening in Japan.

I plan on revamping my PH for the upcoming Otakon. I checked out a few pictures and noticed that I had placed those two giant bolts on the wrong panel to the helmet. The helmet basically cosisted of three panels (two sets) taped together where I accidentally placed those two bolts on the front panel (the panel with the bumps and handles) instead of the middle panel (which had nothing)

http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=703324

Also, rather than using duct tape or masking tape to hold hold the helmet in shape, I'll probably use black zip ties. I used a zip tie in the back of my helmet to attach a string to my belt since it was so front heavy and noticed that the zip tie can not be seen whatsoever. Using zip ties will probably remove that 'taped' look up close.

I'm also tempted to add a few bits of chains to the helmet and sword to give it a more medieval look but that might add more weight to it than I care to support. The helmet I have isn't made of cardboard like most people believe so it's actually pretty heavy.

Ah, I'm glad to see another PH that has the same angles as mine. I was getting worried the "nose" on mine was sticking up too high. I'm glad you're bringing your PH to Otakon too. That's nice. I'll have to hunt you down.
Actually, that's where I originally placed my big bolts, before I discovered there was a middle panel. I don't think anyone would notice they're in the wrong place, except us PH cosplayers.

Yeah, I'm putting all kinds of crap in the back of the helmet to help keep it as balanced as possible. I'm including the chains on his back; hopefully con security doesn't detect them, that extra weight will come in handy. Plus I've got a battery pack for the LEDs inside the helmet. Every little bit helps.
I've got to make my helmet collapsible and modular so that it fits on the plane, so I have to wait till I'm at the hotel to do final assembly. I won't be using tape to hold him together, but no gorilla glue or pvc cement either. It's got to be an adhesive that's as easy to remove as it is to apply. I'm thinking hotglue, it worked surprisingly well when I accidentally used it on my first head. Good enough for a single day's wearing, anyways.
